  • are you kidding me.. thats the final.. holy shit.. cmon the game really its a sand grain on my ass.... second the boss ... even kupa represent a real challange... or... maybe you use the cheats... n,n

  • My God I remember beating this, feels like 100 years ago!

  • Although this is one of my favorite NES games of all time. Their so many flaws when it came to game play. Why did the main boss just sit there and not move? If you had enough tone he was so easy to beat But the Robots were harder?

  • i just finished this on my DS, fuck ligar, hes a though bastard

  • How the hell did u beat him that easy?? I remember getting to the last boss loads of time but the gay never died!!!

  • @lettucekl It you get your Tone high enough and have all 12 hitpoints, he isn't hard at all. I was shocked when he died so quickly the first time I beat the game.

  • @glitchedgamer I believe i always had shed loads of health though....i must admit i cant really remember as it was about 18 years ago when i used to play this game lol. On reading posts further down it would appear it was a bug with the PAL version of the game....that might explain why i could never defeat him. Can anyone confirm that there really was a bug with the PAL version??

  • Worst ending ever. This game is fucking terrible. Awful, but for some reason I love it. One of my fav. nes games.

  • Two words. Sitting Death.

  • ke final tan mediocre

  • One of the best games for the nes

  • i remember the amount of pride i had when i beat an nes game back in the day, especially a hard one... then going wtf cause the ending sucked- lol. But nowdays most games are made to be beatable on any level of skill so its less of an accomplishment. And yes i beat tmnt nes several times and can do it but only after watching youtube speedruns to see where to go and what to do... lol.

  • And thus our hero used his yoyo to defeat the two headed lion and peace was restored to the human world.

  • the reason he was so easy was because the guy had full health, by the time anyone would normally get to the end they wouldnt have enough to finish the boss and then would die and keep starting with three health, as u can see he lost more than three health and could have lost if he didnt get there with a ton of health. id doesnt seem possible to get by that last part without getting hit at least once

  • Yes, Michiharu Hasutani (AKA Hasuya) did the music for this game (not sure about the arcade version). He also did Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Golgo 13: TSE, Clash at Demonhead and Solomon's Key, which I believe is the only game to credit his real name.

  • I loved this game as a kid. I tried the emulator recently for nostalgic purposes and I can't get ANYWHERE! It is a ridiculously hard game... the hardest one I've ever played, actually. It's funny that I had more patience and skill with video games as a kid than I do now. I got to Ligar many times in the 80's. What a motherfucker he was! I was never able to beat him no matter how many times I hit him. It is kinda sad seeing this guy beat him so quickly.

  • @Patriciameadows

agreed. rygar used to frustrate the snot out of me back in the day. lol

  • bwahahaha, the US version of Ligar is a fucking joke :D

  • Does anyone remember a game where the main character is a kid and there is a woman he buys things from once in a while and sometimes she gets mad and says "You don't have enough money. Quit bugging me" but if you buy alot her eyes sparkle. Anybody know what game i mean? its driving me nuts

  • @NukeIt2Bdone I do actually remember playing that game, but i never owned it, my mate did in like year 4 lol.. You'd go into a lot of houses and rooms and it was sorta set up like the old zelda games am i right??

  • @streetfightermatt Yeah, but what the hell was it? I've seriously been trying to figure it out for almost a decade!

  • THIS IS SPARTA!

  • This game along with Bayou Bily would give me fits when I was a kid. I finally get to see the ending after all these years and have a "don't forget to drink your Ovaltine moment". My youth was wasted playing that game for an ending that was forgettable.

  • how come you beat the boss only in 3 seconds????? i spent so much hit to the boss and he never died....owhhh....crazy....this game always hanging on my mind...i love rygar !!

  • what a stupid fucken game! anyone who played this during childhood was one stupid dumb fuck spending even a penny on this worthless piece of doo doo cock fuck!

  • what is the first music you use for your videos? I herd it on a game but I dont remember

  • @alanvamp It's a remix of some Mario game. I forgot its name.

  • The roar that this boss makes has stuck with me for twenty fucking years.

  • Whats the tune at the opening? Heard it before somwhere,

  • Rygar for PS was pretty good but I hope someday they make another awesome Rygar that is Indian themed like this NES one, not Greek themed like the PS one. So far I think this NES incarnation has been the only awesome Rygar game. The arcade has an appeal but its just a coin-eater, and its up-grades arent strong enough

  • one of the all-time greats!

  • It's so much easier when you level up your weapons, huh. lol

  • How could you not let the music play through it's entirety at the end. What a fucking dick move.

