Slaid was born in Washington DC, raised in Maine ad went to Tufts University. Doesn't matter where he calls home..he is one good siner/song writer. Saw him in NYC at the "Bottom Line" more than 10 yrs ago. Great show at a great place for shows. Too bad the owner didn't like to pay his taxes.
@MisterMoto67 "Too bad the owner didn't like to pay his taxes." Who likes to be stolen from? Sounds like a real stand up person. We should all aspire to be that brave.
I never heard of this guy before.. ever.. Im going to see him 6.25.11 in a little backwoods town in Huffs Church PA. Only thing in the town is the old church the graveyard and this antique store that doubles as a B&B for his show.
I just f'ing love this song. I've said it before, but this real life in song. How good this is - I wish I woulda written this. GREATNESS. IMHO. lovely and sad and true and oh so so so real . . .
I play/ sing this at my local music session - goes down very well. So do my other Cleaves numbers. The guy is an underrrated genius. Thanks for posting
I've been listenting to it for years actuallly, first heard it on the college radio station in San Antonio then saw him in Helotes at Flores Country Store, played it often on Internet Jukeboxes, now I have FINALLY got a new personal computer after 5 years, and hear it in real time and now have to search aimlessly on jukeboxes or spend a small fortune, thank you sooooo much bowiefan441970
He's one of those rare modern singer/songwriters who manages to keep country alive... <3
