The problem is not just with WMG, but with the RIAA in general. You can check websites like RIAA Radar to find out which all labels you should be boycotting, but start with the biggest four: Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, and EMI.
Start cutting indendependent music into your videos. It will only increase exposure to artists that need (and usually deserve) it, and it will only decrease interest in music produced by the recording industry cartel.

I doubt it, just with warner owned music, it usually has identifying embedded code, covers are usually safe, but some artists have contracts forbidding covers I know Van Morrison to be one of them.

I know Bob Malvasio from Canada who plays and sings ALL his own covers had his whole channel deleted by the Van Morrison people, also a guitar teacher friend of mine was threatened if he didn't remove all his van morrison lesson stuff, so yeah, Van Morrison is one is the "uncoverable" artists, as far as your subs disappearing, they could have been closed accounts, youtube cleans house once in awhile and removes those deleted accounts from your subs, its happened to me twice already.
The good news is that they really have no legal right to remove covered songs, where the music is actually covered and not taken from their recordings.
What sucks though..is that Some of the people with thousands and thousands of subs who have covered Warner music..still have their friggen videos up..! go figure!
Covers are not copyright protected unless its a plagerism issue. When you cover a song as long as you played the music, thre's no legal issue, but when a backing track is taken from the internet and said backing track contains embedded code, it is identified and therefore, in some instances, copyrighted. (even if it was paid for!!!

i wouldn't mind if they (warner bros) were genuinely concerned for the artists themselves, so they could pay them royalties that are due to them, but we all know this is not the case. it's so some fuckin record execs can rake in more money for themselves. greedy motherfuckers! the recording industry would be better off without these major record labels!

I doubt it, just with warner owned music, it usually has identifying embedded code, covers are usually safe, but some artists have contracts forbidding covers I know Van Morrison to be one of them.

I have a midi program on my computer that lets me make practically any sound I want....drums, bass, keys, guitars, you name it, all using my keyboard and mouse, the problem is, the keyboard only plays one octave at a time, so to play complicated piajno stuff, I'd have to blend a bunch of tracks together

(Another brick in the wall) I've had two videos removed with Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane backing. They were favorited by a lot of people. Instead of removing them from my collection, I left them in so people could see who removed them: IE the greedy bastards that would complain about two musical groups that don't even exist anymore.

its just the start!!, and just to let everyone know, I personally know of two artists on utube who have played/ sang all parts of their cover tunes and was still pulled for copyright infringments. Some big artists have contracts that don't allow for any "covers" of their tunes on utube at all. These artists are not noted so its a "russian roulette". P.S., they are also targeting folks with anti governmnt' [jewish] content even if its an original, I've had over 50 subs' disapear without explantn'

I know Bob Malvasio from Canada who plays and sings ALL his own covers had his whole channel deleted by the Van Morrison people, also a guitar teacher friend of mine was threatened if he didn't remove all his van morrison lesson stuff, so yeah, Van Morrison is one is the "uncoverable" artists, as far as your subs disappearing, they could have been closed accounts, youtube cleans house once in awhile and removes those deleted accounts from your subs, its happened to me twice already.

Covers are not copyright protected unless its a plagerism issue. When you cover a song as long as you played the music, thre's no legal issue, but when a backing track is taken from the internet and said backing track contains embedded code, it is identified and therefore, in some instances, copyrighted. (even if it was paid for!!!

Thanks Daniel. Jimi Hendrix and Lynyrd Skynyrd are a few of my favorite artists that Warner has there mitts into. They don't take down my covers of those artists because I dont use THEIR music, its simply a case of corporate greed here, Warner wanted more money than youtube can possibly afford to pay them, so they pulled this crap, I hear UMG is next, as soon as there contract expires, they may pull all theirs too, between the 2 of them, they own more than 1/2 of all record labels

My offer still stands for all youtube, if you want to cover a song and are not sure if the backing track you want to use has embedded code, send it to me and I will make a backing track for you that is not copyright protected, I do this not so much to get back at the greedy bastards, but to ensure my friends can have fun without worrying.

UMG will probably be next, even though they have a deal with youtube allowing them to put ads on your videos that use their copyrighted music, they are gonna make their own site, you see, they think that if youtube is prevented from using their music, youtube will not bee such a big place on the net anymore. Googletube thinks otherwise, you see, most of us are not here to listen to professional recordings, the sound quality is too poor for that, we are here because we can upload our own videos

Eric my friend, I will help you, tell me what music you'd like to use and I will make it for you free from any copyright claim, you see, it is perfectly legal to play someone elses music as long as they are credited, what is illegal is to use the artists recordings that the record label recorded, they own copyright to that, but if I play the music and credit the original artist, it is a cover and not protected by copyright.
