One of the things that makes a hula hoop performance great for me is the choice of music and how well the hooping/dancing fits with it. You can make your own with iragation tubing or buy one made by someone else off of etsy. You will need prismatic and gaffer tapes which can be aquired from identitape.

I bought mine from walmart, the wavehoop, it's a great way to start practicing becau the hoop is pretty slow. I then bought tape and decorated it myself.. or like candyann22 said, buy your won tubing.
