  • Thank u for making this video!

  • A new TAS of this game has been done in just under 14 minutes. Some of the tricks ARE doable... meaning I officially declare this speedrun obsolete. I probably won't take another shot at it for a while though as I've moved on to other projects... and my DVD recorder broke.

  • Couldn't get passed the 2nd level lol

  • i have this game i like it alot but ive never been apast the first elevator your really good at this game

  • I dunno about yall but this game scared the shit out of me when i was a kid.

  • if you miss this game, check out LIMBO.

  • cool game. I wish the intro was on this video too since it's so epic.

  • Danggg. I never would have figured this out.. in a million years.

  • I find it funny how this was the same crew who shited out Shaq Fu.

  • this game... when i was young this game sacre me ._.

  • @M4sterSK8 OH YEAH! Me too

  • Limbo is an awesome game. This one is one I haven't tried out yet.

  • Loading Bar SPILL 4 LIFE

  • wtf, why is this "out of this world"? i remember finishing it with the name another world... does this one have more missions...., because this was the best adventure game ever made...

  • @guily6669 It's the same game. Another World was renamed to Out of This World for copyright reasons. I'm guessing because of the soap opera Another World at the time.

  • @Nirakolov I don't if it was copyright reasons or if Interplay just thought that was a better name. Anyway, it's just the American versions that have this name.

  • I would of never thought to backtrack and jump on the plant tarzan style lol.

  • @chinguidinsky yeah same here i never got past that and got to enjoy the game.

  • From dust came out xbl. Very good game with liquid mechanics that took 2 years t create. It looks beautiful.

  • @magnetwardrobe Ya, I plan on getting it in two weeks on Steam.

  • This game was very well designed and it ran very smoothly . :D The same guy who developed this game is developing another game that is coming out soon called 'From Dust' I think you guys should check it out!

  • I used to play this back in 1994 when I was in the Army - My roommate had to buy me 3 controllers because he would get so pissed off and slam them into the floor. LMAO!

  • Best. Game. Ever.

  • This game looks cool, but I don't think that there is anything wrong with the games that are out now, as zinkerled stated. Even back when this game came out there were tons of shitty snes games or sega games. If you don't like some of the games that are out now don't play them, but I bet that more people would agree that modern games are better. Though this style of game seems to have gone extinct.

  • Looks similar in style to Prince of Persia.

  • I remember playing this at my babysitter's house back in the day. Weird game. Couldn't get past that gorilla thing that chases you in the beginning.

  • This has got to be one of the greatest games ever. I never could get passed the one level where there are 2 waves of those bald alien gaurd comin at you from both sides and u had to use the sheild on the laser gun. I always died at that part

  • Hey guys I'm earth dude! (raises hand).

    ....

    BAM!

XD classic. Oh to be 14 again.

  • Retro Hunters brought me here

  • My toolbox

  • Remember playing this on my 'amiga 500 during the early 90's..what a game!! and celebrating its 20th. anniversary this year too...happy birthday "another world"!

  • when SNES was to launch, I wasn't particularly thrilled until I saw this game on demo in Software Etc. I begged my parents for it and spent days standing in the store playing it and working my way through. I had beaten half the game before I got it for christmas. Got this one, super mario world and zelda. happy times :3 this remains possibly my absolute favorite game of all time.

  • 9:12

Lester is really lucky that the groin just happens to be as sensitive for the aliens as it is for humans. What if he was a Ballchinian?

  • @Chernobog2 ballchinian.. lol :3

"Kick him in the NARDS!" "Alien guy don't GOT nards!"

"Kick him anyways!" *kicks, then stands back in awe as alien guy crumples in pain* "Alien Guy's got nards..." *IS reduced to a charred skeleton when Alien guy recovers and shoots his gun*

  • Classic fuckin game. I still haven't played anything quite like it....80 fuckin years later.

  • My Turba ftw.

  • This game has the most beautiful ambient ever.

  • One of the most epic games ever made.