  • This game was HARD!!!! I had so much patience as a kid. Unreal. I finally ended up beating it. I remember staying up til 4am on several occasions just trying to get through this game. Crazy memories. While all my cool friends were out getting drunk and laid I was the dork beating Rygar. Hahaha. But now I'm getting laid all the time and my friends that were cool in school are fat and bald!!!! Bahahahahahaaaaa!!!!

  • @eliassailor I know skateboarding keeps you young, didn´t know games did too! Good thing I love both!

  • Played this as a young child, and DAMN it was hard. I got to the forest level, never were able to get past it..

But damn, RYGAR is one of my favorite games ever, i have to get another NES and play it.. i have to finish this game.

  • Music was awesome for this game. I remember playing this all night long on weekends when I was in school. The "remake" (or re-imagination) on PS2 was good, but really wish they had included the original game as an easter egg as well as wish they had remade orchestrated the music from the NES version. (The PS2 score was fantastic though)

  • I don't know that game,but I like it!Great!

  • i like the begining music what is it?

  • @Ndcrocks

Forest music when you are going after "Geno" in Super mario RPG for snes.

  • @ CERNIUM Pal impossible? That might explain why I could never beat the damn boss. "Impossible!" I'd say. And then I'd go back & fight him repeatedly for half an hour. TWO or three hits & you're dead! My bro & I always finished games back then but Rygar? No go.

  • Sometimes oldie games are nice.

  • Why is the bird humping the air?

  • @Wakka12321 for the same reason you hump the ground.

  • Wow, great job man. I still remember when I beat this game when I was little. It took so long and when I saw the ending. I was like when the? That's it! I guess I should have learned my lesson when I saw the ending for 1943, just a mere post card. Well, what can you do...1st gen ends weren't too meaningful back then...lol. Do you still have your 1st gen nintendo and games? I still have all my games and systems, from nes, super, n64 and game cube. I'm holding off on the wii.

  • The gameplay was basic....but I think it was the monsters and music that this game a classic. More so the music than anything. We have to remember this game came out in 1986. The game for the PS2 was good in my opinion.

  • This game was incredibly hard. I mean, it was mind-blowingly HARD! Like, fucking impossibly hard. ... I mean... HAAAARD!!!! At least for me... but, I was never much for side-scrollers so that's part of it. Still, I played the shit outta this one because it was so good. Nostalgia bomb.

  • "Rygarded" as the most boring game ever!!!

  • I really hate this game and final boss is really an ass, this video might have shown it easy but I never managed to beat it withouth cheating.

  • Screw you... this game was awesome! It should have been called Radgar.

  • that was a difficult boss fight...

  • I am finally relieved to know that the pal version i played as a kid cannot be beaten. This game tormented me as a child and on clearing out some of my old stuff about a year ago i happened to find my old NES with this game inside beckoning me oncemore. To think i nearly forgot about that boss, after probably 50 attempts at him in one sitting he still had the beating of me. In some way i feel that the error code was a cunning ploy by the japanese to torture the mind of all european gamers.

  • @berba87 if i understand that right, it's nearly impossible to beat the End-Boss in the PAL-Version??? when i was a kid...i tried and tried and tried....but i was NEVER succussful....and i had the PAL-Version! if that is true, i'm really glad to hear it, cause all these years i thought i just too weak to beat this boss!

  • the ps2 rygar wasnt bad at all either

  • I'll never forget this one weekend as a kid that I spent over my friend's house, where I finally plowed through the entire game in a marathon session. I saw the last boss for the first time, beat it, and then the game froze as the shot of the bird flying in the sky over the field began. I left it there for like 20 minutes hoping it would clear up so I could see the whole ending. The image of that fucking bird mocking me will haunt my dreams forever.

  • @PristineSneakers ou fuck...that's too bad! i never beat this boss! but somebody said: it's impossible to beat this boss if you have the pal-version...and i'm from europe....wtf!!!!

  • @CERNIUM Developers were merciless back then, you would think the NES took quarters considering how difficult some of those games were. Kids these days have no idea.

  • took me from 9 till i played it for the first time,

until 14 when I got it at a yard sale for like a dollar. Then I whooped its ass.

I have the Wii remake of the PS2 game. Not as fun as the NES one. and now the have the Arcade version for the Virtual Console for download

  • It was literally impossible to beat it in the PAL version. There was an error in the code and you could only get some max tone and last... Nobody with the PAL version ever beat the final monster, i know this because i had the montly nintendo magazine.

  • @D42Clinton after so many years....finally i know why.....damn...i tried and tried to beat this boss.....! Jesus...thanks for your godlike answer...haha! fiiiinaaaalllyyyy.....now i feel great! :-D greetz from switzerland

  • Glad I never beat the final boss after seeing the crappy ending here

  • lol'd at that dove and rainbow. So cliche.

