  • I love my city, it's probably the most supportive community when it comes to LGBTQ and I've never seen so many supporters in one place than I did at our pride parade and festival...I've never felt more accepted LOVE YOU FREDERICTON <3

  • I am from Canada and i am also Gay and Proud to say FUCK HARPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And, correct me if I'm wrong, Alberta was one of the last places to allow same-sex marriage. And, in Manitoba high schools, we are being taught about lesbian and gay relationships with the whole Relationship Talk that's required. With our sex-ed, we also touch on gay and lesbian sex (protection, safe sex, risks, STIs, benefits) same as straight sex.

American gov't is poor and the population misinformed.

I've never been prouder to be Canadian.

(I loved Stephen Dion. I miss him.)

  • Most Canadians are faggots so I'm not surprised that they'd be supporting same sex marriage

  • @Bomber0907 Man, I am SO proud to be Canadian! Honestly, I respectfully disagree with you because I am SO privileged to live here with all my rights and freedoms and benefits. Thank goodness for a democratic society, and you can't bring me down! :) We are a modern society and that's why we're supporting it. Just as women and black people got the same rights and freedoms as everyone else, society is now accepting gays-as they should! I love Canada <3 :) !

  • I WANNA MOVE TO CANDA.... I THINK CANADA IS BETTER THAN MEXICOO, HELLA YEAH!! PLZ SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT TO DO!! TNX!!

  • this video should be renamed "what THESE Canadians think about same-sex marriage" "Canadians", although meant as "these selected few in my video" can be misinterpreted as "this is the view of all Canadians" which it is not

  • @567WORMBOY123 It's the view of the majority, babycakes. I know it pisses you off, but you need to accept it. Live and let live. Gays getting married isn't affecting you in any way.

  • @MissLeigh78 last tiem i checkwed we have a conservative majority government, and even IF the majority of people in canada agreed with it, it does not mean we all have to accept it, there are many right wing concepts the majority of citizens agree with that the liberals would like to see done away with, the most i can agree to is what you said "live and let live" gays want to be married, alright i can accept that, at a price

  • Thats kinda funny, The first girl ho started talking "the people who don't aggree with it don't need to be part of it" hmmm thats not fascist or anything. I wonder if the polygamysts get the same rights...

  • the girl said it was voted on no it never was voted on the liberal government decided that we would pass same sex marriage as a law....

  • Dear Mr. Harper,

    FUCK. YOU.

Sincerely, a proud Canadian and a member of the LGBT community.

  • People should join the United Church.

  • @burnaby360 yaaaa biggest Church in Canada that accepts gay marriage lol

  • what debate? what controversy?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm totally agree with same sex-marriage because I think you express yourself the love to anyone you love at whole lot and I'd be glade to have this benefit in my country, but we'll get it on 2013 and I'll have to tie the know in a registry office cause cannot tie it at a catholic church as I was used since I was a little boy. I'm from Colombia and I really look up Canada, the Netherlands and others because they have a wide soetial acceptance for LGBTI people.

  • Wow! That's awesome!

Why can't the U.S. stop being so stupid and finally make it legal in all states?? I mean, seriously.

  • Could anyone tell me what language he speaks or did speak? I don't remember the english language having that many 'S's in it. What kind of accent is that.

  • i find it weird for same sex to be with eachother but i guess i just dont understand- they do- so i support them, im canadian and i dont mind same-sex marrage being legal.

  • The best countries in the world are Sweden, Denmark, Norway etc. but they dont speak English :(

  • Dear God, why is Canada so cool? They're kicking America's ass left and right in terms of health care and social reforms and... and can we even call ourselves the number one country in the world anymore? Shame on us...

  • @SuperSeaweedSoup Immigrate to Canada! xD

  • @SuperSeaweedSoup Try living here for more then 5 minutes you will get a different answer.

  • Dude haha I from Mexico and they don't allow it nxt time put a fact on it

  • @halofreak1398 actually gay marriage can't be performed in Mexico but Mexico recognizes gay marriage.

