  • The greatest senator ever!

  • Barbaric! As im watching the Eagles and Giants game

  • "WHITE NIGGERS."

  • Ironic that he died 3 years later on the same date (June 28) of delivering this speech about his health... RIP!

  • I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds. -R. Byrd

  • So thankful that he is finally dead. The Republic is better off.

  • @sig0 You are scum. You have no idea what America is about.

  • @mhirtes12 I'm pretty sure I know what its not about. Its not about shamelessly spending a billion dollars of other peoples money building shrines to one's self, or leading groups that call black folks niggers, or selfishly refusing to give up the power and privilege of a US Senator for half a century. No, the Republic is far better for the death of this crook. It could not have come soon enough.

  • Rest in Peace Brother.

  • the words on hes pages are so big lmao

  • He died three years to the day after he said he will be around for a while (5:40). :'(

  • RIP byrd.... he always makes me laugh

  • look how quickly he moves through those pages...how large is that print....he killed a lot of trees too!

  • rest in peace old friend

  • 3 years exactly to the day he dies. =O

But we gotta admit, he was getting old for current politics and did a lot for the country, but he was sleeping and shaking and stuff. If he was an advisor that'd be great,..

  • Not Anymore :(

  • This guy is hilarious. He's the Floyd Lawson of the US Seante.

  • are there 5 words on each page or something? haha.

  • @mcarroll36 He used font size 40 from Word Perfect 12, THATS A FACT!

  • this guy is more eloquent than a lot of college kids

  • This guy has been a senator since 1959! Byrd joined the Ku Klux Klan when he was 24 in 1942. His local chapter unanimously elected him Exalted Cyclops. Byrd joined with other Southern and border state Democrats to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964, personally filibustering the bill for 14 hours. He also opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

  • @bkbenjy He said he was sorry for his bad acts like being in the KKK and so on. Strom Thurmond wasn't sorry and he died by not saying sorry. We will miss Robert Byrd soon.

  • i voted for him

  • this clown should get out of the way of progress!

  • Robert Byrd is so my hero. <3.

  • Growing older? No. At his age, he's actually shrinking.

  • I don't know how that guy next to him isn't dying laughing.

  • That guy next to him is a demon feeding him words and demons dont laugh.

  • Your potty mouth reflects your stupidity.

  • Robert Byrd is as sharp as anybody that's even had the honour of entering the Senate. Irrespective of his physical condition these days, and the fact his attendance on the floor of the Senate is less and less, he still remains an institution himself. I've never seen anybody strive to uphold the Constitution the way he has over the years.

    An absolute hero.

  • @ColtonMP Robert Bird - A life of Deceit and Corruption !

West Virginia population 1,953,060 more than half of the population never finished the third grade, Blind Followers - how pathetic -

  • @mstaff657 Who is Robert Bird?

  • @Joelduffy you dont need to know now he is dead

  • @fedorvonbock16 I don't think you got the joke..

  • @ColtonMP lol.

  • he is angry yet he remains cool . His talks tongue cheek . his talks are so true . In this age of Botox and Eternal youth .I celebrate with Byrd his age. Old age is a blessing not a curse . The capitol is for grey haired men that are experienced

  • How can that guy sitting there not at least crack a smile????

  • Comment removed

  • ha, hes probably used to this shit

  • ommgggg LOL GIANT FONT ON PAPERS FOR HIM CAUSE HE'S OOOLLLLDDD

  • Totally! The way he's ripping through those pages, you know he's reading LARGE LETTERS.

  • Saint Paul (and I make no comparisons other than sight) had to have large letters due to poor eyesight.. Nothing to laugh at and I pray you enjoy your good eyesight and it is not taken from you because you mock.

  • Really you are full off shit, this senator HAS to defend his age because of the media that accuses him of not earnign his government pay because of this fact. I actually believe this senator is genuinly involved in the issues of the american nation and cares about the problems and the future of this great nation.

I don't understand that some people (like you) just look at one movie (such as this) and feel the need to express their opinion in such

  • a black and white manner, neglecting all the other wonderful arguments and achievements this person may have brough upon.

    Terribly short sighted.

  • Didder, dadder, doo, dad, da, da,da...duh-duh-duh-muh-mammah-da,dah, duh-shikity shake,buh,blabb-BUH bah,duh,du-duh, duh-duh..Go kick a fucking bucket, already, ya rickety old bastard.

  • He is not senile. Any disability he has does not affect how well he does his job. There is no reason for him to retire. He has the balls to stand up where others do not (Iraq, Homeland Security, calling the Senate a bunch of pussies).

We need more of him, not less

  • i may die of laughter by the time the video progressses beyond the shocking discovery

  • byrd is an OG

  • lol robert bryd is freakin shaking the whole time!!!!! dude.....that guy needs to retire from the senate cuz he's wayyyyy toooo old.......he should retire his senate seat to someone else.....

  • Robert Byrd should uses contact lenses, so he could make his speeches on a single paper :)

But i dont know if he will be able to remove the lenses without taking out his eyes from his eyes-soucket

  • This speech takes guts, knowing that you're suffering from parkinson's and that you'll be fodder for your critics. Byrd's a tough old bird and took the bastards head on.