  • What's the name of the intro song?

    0:00-0:08

  • Glad to know I wasn't the only one who would spend hours on this game only to get to the final boss and hit him a million times only to never beat him. Besides that, great game, especially in its time, I'm not sure why its in worst games ever, I don't agree with that. After seeing this ending though I can tell you I would have probably been disappointed after all the hours spent on it to see that. That being said, thank you for posting this, I was amazed to see the boss actually die.

  • Yup, its god of war ripoff even though this game was made in the 80s and god war was made in like 2005....Yeah tottaly *sarcasm*

  • Rygar is the white wale of my childhood. Beat every NES game known to man except this one.

If I saw this ending back when I was 9 or so I probably would have shit my pants. Thanks for sharing.

  • wow people actually struggled that hard with this boss? it was just annoying but, it took me just 3 tries, but charging like he did is what had me win, Even though I had small health for continuing.

  • Easy to beat when you take the time to max out the power. Dude makes it look easy... very hard without max health/power. If you just kill a whole lot of monsters for a week, you too can dominate ;D A hint to all my old homies who never beat the original on the nes, download the nes emulator and rygar rom. most have ability to save as much as you want

YOU CAN BEAT THE WHOLE THING IN TWO HOURS

    RYGAR RULES WOOOOOT

  • This game gave me nothing but HEADACHES!!!I have NEVER been more PISSED OFF at a videogame before.ONE LIFE,NO SAVES.

Finally beat the game but it took away a bunch of my years!!!!!!

  • Thanks for allowing us to see the end. It seems impossible to kill the last boss with the PAL version because the xp stops at 1023 and the life too. I never succeded when I had the game in the 90's. Did someone manage to?

The NES version of Rygar is a great game.

  • wow i cant believe it i never beat this boss and i tried a million times thanks for posting this

  • WHAT!!!!!!!!!!

    That's all it took???

I can't tell you how many times I reached the boss and died....and of course there were no continues or saves. This was the source of many tantrums. :)

  • There are infinite continues. The problem is you start out with only 3 life circles when you continue.

  • Still my all time favorite. I literally played it for 24 hours from beginning to end. That was like 20 years ago. I remember being on edge when reaching near the end. Luckily I have this ability to rapid fire the button. The boss didnt last long.

Never played the Wii version of this game. I find it hard to believe its as good as the old one. The music made the game.

  • I had the european version and was never able to kill the end boss. Thanks dude I always wanted to see the ending and now 20 years later I finally hafe, just made my day

  • All of you people who could never beat the last boss... it's a lot harder if you're playing the european version where you can only get the stats up to around 1000... 1023 I think it is. Watch the PAL speedrun here on youtube. Also on PAL the boss does more damage I think so you actually have to dodge the "bullets".

  • I spent hours fighting that end boss and could never kill him. I remember running into the room and swinging at him like mad but he never died. I watch this video and the fucker dies in like 3 seconds. I must have had a screwed up copy of the game.

  • Me too!

I d'never successed killing the boss!

    He never died!

it was a bug or something I dont know

Years and years after I can at least see the end!

    Ouah !

  • @deomartinez77 Gotta power up your shield:) Damn near impossible if you dont.

  • @Voldness I did. I could kill every other boss in the game in like 2 hits; 4 at the most. But not this one. I'm just glad I got to finally see the ending here on youtube finally. :-)

  • @Voldness He's damn near impossible if you dont:) But yea i know what you are saying. It took me years.

  • @deomartinez77 Or maybe the European version.

  • this ending its a fuc king crap

  • Comment removed

  • this game was the shit back in the day,it was ghost'n'ghoblins that drove me freekin nuts!

And let this be a warning to unexpecting players that may get bored one night and decide to dust off the ole NES and try a game called.....lord please watch over me when i say this name.....Deadly Towers, please stay away! this game will vanquish all sanity that you have, you have been warned.

  • yeah dude this game was the fucking bomb back in the day, badass music too. these were the times back when there was only nintendo power and the kids at school to help you figure out what the cool games were. when you really think about it, we were pretty good judges of talent as kids, because we picked some wierd-ass games to be popular (rygar, legend of kage, jackal, shit like that) that everyone seems to remember, but they were all sweet!

  • carpetsnake and royalguard56 are hereby elected as co-presidents of oldschool gaming, whenever kids play anything online such as WoW or anything on a console like the ps3 or xbox360...they should pay respect to games like Rygar,if it wasnt for us oldschool gamers and the great nes games of the past, they wouldnt be playing these incredible games today.