  • god this is why the other countries are beating us america. canadas got gay marriage mexico has gay marriage, even south africa has gay marriage. i wanna move to canada becuase this is how people are over tthere, kind and respectful. notice how no one said that being gay was an abomination or evil or against god. because canada is full of genuinly nice people.

  • Congrats Canada on six years of legal gay marriage!

  • what happens when gays marry? nukes explode? no. world war 3? no. hitler zombie? no. gays marry? yes why is it such a big deal

  • best country ever ;)

  • @jjiiooo not anymore. Harper has the majority now....

  • @plasticfelinerodent Yeah, I know. We're fucked now.

  • I'm not Canadian, and I'm not against gay marriage. But 10 peoples opinions on the contentious matter isn't enough to conclude "What Canadians think about gay marriage."

You should consider including statistical support that draws opinion on a larger group, or change the title to "What 10 Canadians think about same sex marriage."

  • The woman at 1:24, I say: FUCK YOU!!

  • this is why i love Canada :D

  • I performed a ceremony between to beautiful and lovely men. If their wedding was overturned, I would move out of Canada.

  • Man, one day I want to live in Canada.

  • I want to move to Canada. So much better than America

  • @RocketshipToPluto Come on up :) We've got shitloads of room up here, lol.

  • @RocketshipToPluto lol, canada is in america!!

  • I need to move to Canada.. O.o

  • God I wish I could marry a dinosaur...

  • I am so proud of my country right now. :)

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts no they do

its uneducated liars like you that dont deserve any rights

  • @idaman12345 I have said the Truth.. problem is that faggots like you cannot accept the TRUTH... thus you call me a liar.. you are the ignorant one..One day you will see the light of day... but for now you go ahead and lick your own bunghole... heheh hehehe eheheh ...... I will stick to pussy, something you cant get, what a shame.

  • @liesAlwaysHerts prove any of what youve said is truthful

you cant, because you havent said anything truthful

  • @idaman12345 I have given you all the truth, but you keep rejecting it. So it means you are irrelevant to me.

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts if you were speaking the truth, youd be able to show proof

instead you run like the cowardly liar you are

  • @idaman12345 I am tired of you... you're a nobody. You ask for truth, I gave, you reject.

    SHow me your truth.

Actually, dont bother. you're an idiot. Go in the kitchen and make me a fucking sandwich

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts you gave me what you claim to be truth

    i asked for proof

    and nothing

  • @idaman12345 your turn to provide some proof.

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts just as I thought YOU GOT NOTHING

    You've been busted

  • @idaman12345

I gave it to you and you rejected it. why don't you come up with the proof.

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts you've given lies

And claim it to be true

If it wasw true then you'd have proof

  • @idaman12345 balh blah blah you're boring

  • @TruthAlwaysHerts just because im proving you to be the fraud you are doesnt make me boring

the truth really does hurt doesn't it?

  • This shit is complete Garbage, Eh?

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 Hurf durf Canadians say "eh", you're so clever for pretending as if that stereotype about us is true.

  • @BigMikeMcBastard It's a JOKE dumbass, I'm Canadian myself (from T.O.), you Fucking Idiot, your probably from like Lee's Summit Missouri or some shit you jackoff

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 Yeah, I know you're from Toronto, it says in your profile, and I know it was a joke. I'm saying it was a stupid and obvious joke. Way to spaz out though.

  • I'm so glad I found this video.

I wish the States would finally come around to this view.

    Equality for all!

  • @gilliandawe91 Amen!

  • I'm all for gay marriage, there's no logical debate you can make against it, but this video was basically one sided propaganda. I could have gone to downtown Calgary and made the exact opposite video. I mean, it's not like it's news so it's not a big deal, but it doesn't really represent anything.

  • @perfectzero001 Yes there is. What's the origin and proper definition of marriage?

  • @geofreyr

That's not anything close to a logical argument.

  • @perfectzero001On the contrary, it's quite logical to argue based on a proper definition as opposed to arguing something based on a redefinition, that is, if you accept the premise that marriage is the "institution whereby a man and a women a joined in a special kind of social and legal dependence", as any authorative dictionary states, like the Penguin English Dictionary.

