The worst thing has got to be when your foot caught in the stirrup, you have a better chance of getting away safely if your foot isn't caught. Otherwise, you are dragged around by a most likely scared horse, and are under its feet. :/
i feel soo sorry for th horses cuz they dident get a choice weither they wanted to fall or die or eveb break there neck i have a pony i luv him to bits hes never fallen over and i never want him to
its not as bad as some of you people make it out to be, i wish you would stop taking this stuff from the internet and putting it to look like it happens all the time
@LakonianChampion Actually, it does. Usually it isn't anything that hurts you a lot, it is often something you just get up from...So yeah, it looks like every person dies from this from some of these videos. But every year when I go to the shows (Lake Placid Horse Show) I see like 5 people thrown into the jumps, but usually they jump up,brush off, and get back to their horse. There is the occasional one that needs help getting off the field, but usually it isn't anything life threatening.
RIP all horses and riders that have died in riding and horse accidents. I feel so so bad for the rider, her/his family, trainers and espicaly the horse that died or has been seriously injured. Again, RIP horses and riders
my friends Katie was riding her pony in the warmup ring the pony had refused a jump but he usualy did every time. this time was diffrent, katie told her me when she was mounting that something felt off i told her to tell the trainer but she never did, the trainer told her to take it again, this time the pony skidded to a halt katie flew onto his neck then he reared up flipped her back and then flipped over ontop of her and crushed her and broke his own back leg in 4 places,
@sop1toalto2 we believe he had had a tiny crack in his front left knee and was trying so hard to work for her but he knew he could not jump, If only she had spoke up they would both still be here! RIP katie and Golden Daze
cross country is the worst thing for a horse. if you hit the jump ur poor horse goes down. not the jump. CROSS COUNTRY IS HORRIBLE!!! to an extent…it seems like abuse
@SamAndGonzo Excuse me, but do you even know what you're talking about at all? You obviously have never evented. Cross country is not abuse. It's rare that you would ever hit a jump, unless YOU, the RIDER, were doing something completely wrong. & You do realize that it's even more rare that the horse is going to be hurt, even by a rotational fall. The horse is fine 98% of the time, it's usually the rider that suffers the injuries. So please, educate yourself before you make ignorant comments.
@lovethosespots um actually i do know a lot about cross country. and doing small jumps isnt bad its when it gets to the upper levels of xc. and calm down freak. u can have ur opinion and i can have mine so screw you.
@SamAndGonzo Ha. Alright then. Obviously as an eventer myself I have no clue what I'm talking about, and you, the anti-eventer who has never had upper level cross country experience knows everything.
This is sad I dont like these sad videos....When I think of horses I think of the best place on earth...that is where I am the happiest...on the back of my horse...and when I see videos like thisi kinda wanna cry. I have devoted my life to horses...and my the people who have lost there life doing the same rest in peace. I have lost a love one but it was not a person.it was a beloved friend...pet...and rideing partner...it was a horse.RIP Chief, the mustang my u gallop through the fields of heaven
My daughter died from falling off her horse and he stepped on her heart. I don't know if a vest would have helped or not, but it might be worth looking into. It's too late for my girl, but not for others who still ride...
i'm so sorry...ive seen videos dedicated to your daughter... i truly mean it when i say may she be resting in peace and that riders like your daughter are what keep me riding...they are truly inspirational and teach me to not take life for granted. thank you for the comment. it means a lot.
@belle243 Yeah! Its sad there has to be deaths in this world..for people to actually listen :( Just looked at a few videos..its made me pretty scared of horses! We can get killed so so easily..
you have to remember that deaths are rare and we are always coming up with new ways to keep ourselves safe just because it happens we are all driven to ride better and still remember why we love it. I am sorry it happened to your daughter my friend was in intesive care for a month and she is paralyzized partialy, me and my mom both witnessed (I am 12)it and waited at the hospital it made me sad but didn't even faze me I am faithful in my horse
im jumping too and this at 0:43 was one day happening for me. he hit the jump with his front legs (the jump is broken now!) and he fell and landet on his front 'knees' nothing specially happend but i was totally in schok... (i dint know what he was thinking about... and he still allwaus run into the jump, he doesnt jump over it. maybe he think he can crush it???)
yeah, its true. always ride w/ a helmet. I don't care how badass you think you are. Last time i rode, i took a nasty spill off my horse and broke the viser right off my helmet. that was my first fall in 4 years
lol yeah...ouch...that sounds painful...i actually have had to retire (if thats how to word it) 3 of my helmets because they get so jacked up after my falls that they are "
declared" unsafe...been there done that with no helmet (luckily stayed on my horse) but i was scared to death the entire time xD
Joanne McPhearson. Not dead, but put in a permanent coma. She was only in her twenties when the accident happened. She would be in her forties now. She leaned down to fix a stirrup and the horse bolted and her head hit a tree. I never knew her but my parents did. I know her family misses her very much.
i was almost killed in the janurary of 2008 when my horse spooked and bucked and i flew sideways off and i recieved a closed head injury hip contusion and a lumbar strain the next monthe jessica forsyth was killed
yeah...i guess the only way to look at riding deaths is at least they went out doing something they loved and that is how they will always be remembered =[ if i have to die young, this is how i want to be remembered, riding, doing something i love
its like the third fall on a cross country course with the front camera angle, the horse fell on the guy and killed him about 2-3 years ago i think =[
the man that dies was the third video,, the man's horse tripped over the jump and landed on his head giving him a fractured skull and loads of internal bleeding. he died in the ambulance on the way to hospital...
Awful video work. :P!!!!!
