This is why people are always not wanting to try new things, negative criticism, people should try and be helpful not hurtful. Like when people tell me I suck, or I can't drum very good. Well what do people expect me to pick up the sticks and be like HELL YEAH and just be pro at them, NO everyone starts from somewhere quit knocking people and give them advice share you talent so that other people can have talents of their own, it would make the world a much better place.
@produccionesmiranejo There is actually a right "way" to hold the sticks so that you won't hurt your hands on the long run and maximize the strenght of your hits but hey...
Sure they can! I mean, you can do loads of things with or without them , and you can get creative however you want, but practicing rudiments just at different speeds and on different drums can make you stumble upon some awesome grooves! They are DEFINITELY not the only way, but knowing rudiments is pointless unless you apply them! Rather than basing your creativity upon rudiments, you can get creative WITH rudiments!
solid groove. just work on your endurance at those tempos. they can be tricky, but you're really good at working with fast tempos. keep up the good job
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
fuck jessman, rudiments and grooves can be practiced on a huge kit just the same, taking gear away will only hold you back, the more you have to play with the more creative your music will be, theres a reason guys with tiny kits sound the same all they do are snare rolls for 20 minutes. hail richard christy
Yeah he would!!!! No, look at the man. He does exactly what yngwie says, plays 20min snare rolls. Even though so many people hail him and sees him as the greatest drummer alive. I find him sooooo boring!
The bigger kit, the more possibilites that is logic. And that more interesting than a guy pounding his snare, almost alone, for 10-20mins, most of the time :)
@Frede0507: Either you are not a drummer, or you're an idiot. It doesn't matter what size of a kit you have. Give me terry Bozzio's kit and i wouldn't know what the hell to do with it, but give terry my kit and he'll totally lay down a kick-ass groove. It's like saying "The more pedals or more features you apply to your guitar, the better a guitarrist you'll be. Get real, man.
I don't know about that. When you have less drums it forces you to be more inventive with your patterns and rythmns to keep it feeling fresh. The whole, "you don't have 1 million drums so you won't sound original," is just a cop out for uninspired drummers.
@Yngwie2112Matarrese Dude, I took everything off my drumset but my snare, hats, and bass, and I probably learned more than I would have in six months of playing my whole kit. It forces you to get creative with your rudiments.
Wow, I loved that comment untill you said rudiments...sure rudiments force you to improve coordination, skill, etc, but should not be a basis for creativity...jeeezz.....
look, anyone can buy a bunch of cymbals, pedals, and all the little cool sounding things that guitar center has to offer and think they will ROCK! break your kit down to just a kick, snare, and hat and work on groove. speed and chops don't mean crap. slow it down man. GADD it up a bit.
i could never hold parradiddles down like that... ever. i kick ass on a kit, but i cant hold down that shit.. especially transitioning between cymbals and toms, and a snare like thast.
It's kinda like that guy that all the drum clinic guys talk about that have chops but totally forgot about feel and musicality. But hey, it is what it is
Excellent. If you want my opinon like i like getting opinions you will take this as "constructive critisim" The only think i noticed that were poor were you dynamics need work, since your kit sounds poor on this audion its easy to pick up that your strokes can get more even too. Try reducing the tempo and get it to "groove" I'm not "drum god" by any imagination, and i dont mind constructive critisism
BRO, I agree to everyone who has commented about your speed drumming! If you slow down it might in fact sound alot better!!!!!! Your timing is slack and I don't feel anything from your way of playing. I have been playing for 20 years but I could never play like this, SORRY BRO!!!!!
Maybe slow it down a bit dude, you could bring out a real nice groove with a slower tempo and a few more accents. Perhaps don't feel you need to use the whole kit just because that many options are available.
quite sloppy, no offence to your playing but the solo just sounds so lifeless and has no feel, its just fast.. you could play half as fast and it would probably sound better!
your a good drummer just think; less is quite often more!
impressive no doubt, you got to appreciate how much practise it takes to get to here. my paradiddles suck, but i'm just starting out. nice set up as well.

he said that the way you hold the sticks is wrong, but that is bullshit. In music, there is no right or wrong, just what you want to hear.

Good work! I have a question about paradiddles that no one has cleared up, is it all single strokes or are you bouncing the stick at all?
ValentineQ14 1 year ago
@ValentineQ14
Some ppl use bounce for the double in paradiddles,I use a wrist stroke and finger stroke in mine.