  • @geofreyr That's not the original definition of marriage either. It would have been something like "a bonding of a man and a woman in the eyes of god (or Odin, or Rah etc.)", since originally it would have been a purely church handled issue, not a state one. We've clearly moved passed such nonsense, as we freely allow non-religious folk to marry.

You're free to believe it's wrong or it's right, but it shouldn't affect the law. I take comfort in knowing your attitude is slowly dying out.

  • @perfectzero001 You a right, the proper definition sits contextually within the Church.

You clearly adhere to the separation of Church and state and if so, why not leave holy Matrimony with the Church and adhere to a state institution like civil unions?

  • @geofreyr I would actually be okay with that, but marriage IS a government institution. If marriage was completely taken out of government for straights and gays, I would be fine with individual churches deciding whether or not they would recognize "marriages". I wouldn't force the Catholic church to marry two men and I wouldn't want to punish the Unitarians for allowing it

If it's the same government rules across the board, and they don't say one love is greater than another, then cool.

  • @perfectzero001 Sounds reasonable, I think I agree with you. Interesting situation then that marriage is both a state and Religious institution - I guess it must be part of both because there needs to be legal (state) aspects to a marriage agreement.

  • @geofreyr do definitions change over time?

  • @redsoxfan1984 It depends on what you mean in the definition of your statement (lol). If you're suggesting that, let's say "temporal" definition - ie, you accept that a definition depends on place, time, people and so-forth, then yes, definitions do change. Conversely, if you accept that at the inception of the word it was given its proper meaning (proper/absolute, whatever), then no. This is its definition and it never changes, regardless of the human position at the time.

  • This isn't about gay rights, it's about human rights.

If the government has the power to tell you who you can and can't marry, then who's to say they wont try and take away other rights as well? If you don't agree with same-sex marriage, fine - don't get one. But stop advocating the ability for the government to take away the rights of the people.

  • Does that man ever blink?

  • I find it funny that the Canadians follow the American Declaration of Independence more than Americans.

  • @redsoxfan1984 Thats True

  • @redsoxfan1984 What does the declaration of independance say pertaining to gay marriage?

  • @geofreyr Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I think entering into a bond that signifies two people's love of each other falls under 'pursuit of happiness'.

  • @redsoxfan1984 Yes, so it seems... I am amused that in the US, amongst some people, "libertarian" has become a bad word, when it really means "someone who supports freedom", which implies that people who are ANTI-libertarian DON'T like freedom...

  • also, why's this dude try to talk like a girl?

  • canada sucks

  • 2:12-3:16

    My thoughts exactly!

  • the straw man arguments prejudiced people use against same-sex marriage like that one guy said are endless

  • What's wrong with this guy's eyes?:)

  • We can't have a debate on same-sex marriage! Parents might have to explain to their children what homosexuality is.

US Rep Ike Skelton said it best: “What do mommies and daddies say to their 7-year-old child?” the 78-year-old Skelton said. “My biggest concerns are the family.”

That's the final word, we can't discuss anything involving homosexuality. Parents today simply can't handle the pressure... of being parents.

  • @AdamTh1 Sure they can. They probably just don't want to be forced to explain to their children why their sex education teachers say gay sex is natural and normal when they know it's not.

  • @geofreyr Scientists have observed homosexuality in nearly every single animal species on the planet. Since it has been observed in nature, it is therefore natural.

  • @redsoxfan1984 rape and murder is observed too .. no, I don't subscribe to that definition of what is natural. I think the other, what nature intended if you like (male and female reproductive organs), is a more reasonable definition.

  • @geofreyr Does that matter? Equality is all the matters. All gay people want is the equal protections and rights from the state and country.

Also, I hate this 'natural' definition. Nearly every single species of animals has been observed in some sort of homosexual activity. In nature. Therefore, it's natural :)

  • you are a faggot!

  • @joe546213 Well.. If he was a 'fagot' Which you spelled wrong. I would totally smoke him. Cause he looks like a tastey CIGARETTE! YOU IGNORANT BIGOT! Spell the fucking word right, If you're going to say it! Oh and also, Don't say it, If you do not know what the fuck it means! CIGARETTES AND STICKS! Fucking ignorant people I swear.