  • 2:40 - "My tuba"

  • this game used to scare me as a child

  • this reminds me of lester the unlikely.

  • @josephskater1994 Both characters are even named Lester...

  • @Nirakolov WOW..... I'm getting a sealed copy of this game but now i don't wanna open it

  • @josephskater1994 that's an idiotic comparison

  • @mustxgetxout well, both games suck so your comment doesn't really take affect at all. :I

  • @josephskater1994 you're still an idiot no correlation between the games sucking see another idotic comment

  • @mustxgetxout well theres no need to be a douche bag so fuckoff dickweed

  • @josephskater1994 but you're not being a douche bag? you said the game sucks even tho lots of people love the game and some one spent alot of time and energy putting it together and attempted to condenscend to me and if you don't want people to point out that your comments don't make sense and are idiotic then don't leave any comments

  • @mustxgetxout first of all im not being a dick to anybody, just the game, second REMEMBER? i made a comparison of the two characters first, i didn't say the games sucked 8 MONTHS AGO so i had time to play them in those 8 months, and third, anyone has their own oppinion just because you don't like what someone else thinks you dont go telling em shit like that for example lets say some strong ass guy that could kick your ass would say i like corn and you didnt would you tellem'oh well you retard

  • @mustxgetxout first of all im not being a dick to anybody, just the game, second REMEMBER? i made a comparison of the two characters first, i didn't say the games sucked 8 MONTHS AGO so i had time to play them in those 8 months, and third, anyone has their own oppinion just because you don't like what someone else thinks you dont go telling em shit like that for example lets say some strong ass guy that could kick your ass would say i like corn and you didnt would you tellem'oh well you retarded

  • @mustxgetxout like i said idiot

  • This has to be one of the most far out video games I've ever seen

  • i used to think he said "my-toolbox" but i never knew what was it lol!

  • what does he say at 2:39???

  • @mikeydel2k11

I've got no idea! But I do remember playing this damn thing close to 20 years ago, and we used to say that the creature said "Mar-Salooba!" which, loosely translated, meant "I'm going to go f**k your mother now!" It was always good for a laugh.

  • I saw the opening scene part when i was like 8 yrs old and just today i found out that this is the name of the game.

  • Omg, I was so scared of this game as a kid! D':

  • I love how quick Lester Knight Chaykin snatches up that laser pistol.

  • Comment removed

  • i could have sworn there was a sega game similar to this like outer world where you start in a jungle ?

  • @babyoilnhand That's most likely Flashback. (Since you said jungle). Blackthorne plays somewhat similar too. (Hey Blizzard, I'd like a new Blackthorne pl0x)

  • @babyoilnhand This video gamplay is from the Sega Genesis. The original version for SNES looks nothing like this. So it might be the SNES version your talking about. :)

  • @kidedan Nope, this is definitely the SNES version. Plus the "original" version would be the PC version.

  • @Nirakolov Technically the "original" version was on the Amiga! It just got ported to every damn system and back again, the DOS version being arguably the best anyway as there was apparently one sequence partially cut out of the Amiga release.

  • @kidedan I remember seeing screen shots of the Genesis version in EGM, 9000 years ago. I remember noticing that the sky in the first scenes of the game was not blue, but green. The Genesis version had green skies. I was also lead to believe at some point by something that Genesis could render vector graphics quicker. I also always wonder what is going on when the SNES version here shows a loading screen of sorts. The sequel was made for Sega CD and probably another lame system like 3DO. PC?

  • I remember this game. I also remember they were making a big deal out of how revolutionary the graphics were at the time. They used some sort of technology I cant re,eber the name of it...it was pretty difficult for me.

  • @bwd81977

When I was a kid me and a friend were playing this game on the snes and his dad walked by and said "wow, that looks like PC graphics"

  • @fredlburrows Yeah I guess its just me geting older but games just aint what they used ot be. Id play nes or snes still to this day. The only new game I like is GTA San Andreas. Or Gran Turismo 4. I probably will never own a PS3.

  • @bwd81977

Dead rising is a good one.

