  • I love my new Intel 510 ssd in my computer. My mac sometimes doesn't even use the windmill thing on start up. It just goes straight from the Apple to the log on screen. Everything on the computer is lightning fast. An ssd is the best investment you can make in upgrading a computer across the board.

  • fuck you

  • id take the 500 bucks for something fancy like going out and fancy dinner than gaining 6 seconds

  • FUCK U THIS IS STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • name of song??

  • @devilpizza123

Don't you mean 'name of song please'

  • Well since there are no moving parts, you're gonna save batteries as well.

  • the second song sounds like animusic!!!

  • Was there a problem with this MacBook at the time of the boot up? Because, that's about the time or less that my Dad's MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 duo takes to boot up.

  • who the hell cares about 6 seconds?

  • not much difference.i think its not worth the money (ssd), maybe one of the reasons that its better is that that you can fool around throwing with the laptop, and it wont destroy the hdd O.o

  • The reason why ssd isn't that much faster is because the hdd doesn't have a lot of crap in it yet, giving the hdd an advantage it wouldn't normally have. A hdd will get slower read times the more you fill it up, a ssd will not.

  • You just contradicted yourself, lol.

"The hdd gets an advantage because of not having been filled up with crap, while SSD's aren't affected by it" lols

  • the hdd doesn't have a disadvantage it would normally have. Happy?

  • he's right NoneImparticular.

    He didn't contradict himself.

HDD just has better advantage because it is 'clean installed'.

If it was not, like 80GB filled, then SSD will be way faster.

  • Is SATA II (3gb/s) faster than SSD???

  • @lighangel

a normal ssd is connected with sata 2 , so the q. makes no sence.

  • the ssd use sata II

  • sata is a speed and a format computers are starting to use. ssd (solid state drive) is a hard drive that has no moving parts which allows to have less space and faster than a hard drive.

  • This is a slight misconception. the SATA port is a TYPE of port that BOTH drives plug into. the 3GB/second is the maximum capacity of data that the port can move at once. However, what slows down the system is not the port, but the Hard drive. Hard drives, at first, are almost as good as SSD's- just slightly slower, but as you fill them up, they become much slower. The ssd will still boot in 30 seconds, that HDD when its more than 50% full will take up to an entire minute.

  • yes.

  • The OS has to be optimized for SSD technology for the real advantages to come forth, Apple hasnt fully implemented this yet.

  • 6 seconds difference? I wont buy an SSD for that....

  • @SOSFreezer The difference is larger in actual workload. Watch this:

    watch?v=T_Jz7IMwBt4

  • What's the first clasical music please ??

    It's importante...

  • I think u suck safewaysecurity! I hope u get lots of viruses with ur damn fucking pc! Macs are great and very useful!

  • Not impressive.

  • this vid is retarded! why not talk?

  • Hey. Is the 7200 rpm drive any noysier than the 5400 rpm drive ?

  • Naturally, yes.

  • Clean install...without updates? My parent's hackintosh with much LESS power is faster.

  • would be much more interesting with splitscreen

  • i dont get why it's so slow. i have a may 2007 macbook 2.16 core 2 duo, 4gb 667mhz ram and a 320gb 7200rpm hdd. i get boot times between 23 and 26 seconds. i just cant wait to see how it does with snow leopard. 50-90% speed increases all around.

  • what is the music ?

  • i was expecting the ssd boot to be faster. the initial blue screen time seems much too long, as if there is a delay in recognising the ssd drive. can anyone shed light on this?

  • The thing about Moore's law...Its awesome.

by 2011 i bet these will be near price parity with HD's.

  • That's exactly what you said on that other video.

  • i was expecting it to be 100% faster, not 15% faster...

but then again, if you buy a macbook pro, you probably have money readily available to throw into the furnace.

  • probably due to the rest of the hardware being shit...

  • but dude, i aint wasting $400 just for 15% faster speed. Intel can suck my dick for the money

  • what is this music please?

  • Hey, nice video. May I ask what is the beautiful music in the first part?

  • 500 bucks for six seconds?

  • Think about that multiplied over your entire day. That's just boot time. How about launching Adobe or Microsoft Office applications? What if you could leave work 1 or 2 hours early every day for $500?

We agree, it's not really cost-effective, mostly because of the disk space limitation, but the time will come when SSD is the standard and we'll wonder how we ever lived before it.

  • i understand! your totally right i forget people work with computers for a career and people could get much more work done! so i believe it for a good reason!thanks

  • Leaving work 1-2 hours early? That's kind of an exaggeration. How well does that think work with intense video encoding apps?

  • Ya all we need know is space but it will not be long before the 1 TB drives are out.

But I think some other form of storage will come along. like slower than the ssd or hdd but for one drive its 500 TB.

  • Compare that with the Gigabyte I-Ram windows XP boot speeds and this looks quite pathetic.

  • It's not just the 6 secs faster boot, it's also 50% more battery life :)
