@TheDreia87 yes, sometimes you just have to live with the residual effects as improvement after 6 mos. slows a lot. I will say what I have said before: that among conditions you can have, this is just about as mild (if annoying) as it gets. Even though i had a pretty severe case of BP, I'm thankful for that.
@quinjames9. Yes, after all of this time, I still have considerable twitching when I'm tired or stressed. And I have tightness or pulling in the morning.
It's been 17 months since I've had it and everything you described in your video, I still have! I just want this all to go away and get my face back to the way it was. Will it ever?
At 15 months I have wrinkles on the bp side of my forehead as well as lots of pulling in around the left side of my chin, the bp side when I smile. I still have lots of twiching. Do you have similar side effects.
It will be 2 yrs of BP for me on Nov 10 2011 (my daughters birthday I was diagnosed during pregnancy). I also live in MS (Pearl) do you ever still see a chiropractor or anything? This disease has changed my life so signicantly and honestly I do not ever think I will get back to normal :-(
hi, thank you for making this video, I have had Bells Palsy twice over the last 6 years, and have a little facial weekness left permantently, i cope quite well on a daily basis but occasionally it gets me down, I like what you said at the end of your video ie learn to live with it, this is true and just what I needed to hear so thanks again.
I've had bp since may 2009 and my recovery is slowly improving. I'm now 14 months. I still have swelling and a squinty eye. My smile is about 70 percent. I'm looking at 18 months, hopefully I'll see more improvement. Sometimes when it rains, my face droops. How long was your daughter's first bout with bp. What is the difference in the two bouts with bp. Can you share that information with me, thanks.
My daughter first got bp in 2009 on the right side of her face. She never fully recovered like you. This year in March she got it again, but this time on the left side. Her mouth still doesn't move and her eye only closes halfway .
I was caught in a strong cold wind on saturday and although I was covered properly, I was still affected by the wind. I have been experiencing headaches in the back of my head , leg pain, which was preceded by a rash on my neck, since saturday. These simptoms don't last but I rember having a rash on my neck months before bp hit. Doctors can't conclude bp before it hits, so going to one won't help. Do you sometimes suffer with rashes, headaches and leg pain since you encountered bp.
Fitgir15 has beee posting weekly progress reports and has done accupuncture, exercise, chiropractic etc. She is now 11 months; although she has improved, outwardly there are no phyusical c hanges since the 7th month. Perhaps a year with bp will be significant. My progress is similar but Ihave a snear andd have only half a smile.
So little is known about bp, I think its all related to the individual for the most part. Many people get well within weeks. My son and grandson got it and recovered in two weeks. I trired everything and I'm still sick. A neurologist upon seeing me in my 6th month said I will only recover 70%, he concluded without testing, just looking. I'll keep you posted, thanks for responding.
Thank you for responding so quickly. When I do the exercises, my neck gets very sore. I still have the twiching, I'm not sure what it means but I have experienced progress as far as my speech goes. I can do p's and b's better but then again, it all depends of whats going on. If I talk to fast, my speech is slurred. Have you always been able to pronounciate as well as you do now.
@quinjames9 In the beginning, yes, I did have problems pronouncing "Ps and Bs". That, however, stopped after I was able to move my mouth more (after a couple of months). I still can't whistle too good even now though (I wasn't too good before the Bell's palsy either though).
@quinjames9 Sometimes, I think that if I had done more exercises, taken the steroids, gotten chiropractic treatment...or something of this sort, I would have had better results at the end, however, I don't know that for sure. There is much anecdotal evidence to suggest that doing all of that does not result in any better outcome than doing nothing at all (which is what I did).
@quinjames9 After about a year I stopped focusing so much on it---you know, constantly checking it out in the mirror, comparing my face to old pictures when I didn't have Bell's Palsy and stuff like that. That decision made me feel a lot better.
@quinjames9 After about 7 or 8 months I was pretty much where I am today. After that time, there were just incremental changes---some good, some not so good---until today. It is not static. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it goes back a little to more tightness and contraction.
I'm nine months and as much as I would like to see more progress, I think I've seen as much progress as I'm going to get. I believe after the 6th month your chances of having permanent damage goes up by 70%.
@quinjames9 Yes, sometimes it does but only a little. if I bite into something "tall" like a hamburger or sub, then it will close more. Really annoying...
Have your taste buds fully returned. Do you have speech problems periodically, so far I'm affected by these conditions and I have twitching occassionally. Initially I thought it was part of the healing process now I believe its just the condition acting out.
@quinjames9 My taste buds are fine and never really were affected but I do still have, like you, occasional twitching in the affected eye. I think it's there to stay.
I've had bp for nine months now and my face looks like yours. My eye just started watering and its smaller than the non bp eye. I long to have my face back but I fear I'll be limited to 75% recovery. I guess, like eveything else, I'll just hav to adjust and with the help of God I will. Thank you, I truly admire your adaptation to bp, I hope I will be accepting of my fate.
@quinjames9 I try not to focus too much on it. To tell you the truth, I've gotten used to it but it still is really annoying sometimes. Like I said, though, it certainly is not the worst thing in the world. It's not fatal and, for the most part, it's not painful. I'm thankful for that.

@exclamation3mark Probably stress. I'm not sure but many have attributed its onset to stress. I was under quite a bit of stress at that time.

What brought it on?

@Aphroditeuf16 The most improvement probably happens in the first 3-6 months. Afterward progress slows considerably.

if anyone needs a laugh, this helped me every single day. After 3 weeks, I am nearly recovered.
