you're right nyg8690kid. I was thinking the same thing about her just singing the song in a lower register. She did for a minute, but then she went back to the pitchy high voice. Like everyone one said she had been touring, plus opening for him and she was probably nervous too. I'm sticking to my statement about the brush off.

I can't say on the brush off its hard to decide. But what stands out to me is I think she lost her high tone of voice for that night remember she tours heavily and this was right before the grammy that she won. My thing is why didn't she sing in a lower register?

He loves and admires Esperanza. He would never perform with someone if he didn't like them as an artist. I think she was nervous and he wanted her to stand strong because he believes in her. I LOVE PRINCE!!!!!♥

I'll be damn! I've been looking high and low for this video. I was just discussing this now I see what they are talking about! Why did he have to brush Esperanza's hand off when he touched his shoulder? It was just innocent flirting. I bet if that had been Misty or some other off brand heffa, he would've have done that. Don't get me wrong, I love Prince as much as the next fan/fanatic, but that was a turnoff.

@Bonitaymorena Oh yeah... forgot about that "tribute". It was so forgettable. I guess her scratchy and patchy vocals really threw me off in this video. She ain't sounding good here. Hey.. check out 0:40 where P not only moves backwards from her, but takes her hand off of him too. And did I hear somebody crackin' up at it in the background?? He didn't have to do that.. old teeny-tiny, stacked pumps, eyeliner wearing, doll baby man.

@SoulPowerful how was her tribute forgettable?? She sounded amazing. Watch any of her live performances on youtube and she sounds great that why Prince wanted her to come. Maybe she got nervous and forgot the words or she was loosing her voice. But her voice is very strong!!!
