  • Hey! The viola he's holding in that picture was made by a Japaneze luthier named Heroshi Izuka. (I'm not certain of the spelling.) I was in the South Dakota symphony under Vardi's direction when Vardi bought that viola. I just think it's cool that I know something about this pic. Oh well. If I'm not mistaken, the instrument has Vardi's initials inlaid on the back.