  • When I think about the debate it makes me slightly ashamed to be an American and especially a Californian. In the United States, we have a strong constitution and over 200 years of court rulings pointing to equal protection under the law, so it's baffling that our governments struggle to achieve marriage equality.

Because sexual orientation is established at birth, there should be no discrimination with regard to whom civil marriage licenses are given.

  • @garzj019 don't be ashamed ...Same sex marriage is unnatural and should not be given equal rights for the sake of society

  • @Userman969 And that is why you and your little teabagging friends will once again be on the wrong side of history. Hell has a special place for the Hitlers and those who propagate hate and intolerance.

  • @garzj019 You shmuck, in all rational societies in the human history, gay marriage has been condemned because it is a choice, a fashion for a man or a woman who is not accepted by another gender because of their poor choices..it is unnatural, filthy, irrational, destructive and wrong...it is not intolerance you shmuck, do you want to be tolerant to a serial killer, or a rapist??? I guess not

  • @Userman969 Same sex marriage has been around for thousands of years. It saw a dip with religion, which fucked everything else up anyway.

America has seen the face of intolerance, it's fought it on several fronts both domestically and abroad through its history. For you to ignore it is shameful, embarrassing, filthy, destructive and wrong.

You're nothing but a bigot who will either die alone or with a fellow bigot, you'll be a bitter old man or lady who only knew what they were against.

  • @garzj019 On the contrary, it's unlikely that garzj019 will die alone because his view represents a global majority.

I'm also intrigued by your statement: "Same sex marriage has been around for thousands of years. It saw a dip with religion" - considering ancient religious cultures like the Hebrews never allowed it and I don't know of any contemporaneous cultures that did, can you please explain?

  • Comment removed

  • @geofreyr I think your reply was misdirected. Anyway, take the Chinese and the Romans, for example. They had same sex marriage and domestic partnerships. And Hebrews today, in Israel, accept same sex marriage and any other non-religious marriages performed outside of Israel.

  • @Userman969

Equating the consentual behavior of adults to that of

a serial killer or a rapist? Now that's irrational!

  • @Userman969 you do realize what intolerant (or intolerance) means right?

that is intolerance no matter what you "think"

  • @idaman12345 Are you tolerant of those who say homosexuality is immoral?

  • @geofreyr to a point i am, but depending on how far they go to say it

  • @Userman969 its as much of a choice to be gay as it is to be straight

  • @idaman12345 possibly, but our phsyiology is geared toward being straight and therefore can be (strongly) argued that it's natural/normal, to be inclined that way.

  • @geofreyr is it natural to be self serving? cuase most people are that? is it natural to be hateful, jealous, pack mentality creatures that we are? cause most people are those things.

  • @arksnark It depends on your definition of "natural", just because I feel and act some particular way doesn't make it natural, but again, we have to define what natural means, this is a very contested area. Here's an example, I would say it's natural for me to consume food through my mouth as opposed to say IV, would you agree?

  • @geofreyr indeed.

  • @arksnark using this rationale, do you agree that a similar argument can be used to show the proper use of the reproductive organs?

  • @geofreyr well, no, i think they are differnt subjects. see the I.V. thing is something taht someone will do to survive, or heal, or for a medical reason like that. same sex feelings are somthing most gay people have always felt, are a intricate part of them. just like striaght people need love and intamacy, gay people need the same, just with people of the same gender.

  • @Userman969 see now unlike homosexuals, serial killers and rapists choose to do what they do

    so dont compare them

  • @garzj019

    Amen,

I thank God that I live in a republic whose protections

are cherished and have been handed down from the

most sublime document of the common era, the US

    constitution!

  • @garzj019 "Because sexual orientation is established at birth" - though that is sometimes claimed it certainly isn't on scientific grounds.

  • One day, people will learn that the majority cannot dictate the rights of a minority group. Canadians have the right idea. If your children will not be ashamed of your bigotry and hate, your grandchildren will be.