    God bless that man!

  • byrd is the man

  • I agree...Byrd is the word!

    Love this guy!

  • My gradma wasn't too old to live by herself. The only problems she had was remembering to feed herself and go to the bathroom before she smelled that she already had. this guy should of had the good sense to go out with some dignity. Instead he's stayed on so long he was senile before he thought about retiring. Dude is too old to even speak on the behalf of AARP not to mention being a voice in the US Senate. He's become a distraction to himself and has people that laugh every time he speaks.

  • 1:06--The font size on his papers is ridiculous!!

  • hahahaha!!!! yeah too true man, too true!

  • Robert Byrd is The Seneca of our times.

  • This guy's a comedian?

  • goddammit just keel over already!

  • Physically, he looks like he's barely able to stand. But his mind is sharp as ever, obvious by his sarcasm. AND he has one of the best attendance and voting records! Better than McCain, Obama and Clinton.

Besides, VA loves him and will probably still vote him in even if he had to be wheeled in.

  • He is from WV!

  • Nothing would be better ( or, confusing ) than a Jeopardy Episode with Ozzy Osbourne, Keith Richards, Scooby-Doo and Robert Byrd.

  • LOL!

  • He was being sarcastic when he said, "shocking discovery," right? Please tell me he was being sarcastic. His scraggly old hanging skin muffled the emphasis.

  • lol dude the words on those papers must be huge

  • You can see how huge at 6:07! Good Lord!

  • Robert C Byrd is the man !

  • the increasing distance between the day of my birth and the current date ...lolllol i mean head ooooon

  • WOOO BYRD RULES

  • shut up u old fool

  • I give that guy standing next to him a TON of credit...i would have been cracking up during this speech...

  • I wish Robert Byrd was my Senator. No man has delivered more earmarks and government jobs for his state; I doubt anyone has ever even come close.

  • Get over it! B. Bird is not a racist. He's done more for minority rights than all senators put together. Of course he was racist long time ago, who wasn't then?

  • My question is .. How did the guy next to him actually keep a straight face during the Senator's bantering? OH MY GOD.

  • i was just abt to type exactly those words wow

  • Lol ya he's got this look on his face like, dude you need to go sit in a damn will chair.

  • wheel*

  • Holy shit. Thats a big ass font, at least 50 — looks like 10 lines a page. ROFL. I can't believe he's still alive.

  • this man's age is his weapon, dipshit. so what if he's old, his decisions are based on roots that go deep into the constitution, his mind is sharp enough to slice your thoughtless words into ribbons. Why do we attack those who are older than us, those who have much more wisdom than us? What makes our culture hate the elders? We should learn from them, not laugh at how their bodies mismatch their minds. The truth of the matter is that he is wise, and we've been lacking wisdom nowadays. fuck off.

  • You know what, age or no age.

When I found out that this old son of a bitch used to be a member off the Klu Klux Klan, and that he intentionally attempted to block passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Bill, I lost all respect that I ever could of had for him, old or not.

That was very shallow, and impertinent of him to do that.

  • "I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."

  • Didn't he made that statement right before he went on national television and presumed to make repetitive racist comments which were unneeded.

People will say whatever they can to paint themselves in a better light when they know they've fucked up. It's all for ego.

  • I'm not suppose to laugh, but that was the FUNNIEST comment ever. LOL

  • look at the text size at least 36

  • He's in his ninth term in the senate

  • If Byrd ran for President, he'd be 100 at the end of a 1st term alone. That'd be something

  • This guy is the best though

  • Screw u fuelman524! Robert Byrd is living history in America! He has been in the senate since the Eisenhower days. Show some repect u fucking fag!

  • Dont fuck with Robert Byrd! Hes a god.

  • Did you see this guy's speech on the night that goddamn Bush administration invaded Iraq? He is a hero! I understand why his people reelected him!

  • That has got to be the saddest thing I've ever heard. We humans really are fucking pathetic, to put someone of that age through this bullshit. The only fight I ever got in my life was when I watched a young man push an old man out of a doorway..and I beat his fucking ass to a pulp.

  • This was a year ago.

What's sad isn't that a man of the age of Mr. Byrd is suffering from the problems of becoming elder; they are natuaral progressions of life. What is sad is that this man holds one of Washington's most powerful positions; the head of the Senate Appropriations Committe. The democratic party has a responsibility to the American people to remove him in lieu of someone who is better suited, to be frank.

  • Well that is a good point. When I say "to put him through this". It's like taking a driver's license away from an elderly person. No one wants to do it. I absolutely believe we should give him the retirement he deserves.

My anger is to those mindless little fuckheads on here making fun of him. And I'm 28 don't talk shit. Just because you're young doesn't mean you have to be a complete fucking asswipe.

    But yeah VoteGingrich, I agree.

