@Valyn66 It is a pet owners duty to teach others how to act around their pet, just as it his/her duty to teach their pet how to act around people and other animals. A kid isn't likely to sneek up on anything, you'd probably see a kid running at your dog a mile away and be able to stop the kid before he/she mistreated the dog.
thanks for the video, trying to get all the information i can so in 5 years or so i can get a ovcharka myself i fell in the love with these dogs the past year when i found out they existed :P
i agree totally with you there, even so called friendly dogs like the newfoundland dog or saint bernard can become a big problem if you do not socialize them well( that goes by the way for any dog,for that matter), they need to be socialized very well and need to be trained, and you as boss need to mske sure that the dog knows at all times that you are the pack leader.
@RockhillCaucasians Yelenas beso is lovely though, i think he is about 200 and is still functional. Tibet is a lovely dog also, i love the picture of him just sitting there, looking attentively around. A bit off topic, but what do you think of the chinese bred tibetan mastiffs?
@ovcharkasuk If i see any of her older dogs still alive and healthy, then i will take back everything i said and personally apologise to her and her lovely looking dogs. But a lot of people are curious as to why she only shows here 3 year old stud males
@RockhillCaucasians You dont need to add the final bit of that comment, i know you are an ethical breeder, you do not have to convince me. I have to say though that i think that Stacey's female is downright ugly, bear type or not whereas people think Tshienke is too overdone (i hope i spelt that right) and i think he is perfect.
I speak Georgian, and this dog is a Georgian and Caucasian called because of the Soviet Union when they were seized by the Russians and now the most powerful on the more variety they inhabit, but soon they will be soon started their transportation.
@edtri19 We also have Hunza line. Our Blossom is daughter of Leyla Hunza and we have produced many Hunza grandchildren in our kennel. Frankly we don't notice much difference. What exactly do you prefer about Hunza line?
@edtri19 Concerns regarding irresponsible breed practices are not unsubstantiated and I'm now proud to call Yelena a friend. Otherwise you seem to have good judgment when it comes to both dogs and people.
@RockhillCaucasians Stab in the dark here but are you brada on the forums? Yes, i would never buy a dog from stacy, it seems all her dogs adie after 3 years or at least she keeps all those over this age in a locked cellar.
And how can you stay this stuff ?!?!? You dont even know stacy Iv just got of the phone to her and she does not even have a cellar And her dogs do not die after 3 years and rockhill knows that not ture !!!
Ok, but there was an absolutely enormous thread on molosser dogs, over 100 pages long, involving stacey and yelena of legend caucasians. Stacey was asked many times to show photos of her dogs, but would only show the young dogs, she showed no photos of the older dogs. Either they had died, she has sold them or she was too embarassed to show them
@edtri19 Does not mean they die after 3 years old ...You can see many photos of her dogs on her website why should she just posting them over and over again ?!? i would not ??!? And why do peoeple think you are me ?!?!
@RockhillCaucasians How do you feel about using Caucasian Ovtcharka [or other mountain mollosoid breed i.e. tibetan mastiff] to cart pulling or moving wood hogs with their jaws?? Will it bring dominance or make the canine deplete extra energy? I have a forest and need to make some tree tops less dense :)
Excellent dog. And respect to the owner for socialization. I own one of these beasts myself, and know what it makes to make this dog to be nice to strangers, or at least to let them come close and touch the dog. It is almost impossible.
Though, it is the best breed ever for a family. It is a bodyguard, a babysitter, a true friend to all the family. But it requires some experience in handling and training because of its tricky and difficult character
Thanks! Yes, Tibet is a beautiful dog. He's also a supreme guard dog. Often owners of this breed inadvertently encourage obsessive aggression thinking it genetics. In truth, obsession is a sign of an unbalanced dog.
Everyone thinks their dog is the balanced one. Until a kid runs up and pulls your Ovcharka's tail and promptly gets murdered on the spot.
It is cool to see one of these running around without a leash, though. Especially since it looks like nobody died this time.

Wow I'm amazed by how calm and obedient this dog is considering the instinctive aggressiveness of these dogs.
To the poster of this video what is involved in training a dog like this to be so calm and friendly?

@mfl1992 Nothing special really just treat your dog like a dog. That is the way nature intended. Thanks for your question!

i agree. But not the best dog for very many people because few know how to handle a dominant dog.
It is wrong to advertise them as cute, cuddly family dog like they portray here.

That is rare to have strangers that close.
Caucasian Ovcharka does not trust outsiders.
I heard of very rare occasions when CO can be mellow enough to be taken around people.
Beautiful dog. Good owners.
