i laff at your policy on the aspect ratio method.....

Should REALLY understand what aspect ratio is and learn WHY what you are doing is so terrible and I HATE to see it in videos.

I'd rather see a black bar in order o trick youtube into letting you post an HD video than stretching an image out to remove the black bar.

Pro tip:

Cut the tops and bottoms of your videos to get 16:9 effect OR record in a 16:9

NEVER EVER EVER stretch a video to spoof it!

When I edit an HD vid, it doesn't have the black bars at all. The video is all stretched out. If I play it through Windows Media player its fine...the whole video plays just as it was recorded from my TV but if I play it through Vegas only part of the video is displayed. I changed all the options that you have. What is wrong?

@Mastagamer21 NVM. I figured it out. Seems Sony Vegas 10 doesn't like .mp4 files. I had to convert it to .ts files and now they show the full video

This sucks i cant even edit my clips because vegas skips alot so i cant even watch it without lag. does anybody know how to fix it?

@PeeFiveXFilms lol select the bit you want to preview (using the yellow arrow things on top of all the tracks) then press "Shift+B" this ram previews it and it runs at full speed. Also to make that even faster set the preview window to "half" or "quarter" (this doesn't decrease the quality of the final video it just lowers the quality while editing) hope this helps :)

@PeeFiveXFilms I tried the "render preview" feature that has already been suggested a while back and have known about setting the preview quality to half or quarter for a while now. Still, neither of these works for me. Then I realized that it was the fact that my footage is in HD. I need a better computer.

@PeeFiveXFilms If you are using a flash video or mp4, (flv or m4v) it seems to have major issues with decoding those.

Best to always record in uncompressed format.

Bad news is you end up with 1gig file per a min of recording, good news is nothing goes wrong!

after effects tend to crash if you don't save ur files ;-) and vegas is better for overlays, transitions (masking is easier) and color corrections, though after effects is better for the effects that's why its called AFTER effects, to do some effects AFTER you created your base video

When i try to import my clips to vegas it gets epic lag spikes and takes a long time to get them in (They are about 3.9gigs each) Is this lag spikes normal? Is there a way to fix it? TY

@toyox87 Your files are to big. You need to compress them into a smaller file. Use a program like Virtual Dub, there are tutorials on youtube.

Media Generators > Default Text

Insert Video Track > Drag Default Text onto video track

Change text to what you want > Placement Tab

Move to bottom right corner( or whatever corner ) > Drag text clip to match your video clip.

@soundman237 you have to right click and add a new video track. then on the new video track you right click again and the go to add text media and then type in whatever you want. then press ok and make it the same length as your video. =)

ahhh guys make sure when stretching the video out by playing around with the aspect ratio that you don't screw up your screen, as you can end up with like short fat guys and guns on your screen (thats if you record on a square tv) i reckon it looks horrible personally.