We laid the foundation for the curent gamers, all we ask is to give credit to these great games.

  • amen to that, brother! i virtual console'd castlevania II: simons quest the other night...talk about not knowing what the fuck to do without nintendo power! all people do is lie to you, and the ones that try to tell the truth are so poorly translated that it might as well be a lie anyway because they dont make any fucking sense! in other words, another classic nes game that shouldnt be missed!

  • @royalguard56 Heck yeah my friend! Loved those days!

  • What an amazing ending

  • what music you used in the beginning of the video?

  • I tried beating this game on an emulator once. This game really needed a password or savegame feature as it was quite long. Anyways I guess I wasn't lvled up enough or something cause I was dead in like 2 or 3 hits. Excellent video in any case.

  • anyone else remember being like 8 to 11 and thinking that the endings were NOT worth the effort. I always ended up going outside to play or ride my bike after, and promised myself "never agian"... well, 3 generations of consoles later, and i'm still gaming, goddammit!!!! damn you to hell madden, to hell!

    cant wait for GOW III

  • Aw. The NTSC version is much easier. In the PAL version tone and last only go to 1023.

  • The cave music is the best

  • I agree, that tune stirred my imagination...

  • One of my favorite games, the music was incredible! I remember being really disappointed with the ending though.

  • That boss was rock hard I've never been able to beat him!

  • Wont let my tone go above 1023 and only have 8 hp. Can anyone help?

  • TONE determines your attack power while LAST determines your hp. Although I was looking around on gamefaqs, I couldn't find a definitive way to increase LAST. When I was playing I never payed enough attention to how it's done either.

  • @Artificialraven the best way I found is in towards the beginning before you get the grapple..you can continue to kill the dragons. I've been do this for like an hour and my tone is now 2790 and climbing.

  • You try fighting those slugs in the Tower level? There's one slug in particular who will keep coming back if you leave and return; they gives insane points for Tone and Last.

  • lol

  • I remember a friend of mine had a NES (I had C64 and Atari only) and would kind of cheat by getting rygar in a position to always have monsters coming at him, then hit put something on the controller to hold the button down and leave it for a few hours until his Tone was maxed out early, making the game too easy IMO. The Final Boss should have been tougher honestly.....but it helped if you ran through the game as fast as you could to get to him before you were too powerful.

  • oky my bad... it´s 35 hits on the pal version XP

  • i could never beat the last boss :(

  • yeah there was some kinda bug that didn´t let you get all points and lifes... it seems like this bug is in all rygar games out in the world... i´ve played 3 or 4 different rygar games and they all had the same fucking problem... and with the points you get in the game you have to hit him over 26 times or so... pretty bad... bud DAMN FUCKING AWESOM GAME XD... best game music EVER!!! XD

  • great game. rememberbeating this. There was a spot to stand where he could not hit you.

  • I could never beat the last boss, never had enough life :( IT was a kickass game though!!

  • man i did the same thing....i never beat this game as a kid....but then when i was like 16 i picked the game up and beat it

  • Aw, I like the ending to this game... :)

The music and scenery are so peaceful.

  • the worst fucking ending ever, for a hard nes game

  • this game was cake...

as soon as you get to the woods area, walk back and forth until you have all life containers. (level ups) then the rest is easy. or should be.. haha. this game is tuff to a newbee.

a classic.. one of my favs on the NES.

under rated, hated.. but a great game.

i recommend it highly to a newbee to the NES.

  • This game was so freakin HARD!

  • For reals! The hardest thing for me back in the day was figuring out what the crap I was supposed to do next!

  • Man, I hated this game.

  • Yeah, the controls were lousy, plus the weapons were lame.

  • Aha, I beat it - TWICE.

  • i could never ever beat this bullshit

  • Ah, memories..

But so sad that never completed the game. Back in the days it was way too hard for me :(

  • the most gay final i've ever seen xD

  • wow- they should have just handed him a pink dildo when he beat that liger thing and the doors opened.

After all these years wondering about how this hard-as-shit game ended, that's it?

  • This was/is quite good nes game after all. I had japanese/chinese (not sure) version and I had some troubled moments with the game. But I finished it as kid after all. Its good to see translated end so many years later. =D

  • the thing is, these endings look so cheesy now, but back then when you beat a game, it was the biggest deal in the world.

  • what are you talking about tihis game was really good

  • best video game ever...although i also had trouble with the grappling hook

  • This game had great music. I've always liked it.

  • How come everytime I got hit by the final boss it took away 3 things of health?

