I think 3D is worthless, and a vast majority of my friends agree. Its extremely over priced in an industry that is as it stands being milked for every nickel. The films are usually worthless for script and content, such as journey to the center of the earth, and often incredibly disruptive to watch if you've ate food within several hours of the movie, such as Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It will prove to be the next "blue ray" or "Laser disc" I'm sure.

I beleave 3D will evolve there are allready talk of increasing the native framerate from long time film standerd of 24 fps to a much higher 48 or even 60 this will get rid of image judder which causes physiological viewing stress as the image is much more natural and fluid, Film makers will still have rules in creating 3D content and some content is better shown normaly in 2D as long as those rules are followed and creative content is produced I think it will be around for comming future.

I think 3D is a craze.