  • Fair enough. However given a bigger sample size and depending on the method the question was asked, one would expect the elderly to oppose gay marriage, given they're generally more socially conservative.

  • Yes there is a bias in this video and the result is to be expected. Just like if I asked the older (and wiser) the same question, the answers would be the opposite. It's called selection bias.

  • @geofreyr Then watch the video with the older wiser women and see her answer

  • @geofreyr I am a wise 58 year old woman that is in favor of same sex marriage. Don't play the generation card, you'll lose.

  • @Albtraumen Perhaps you're not as wise as you think.

  • @geofreyr Perhaps you should look in the mirror and mull it over child;0)

  • Comment removed

  • @Albtraumen The folly of fools sounds right to them.

  • @geofreyr RAmen!

  • @geofreyr So why is it that old is always, always synonymous with wiser?

  • @Azurite22 probably because our society was more socially conservative in the past of which the now aged were part of.

  • @geofreyr Lol, you're an idiot. HE ALREADY INTERVIEWED an EXTREMELY old person about the same thing! idiot!

  • @XforeverlongingX err, yeah, I know that, read the question that i'm answering "why is it that old is always *synonymous* with wiser" - to which I answered - nothing to do with whether or not an old person is actually in the video.

So, perhaps you're the idiot eh?

  • go to my website marry a mexican to get workers on the fast track to citizenship

  • It is amazing how stupid Canadians have become!! This video is a proof of that. Sad bunch of people.

  • @axs2 No.. smart people, people who actually act as a nation, If they are tolerant. The United States is a hypocritical Country, That only follows selected things, And talks it's way around things. If a homosexual man, Was President, Or a Lesbian. Things in this Country, Would be so much better. They would focus on the people's needs are. They would KNOW how to run a Country better, Then President Obama. I am not racist, But he should not of been elected, Nor McCain.

  • @brian555666 What ass are you pulling this out of? Are you asserting that just because a person is gay they can automatically run economies, wars, and republics better? Where is the evidence.

  • Canada rocks...

However, I want to experience the federal recognition of same-sex marriage on The United States. Americans should open their minds about liberlism, freedom and tolerance like it was stated in Constitution . Those who support Prop8 are the toally spycho freaks .

  • America needs more Canadians.

  • Another fine example of a Canada > USA. I mean, they have had gay marriage laws since 2005. Only 1\25 of the states allow it! And we always boast about how free we are how much equality we hold! What hypocrisy USA!

  • ask some straight people...assole

  • only one person in this video is gay ......dumbass.....

  • @Grimace dont you love it when people like that assume since they support gay marriage they must be gay?

  • @Grimace doesn't matter. you didn't cover anyone with different perspectives. why not?

  • @bbienven1 Because every single person I asked that day had the same opinion, make your own video

  • @Grimace - Ok. no comment here. Hope you got the answers you were looking for...maybe that makes you feel justified.

  • @bbienven1 I KNOW THAT SEEMS HARSH TO SAY INSECURE AND IGNORANT , BUT THINK ABT IT, ON BOTH SIDES. YOU HAVE ONE SIDE STATING YOU ARE WRONG IN EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE, BUT IN OUR HEARTS WE KNOW GOD MADE US THIS WAY. WE ARE CONSTANTLY BATTLING FOR THE RESPECT THAT WE ARE NOT GIVEN AND WITH WHAT SO CALLED CHRISTIANS, NOT ALL ,BUT ALOT SAY WE ARE AN ABOMINATION, WE KNOW IT NOT TO BE TRUE, BUT THATS FINE FOR SOMEONE TO DISAGREE , BUT WHEN IT IS HURTING OUR WAY OF LIFE, U BET WE ARENT GONNA TAKE IT.

  • @Grimace Well said. I'm proud of Canada for legalizing same sex marriage.

  • @Grimace hahaha. I'm a straight Christian United States citizen and I support this video.

  • @Grimace All you had to do was interview older people, who would have given a more traditional opinion. But you interviewed Canadas entire Y generation, you fucken' lib idiot. You might as well have gone to a college, & asked everyone there about what they thought on multiculturalism, or diversity. What do you think they are going to say? You operated that just like the liberal media at large. And you wonder why libertarians & conservatives call you guys biased. Liberals are very ageist.