  • true point, maybe it was even 3.. U had like 5 or 6 hits with full health and potion, since u experienced the same difference as me, say u couldn't max your health to full 2 bars right?

  • So then...Rygar's gay? o_O

  • umm... no... i think in this time when this game was invented there wasn't anything like gaynes

  • for some reason i always had problems using the grappling hook : / could never latch onto rope properly

  • Yeah, it's really tricky. The whole overhead stuff is pretty broken. The sidescrolling parts are definitely superior.

  • I remember getting my ass kicked by the boss every time I got there. I never finished it because of how long it took you to go back and power up after dying. But what a weak ending for such a long game!!

  • i beat this game when i was 12 i was so strong by the end cause i had my turbo controller and i set it to multi kill the stegasaurus looking monsters that infinite spawn at you early in the game.

  • sweet idea.

  • Wait a damn minute. That's how it ended?! I'm glad I never finished that game!!!

  • One of my favorite games for the NES and I don't remember the last boss being that easy...LOL

  • Oh and the ending music is beautiful.

  • nice job my G

  • I tell you the truth. It's a big difference about playing this on real nintendo or doing it emulator. First thing, you can't max your health to two full rows on Nes. Also, his health is a lot less on emulator. There's no way you can just jump at him and hit while taking damage. Haven't succeded in real life but I had to test emulator way to see the ending, and he really didn't give a hard time.

  • Ahaha what? I've got the game on my NES and you just need 4000 last points to have two full rows of health.

  • i tell you the truth.I'ts a very big difference about playing this on nintendo or doing it in real life

  • Tbh, we gotta have different versions of the game, ie I'we played the european.. You start up collecting health bars at the mechanical robots at the sky high level. U got max health, which for me was all but 2 max rows, then rest of the game u cant get any further. And the part with Ligar must truely be apart too then, since the difference between emulator and real nes is that u die 2 health instead of one/a hit.

  • Wow...and to think of all the hours I spent playing this game as a kid. What a shity ending. It was a cool game as I remember tho.

  • deep shit

  • I have a question abaut Rygar. How many powerups can you do on the weapon. I remember that I played it on nes long time ago, and then I could only make one powerup on the weapon. This maked the final boss very difficult. I think it's the original version. For some years ago a played a version were I could power up a lot of times, making the final boss easy. Is this the version played in this version? Or is there a trick that makes it so easy to kill the boss?

  • HAHAHA.. i remember this ending !!!!! i was soooo disapointed !!!! ... trying so hard for this?!... the ending really reaaaaally was disapointing..

  • YOU CAN ACTUALLY BEAT NINTENDO GAMES

  • so all that leveling up led to this...ok not gonna say the game sucks but the ending most certainly does.

  • One curiosity about this game and the final boss: he is called 'Ligar', but as Wikipedia tells, it may be a typo of 'Rygar'. Strange, isn't it?

  • Well wikipedia is wrong most of the time, anyone can edit that info.

  • Wait, so is Rygar the hero or the final boss?

    .....??

  • Wikapedia that...

  • Once you max out your exp or tone, you can pwn shit.

  • no way was it that easy. when i was a kid it must've took me days it seems to beat this guy.

  • Haha! I had the same feeling about this game. As a kid I thought it sucked, I didnt even get passed the first boss, just didn't know how to beat him. Years later I played it again and thought it was pretty cool actually.

  • i remember the final boss couldent beat him tried a 1000times but did kill him on the emulator :P

  • I watched my cousin beat this (he was a REALLY good gamer) it looked a lot harder when he did it though ;-/

  • This game was fucking impossible, I'm glad I've never beaten it because if I saw this ending after playing I would have thrown my controller through my television...

  • Well, at least it wasn't "Congratulation!" like Karnov or Road Blasters. >_>

  • Actually buddy, it is alot better than the arcade version!

  • crystalis pawns this game

  • Of fuck yes, Crystalis was the miracle of the NES.

  • I loved this game, but it took FOREVER to finish... I still don't know why they didn't add some form of backup for saving your game.

  • I'll admit that this game looks pretty fun...(Fan of the classics.) But Rygar for the PS2 was a horrible game...In my opinion. Not to trash it but. I wasted $0.12 on that game. )=

  • Is Very hard the game

  • The Rygar series is AWESOME!

  • the game had a lot of original elements. dont talk shit about Rygar

  • man nice i beat this back in 1987 was the shit love the ending with the dove, this game was the rastan at the time,,,,

  • that's in my top ten greatest nes games

  • muy buen juegoo!!!

  • I beat this game back in the 1990s using the Nintendo Advantage Joystick. That MIDI music is royally awesome dude!
