I homeschooled my sons through elementary school, and when we enrolled them in a Christain school they socialized just fine. Children who spend a lot of time in one on one conversation with a caring adult can usually socialize with anyone.
I personally think that spending 8 hours a day with 30 other kids your own age and just one adult is bad for kids socialization. They tend to hear only the opinions of other kids their age, and they pick up bad habits from other kids.
We are extraverted, right brained, secular HSers. We live in a multicultural neighborhood in the *gasp* real world. The stereotypes do not apply. My kid is helping to plan an independent film festival this year. I dont know many other 12 year olds who do that.
im home schooled and i have tons of friends... i agree ...... people who dont know crap about home schooling should not open their mouth...cause i am definatly not a social misfit lol
everyone asks my mom the same question what about socialization? and she say's have you met my children.i've been homeschooled for the past 11 years and i love it.i'm barly ever home i have a job and my sister is now in collage.dont get discourage when people ask stupid questions they are just concern about your childrens wellbeing even if they dont know you.
I've know about homeschooling for years. There are home schoolers who allow their children to interact with other kids who are taught the same (i.e. field trips, hikes, dances etc.) I've even heard of home school baseball/softball leagues. i know this information without even researching it.
It amazes me that saying Mom and Dad is discriminatory when most kids have moms and dads... It is ok however to leave out mom and dad as if that does not hurt the children with traditional families
lolwut?

We homeschooled our two boys in the 80s and 90s.
They both loved it and did well.
They have open minds, good jobs and a positive outlook.
You have to believe in what you are doing. Don't let the dumb ones get you down. It works, my two boys prove the point.

I homeschooled my last few years of high school :P
I got sick so I was stuck at home. I missed all the grad stuff... effin' lame... I didn't get to see anyone.
My grades were fantastic though, so now I get to teach in the UK as an intern XD
Thumbs up for homeschooling! Just make sure you get out in the community to socialize yourself.