  • @fredlburrows Really? What format is that for?

  • @bwd81977

xbox 360. The new one, dead rising 2, comes out today and is for all formats, including computer, I believe, but don't quote me on that.

You are a photographer stuck in a mall full of zombies, it sounds silly but its a lot of fun. You can literally use about anything in the mall as a weapon. From guns, to park benches, trash cans, chainsaws, pickaxes, brooms, toy light sabers, cash registers, katanas, meat cleavers, knives, baseball bats, etc.

Look it up here on youtube.

  • @rey5109 It's a SNES port of a PC game by Eric Chahi in 1991. BTW: Has a new game coming out soon called "From Dust". Might be neat.

  • @Nirakolov From dust???? Tell more if u know about it is a sequel? Out of this world is a great game as well as Flashback quest for identity. Best side scrolling games ever

  • @fpsNIGHTMARE Nope, it's completely new. I think it's supposed to play like Populous, but I have no idea. Still gonna guy it on launch though.

  • 9:06 gives me an orgasm!

  • This game was the inspiration to oddworld! But I am pretty sure this was more difficult!

  • this version has terrible lag.

  • @rerocks666 Yeah, but at least this version has music, not like the high res version...

  • 2:42 I always heard him say "Akuma"

  • I love this game. I heard the SNES had the BEST music of all the versions. I currently have it for the Panasonic 3DO game system and the graphics are amazing. The background is incredible on the 3DO. But the music isn't so great. QUESTION: in that first level... are those CHEMTRAILS in the sky?!!!!!

  • @mrjustin5 It's very possible. Artistically they needed a way to direct vision towards other features (A blank blue sky is non-directional) and it does kinda look like chemtrails.

  • I always thought it sounded like the alien guy was saying "My toolbar!" when he pats Lester on the shoulder :D

  • This game is a legend in it own class.

  • Great video, this game pissed me off at work i had to save the zsnes state sooo many friggin times just to get through it. Having to backtrack when i did something wrong was a bitch too

  • Comment removed

  • @ddlpro Good, film it. It's the goal of every speedrunner to eventually be beaten so they can try again.

  • lol i just found a speedruner that made it in 11:38

    /watch?v=xjuRLqXePlo

  • @ddlpro The 15th anniversary edition has no slowdown AND plays faster. This is SNES.

  • Is that seriously supposed to be a guy's head at 2:12 !?!?

  • @biglilnicky Well... an alien

  • ahhhhhh ok lol

  • The main character was testing some machine, and it ended up teleporting him into the world you see here. Basically, it's just a game of survial/thinking/A LOT OF DEATHS.

  • Good speed run - I still remember how frustrated this game made me back in the day.

  • lol also I've only just noticed, you killed the guard before he could call out "anusta" I don't think i've done that before, nice one.

  • nooooo you cut out the intro music at the start, thats great that music. Other than that great video, one of the best games I ever played!

  • @mintydog06 I also missed a lot of the hidden vistas, all for the sake of additional speed.

  • I liked some of the tricks you used to get through it quicker, especially where you jump through the locked door before your buddy opens it lol. How did you find that out?

  • @mintydog06 The first door clip I learned watching the TAS. This trick was easy to duplicate (simply move left a tiny bit and then jump right)

The best part of the TAS is at about 1minute in to my Part 2 video. I came up with my own trick to do this, but the TAS just runs right through. I was able to replicate that trick once or twice every hundred attempts which simply isn't good enough for a single segment speedrun.

  • What's the TAS?

  • This game is simply beautiful. I just love the art direction. Very simple, but detailed at the same time. The rotoscoped animations are great, too!

  • this reminds me of oddworld abes oddsey on the ps1 i think thats what its called

  • cool game.

took me and my friends AGES to finish it, but once you do, it pretty easy. it was fun trying to figure everything out - it's got a lot of neat secrets to it.

I always loved the part @ 9:12 . . . doing the diveroll and blowing the guy away :-)

  • This was back when games were designed for smart people, not the common retard.