  • @TheMedievalMan my perants are old , 57 and 65, and they support gay rights.

my grandmother of 75 supports gay rights.

and if liberals are ageist, then may i make a untrue blanket statemnet and point out conservitaves are homophobic, fought agaisnt blakc rights, and womens equality.

  • @arksnark Of course your parents and grandparents support gay rights. BECAUSE THEY RAISED YOU. I posted this comment to the person who made the video, he has to answer it. Most liberals are ageist, look at the media and who they target. Its always the young, they know this because young people are easier to convince and indoctrinate. Older people not as much since they have already made up their minds on how they feel a society, and their life should be, this is natural with different ages.

  • @TheMedievalMan or because they were rasied in a more hateful time perhaps? they are jsut as easily influecned as children...

  • @arksnark And liberals dont hate? Oh no, they just name call out of love for their political opponents.

  • @TheMedievalMan of course they hate. everyone does. I hate, you hate. its in human nature. but at least they want to treat all people the same.

may i ask what exacley you dislike about librals so much?

  • @arksnark Because they want to treat all people the same.

  • @bbienven1 MAYBE HE DIDNT FIND ANYONE IGNORANT OR INSECURE LIKE WE FIND HERE IN THE USA. I SAW A COMMENT U MADE ABT A VIDEO ON CANADAS VIEWS ON GAY MARRIAGE. HAD TO COMMENT, DORIAN HERE.

  • @dorianstark Hi Dorian. I don't mind the comment. I'm in the USA where people are free to express their views, so I appreciate it. Perhaps he didn't find anyone who had another view. However, I don't see why someone with an opposing view would be 'ignorant' or 'insecure'. The same people who fight for gay rights say that it is unfair for them to be labeled and for people to be intolerant. The same should apply here. If I posted a video with only one view...I would be biased..smh.

  • I'm not gay at all, but that doesn't mean I hate gay people or that I think they shouldn't be married. They're human beings just like you and I, and they deserve to live their lives with whoever they love. People who don't want that are really just ignorant, religious fundamentalists, who are, in my opinion, the main reason why there's so much intolerance, hate and conflict in this world.

  • This is why canada is way better then america, america is ment to be a country of equal rights (bull shit) america is lies!

  • @neil22100 ...and this is why I'm moving to canada the second i graduate

  • @neil22100 It sure is, And I live in this ignorant ass Country. I wish I could move, but I won't be able to do thaaaat until I save up enough money.

  • @neil22100 move to canada! lol.

  • @neil22100 Here here!

  • Comment removed

  • whoever made this video only icluded the people who supported gay marriage.totally fucking biased!

  • @joe546213 I only included everysingle person I asked...Not My fault everyone supported it

  • I agree, I live in Vancouver and EVERYONE here supports it too. It doesn't make sense to not support it.

    Americans are a little strange.

  • No, it's just a melting pot of different cultures and ideas. Alot of americans support SSM.

  • if god made adam and eve and they have two children, two boys, how did they have children

  • @AceofDimonds0 God made Eve with Adam's rib cage. OMG, does that mean that if I want a wife, I can just take part of my ribs and and poof I have a wife?? You retard

  • LOL! i like u

  • @AceofDimonds0 God made Eve from Adam's ribs. OMG, so If I want a wife, I can just use part of my rib cage?? You retard

  • @zincdude01 hey we have more than one rib too! So that MUST be a justification for polygamy!! please, lol i guess it was easy to come up with that story instead of saying that he had to chase her around the garden with a hardon lmfao!

  • Arguing with a Bible when there is separation of church and state is silly. Please explain who's version of Christianity should be used as the tyrant point of view. Catholics or Protestants? And how long do you think it will take before you all start killing eachother in the street like a bunch of animals? The separation of church & state is what allows you to freely practice your beliefs without fear of persecution. However, this goes across the board to everyone including gays & non-Xtians.

  • If you don't agree agree with gay marriage then don't marry a gay person.
