  • how does this have 27K views

  • @irish14nd

    I'll give you two reasons:

    (1) There are similar videos that have near, or well exceeded, 100,000 views.

    (2) There are a LOT of people that like elevators, many keep it secret.

  • Nice Best Buy.

  • Why would a Best Buy NEED an elevator?

  • @Thedddhomevideos

The parking garage is underneath the store. It's built on a hill, so the parking lot on the surface is small.

  • @georgef551 Cool!

  • Looks like this video struck 20,000 Video Views.

  • @mdbv25

    Squeaked on by, didn't it?

    Thanks for letting me know.

  • elevatorsonly said that it felt like a death trap

  • @MG47126

It could've been when he rode it, which was about a year before this ride.

In my 10K view celebration video, that one was having hydro issues. 2 weeks later, when I went to get something there, that lift was broke.

  • why do you touch the number first then touch the button?

  • @stevethemeave45

It's pointless on a 2-story ride, but I point to the destination, then hit the button.

  • These elevators are death traps!!!!

  • Did they go bad? You're the 2'nd person who said that. They were fine when I recorded this.

  • I found out that those were originally Dover then modernized by Keystone. It has a Dover track. Also an update on the second one you rode is a Death Trap. I rode it up on the floor and it made a loud noise like a really loud rumble which means it is really low on oil.

  • A rumble does not a death trap make (in my opinion). One problem, one simple fix. Rides fine otherwise. If it were real bad, I'd call it one. However, between the time you rode it, and I, it either got worse, or was maintained (rode it before, or after I did. It did sound awful when elevatorsonly rode it, not-so-bad when I did).

  • It was really bad like the larger Dover at JCPenny what lielevators filmed except it was just the leveling that was louder than that Dover and very bouncy and it was very dangerous. You should ride it again sometime and you'll see what I mean. It's like when you here it when it is low on oil.

  • Could've changed. Was fine when I was there. Could be broke my now. I guess that one could use a little more attnetion.

  • Wow. I actually have a POPULAR elevator video!

    WHO KNEW?!

  • danny12315: WRONG!! That goes with your country.

  • I'm afraid I don't understand

  • What are you referring to? There's a few stories in this thread.

  • I'm referring to the movie. lol.

  • The elevators?

It's an Enthusiast thing. It's similar to Train Spotting in a sense. Some people just love to record trains, in this case, I, along with about 220 others (that's the last count from a month ago), record elevators. Glass ones are better: you get to see the results. A lot of people don't get it. Then again, lots used to not get trainspotting, either.

  • Ok. This elevator is like 10 mins from my house. I guess in some places there are no elevators, so it would be amusing.

  • Actually, enthusiasts try to ride as many as they can, but I have limits, like:

    * Employee elevators

    * Anything "No Trespassing", unless I am there legitimately.

I'm not sure how many different elevators I have under my belt. I know it's over 50 of them.

  • Load up U sonofabitch!!!!!

  • I take it the "Scheduled Maintanance" didn't help in the very poor Northeast bandwidth issues. It's getting real bad here as well: 5 minutes to load a 90-second, crappy mobile phone video. Yay.

  • Actually georgef551 that guy is from Canada, so he may be wrong for the USA.

  • Meh. Best to play it safe, although I cuaght myself doing it during the Chronicle Shoot: waiting for them to meet me at the garage. I didn't do it while recording, though.

  • ahhahaah you should do a video in the best buy in leominster

  • ...about me purchasing a 2TB external hard drive. :) The only reason that video was shot, was because of the elevators. Recording rides is a weird nerd-type thing that booming in popularity.

  • ohhhhhhh i see, hahaha yeah it doesn't seem very interesting. it's not like a rollercoaster or anything haha

  • Yeah. The "normals" couldn't care any less, but a lot of people like them, and as they see vids, more do it. I just did all (?) of them in Leominster Hospital today. I didn't ride one, and I think I missed some somewhere (only 2).

  • "The door closes when you push the button, I like that." You sounded just like dieselducy. :-)

  • Heh, heh. All I need is the little real-live train engine in my hand. That, and 5 years off my old age. :)

  • I can set you up with the train engine. I have the same model train engines, minus the neon paint!

  • No, thanks. I was just being silly. It's Dieselducy's trademark, and I don't want to infringe upon that (the train in the hand).

  • I was kidding too. :-)

  • A caboose would just be horribly wrong....

  • ElevatorsOnly filmed these a couple times.

  • I've seen them, but couldn't figure out the "death trap" part. There was a little noise here and there, and very slight vibration, travel and resonance. There probably was a problem with them when he rode them.

  • He calls everything a death trap even when it's not.

  • Got to remember, he's a small kid. When I was his age, every little elevator tick made me think they were death traps. I can relate.

  • NO!!!! ONLY when it feels death trap.

  • When I was little, a death trap was a death trap, even if it acted up in one direction. I notice nowadays that people only call them such in one direction, which really makes no sense. I reviewed the videos, yours and mine. They either are fixed, or the noises in your videos worked thmeselves out. There's some minor sounds, but that's about it.

  • Yes, twice.

  • They were good. I do aim the camera to the floor just to not get people on the video, and kept them out, except when the doors opened, and when we left. Funny how the camera makes it look I was about to run them over on exit, even though I had 3 feet between us. :)

  • That's good that they were understanding. Usually, when I'm filming alone, I turn the camera to the side to ease tensions when passengers enter. I always strive to film during non-peak hours but when I'm with another enthusiast it's a whole different story.

Nice elevators BTW. Some heavy duty neon lighting in the cab.