  • @zinkerled lol. 'the common retard' such a good phrase.

  • @zinkerled Same as Fear Effect & Fear Effect 2. Takes a brain to play those as opposed to CoD.

  • @LeBadman i beat fear effect loved it, haven't finish fear effect 2 yet! i like the puzzles. this game would be difficult cause we are used 2 ques in there to help but amazing game is it that short?

  • @willotee I haven't finished any of the Fear Effects yet. :P But yes they are great games and I would rather sit on my 24" flatscreen playing the best SNES, PSX etc has to offer (or even some good old fun classics like Railroad Tycoon) than playing CoD. lol

  • @zinkerled Indeed.

  • Y'know, if Lester (Or whatever his name is) was never transported in the "Other world", the world there would have been... screwed.

    Too bad he died, though.

  • The ending would have been left up to interpretation if it weren't for the garbage sequel.

BTW: I'm making a game now, and it's heavily influenced by this game and the games by Nifflas. Anyone interested I'll put vids up over the next several months.

  • Nifflas........ i want to play it, it will be free obviously so nobody gets hurt. what will you be using to make it? i need all info, thank you

  • I'll be using the full version of GameMaker 7. I got all my storyboards and level "plans" ready, I just need to bunker down and actually do the work.

  • GM7 Nice! Ive been using that for years but i could only do the amateur stuff.

Now nobody should tell you how to do anything, but you must meet these three requirements:

    1. One hit you die, no exceptions

    2. Hard as fuck, split second deaths

    3. I need to _feel_ lost and confused, thats what kept me going in out of this world, i just had to see what i was running from the whole game, even though i beat it and i still dont know.

regardless i will be playing Nifflas, good luck

  • As I work on it I'll be updating on my Channel information. Any ideas or suggestions can be posted there. The storyboards are mostly done so I'm just trying to pack in secrets and hazards.

  • Is necesary kill that guy at 3:14? don`t you waste time?

  • It's not technically necessary, but it's extremely hard to shoot JUST the switch when it's easy to just shoot twice.

  • ahhh there is a switch in that place!...I play the game a long time ago and i don't remember good.Nice speedrun!

  • he says "my toolbox".

  • What the hell does the dude say at 2:42 ?

  • HA HA I always wondered the same thing, wft does he say ?

  • i hear ma tu va xD...is an alien , who knows¿ xD

  • it looks like an atari game, lol. pretty good game anyway, I'm seeing this because i can't pass the 2nd stage. yep, that's embarrazing, I know

  • You must be like 10 years old, because had you been alive back then, you'd realize how groundbreaking this game was graphically at the time.

  • this game inspired Heart of Darkness.

  • and Abe's Oddysee/Exodus. Good times.

  • the genesis version has no loading ( i think)

  • i just got this game i don't know if i like it or not :P me and my friend took turns trying to get as far as possible for a good 30-45 minutes then we gave up, i haven't played it much since then

  • lol @ 9:12 epic kick to the groin

  • wow Worse HQ ever!

  • That massive cavern that fills with water, I forgot to blow the wall before I flooded the dam so now its a big emty space. Is there a way aorund it?

  • omfg the last time i even saw and played this game was like when i was 6

  • whats the guy actually saying after he taps the other guys sholder and he turns around and stuff

  • Moonspeak.

  • I always thought it was 'Matseruba' lol Alien language.

Anyone know what the story is for this? Ive always just jumped in at the enderwater explosion bit

  • To this day my friends and I still tap eachother on the shoulder and say "Mytoba" lol

  • So do me and my brother lol

  • I remember renting this game... I had no freaking clue you had to jump on the rope at the beginning. I died so many times, plus it was freaky that I never got past this starting point.

Only 3 games ruined it for me in the starting. This game, and The Rocketeer.

I just couldn't win that damn race. I had no clue how to turn the plane around the corner or something.

Then there was Jurassic Park 2. I remember wasting my entire day searching for some fence to turn off or something.

  • I had the exact same problem with The Rocketeer. That damned race was impossible!

  • Correction... it was jurassic park the original on the snes. And looking at walkthroughs it seems so simple now. I had no clue though back then.

But the Rocketeer was just too much.

  • Translation:

    "Anushka!!"-"Knock it off!!"

    "Mite! Saluva!"-"Thanks! I owe ya!"

  • this game was so weird it used to really freak me out the whole persona of the game from the music to the characters were very surreal, i also remember it being a hard and confusing game at times

  • This game was so difficult!

  • Canasta Canasata

    Macho looba!

  • 2:38 "My tuba..."

  • There were a few SNES games that had loading times besides "OOTW."

    1. Mickey Mania

    2. Batman Forever

Those are the only two I can think of...

  • Madden '96 had some loading times.

  • Fatal Fury (PAL version) also has loading screens.

  • Comment removed

  • i always hated how the game felt so slow

  • That's fair enough, though. The SNES version did have a fair bit of slowdown compared to other versions. It's mostly the music as to why I chose this version.

  • hey you know, don't get me wrong but if lester awakes and he lloks at buddy, buddy smiles really ''cute''

  • if you chake the jail the guard says like: hey mister

  • the music of this game is so awesome

  • My threw bah? Anewsta. Anewsta!

  • this game kinda reminds me of Abe's Oddysee gameplay and how the music changes when an enemy sees you

  • ok. alright. Although this game had amazing cutscenes and pretty damn good animation/graphics for its time, it's no where NEAR the game everyone makes it out to be. It has piss-poor controls, and relies ENTIRELY on Trial-and-Error. There is absolutely no skill required to play this game. You just have to memorize the route, push the buttons at the *EXACT* right time and just get completely frustrated in the process. Some "great" game... yeah right...

  • This game was WELL ahead of its time. You have to look beyond the graphics for a game as this. Look at the bigger picture. This was a precursor and a progenitor. It was far ahead of its time

  • That's fine. Yes, I know it was ahead of its time. That doesn't make up for the fact that it completely relies on a lot of things that are greatly looked down upon in modern game design (learning ONLY by death, trial-and-error, no leeway for human error).

Let's just say it hasn't aged well.

  • Well you can't look at it as a modern game. You're right, it hasn't aged well, but for those that remember the significance of the game during its time, that's not really a problem.

I thought the game design was interesting. It was interesting b/c it kept the game player on their toes. Sure it was difficult, but in order to understand the world of OOTW, you had to make mistakes and test things out. Personally I would rather figure things out than have a game simply point out my objective,

  • o man this game used to freak the hell out of me. i could never get past those leaches. love the graphics

  • This game was drastically ahead of its time. It set the stage for many other games like prince of persia. Just watching it brings back so many memories.

  • Prince of Persia came first. Other than that, I agree.

  • And then Flashback. Flashback was my favorite out of all of them I think.

  • Mai Surubaah!!

  • A friend of mine used to call me "Matsaruba" bcuz I was always playing this game for a few weeks when he came over.

  • hehe my friend and I thought he used to say MATSUMBA. It was kind of funny for whatever reason.

  • We thought it was "Mar-salooba" or some such thing, and it translated as "I'm going to go f**k your mother now!"

  • I always thought it meant "Thanks for the jail break, now it's time to go eat some cheese. Later bro"

  • lol this game was hard as hell, games now got to easy to pass.

  • OMFG!!! I forgot all about this game! I used to play this all the time as a kid! HOLY SHIT!! I gotta fovorite this

  • Mi Su Maaa...

  • one of the best games of all time thank you so much Lokarin you played so well i died on the first pistol fight lol :) but that was in 2001 i still can't beleive it came out 10 years ago prior of me playing it exellent for its time sad number 2 the guy dies at the end but he saved an entire village from destruction he is a hero great work to you to eric chache well done be proud of your work :)

  • Nobody forces you to watch idiot -.-

  • It wasn't meant to the autor i was watching it to go through some parts i couldn't get through i was talking to phycotic332 that spoiled the fucking ending to me dumbass