  • rofl

  • Byrd is easily the longest serving Senator in American history (50 years on January 3, 2009), but he is 2nd all time in total congressional longevity. That belongs to Carl Hayden, who spent 56 years and 319 days in Congress (Representative 1912-1927; Senator 1927-1969).

  • not anymore :D

  • True. I made that statement a long time ago; had to dig for it. We'll see if he gets to Strom Thurmond's age in Congress(100).

  • My dear poor ol' Senator...

  • Is he so vain that he can't wear glasses? Notice that there's about 19 words per page.

  • Way to go West Virginia

  • ladies and gentleman...why the US is in the condition its in.

  • um no - the Bush administration is why the US is in the condition it is in. If they would have listened to Senator Byrd thousands of lives wouldn't have been lost and the economy would not be in the state it is in.

  • HEAD ON... HEAD ON... I would like to see him to one of those ads. HEAD ON APPLY DIRECTLY TO THE FOREHEAD TO RELIEVE BARBARIC..... BARBARIC... PAIN.

  • this clown wasstes so much tax time in the senate babbling about non issues from age to dog fighting. What a joke! What does it cost per minute to keep the senate open for such useless SHIT!

  • nothing

  • What a waste of the Senate's time.

Is he wearing rings on his left hand?

  • he doesent even write. That guy beside him writes what he is supposed to say. I wonder what it would really say if he wrote it. What a joke!

  • This is an AWESOME speech. I'm going to save it and listen to it as I find myself becoming older. 35 now...a little ways to go, yet.

  • oh damnit! i yield the rest of my time to a senator from any other state. i just shit myself again!

  • Dude all the pages because he couldn't see unless the letters were fucking big!

  • haha..i thought i was the only one who noticed.. he reads a sentence and flips the page... HUGE writing

  • Damn it. The video is gone!

  • what's that old man ranting about?

"all these young people with their internets and dyed hair! why those whippersnappers..."

  • how many words are on each piiece of paper? 5? LOL

  • true

  • Though I'm not from America, I respect this man. He's not like the other so-called senators.

I hope, he experiences the election of Barack Obama :)

  • "He's not like the other so-called senators." - He's not different because he was the first one or because he went to high school with Charlemagne?

  • I assume his eyes are going also judging from the number of sheets of paper he cycles through. I wonder if he ever thought that somebody else might want to server their country as a congressman.

  • Robert Byrd for President

  • I think Robert Byrd should run for president in 2012, he would be an excellent president and I think he would win.

  • @quest8899 He isn't going to live much longer now. He got a lot older in 3 years and he looks like 3 years older then he is.

  • @v19d DUDE!!!! I blame you for him dying!!

  • @XanderTheMander Hey Dude he was very ill. He had a form of parkinsons disease that caused his hands to shake. By the way CNN was already believe he was going to die from the serious illiness that finally brought him down was a mixture of extreme heat and severe dehydration. If he had lived long enough like till after 2012 then he would had lost re-election because 1 His health would had come into question 2. He had served too long. 3. He voted for Obama related legislation.

  • @XanderTheMander Alan Mollahan lost in the 2010 primary in West Virginia because he voted for Obama related legislation. Don't blame me for him dying illness caused to die. You sound like a person that didn't watch news about him in the hospital last night before he died. They said Robert Byrd will leave a legacy. They also said they found other then extreme heat exhaustion that led to his severe illness on the side of his parkinsons then you could of gotten a clue he was going to die.

  • @quest8899 to bad he would have been 96 lmfao

  • @quest8899 He would not have made a good president! He didn't really do anything for this state. Imagine what he would have done for the country if he can't even manage a tiny state with less than 2 million people.

  • @quest8899 now hes dead

  • that man defends the Constitution til the End. He is doing his job. He speaks out, and carrys the constitution. he has voted on 18,000 votes. the guy is as sharp as a tack. Watch some of his speaches...he is a great!

  • Longest filibuster: Strom Thurmond.

"Segregation now, segregation forever": George Wallace.

    Get your facts straight.

  • correction: "segregation today, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" - george wallace

  • C'mon give the guy a break. It's been what 40 years since then. We've come a long way since then, people mature.

  • Does he change pages that often because he has to write really big or something?

  • you are an idiot for asking that question

  • Also, imo... if he actually wrote that speech himself, every word from his head... then he sounds capable of doing his job.

But if he had one of his advisors or writers take care of it... then fire him.

  • I second that.

  • Aren't they supposed to use our time/tax dollars better?

  • You can fuss and ridicule the old senator Byrd. But he still gets e l e c t e d! And goes to work. West Viriginians must know something that others choose to ignore; the value of integrity and honesty over youth and good looks.

I do accept Mr. Byrd apology for the elderly, humbly.

  • Looks like a filibuster in action. If you look on the bottom bar it says "Immigration bill blocked on procedural vote in senate; supporters lack votes to shut off debate". In the senate, but not the house, you can debate on a bill for as long as you want, talking about whatever you want, even if it is absolutely irrelevant. Defending his age, reading out of the phone book, the bible, whatever, as long as the senate doesn't get the two-thirds vote for cloture to force the end of debate and vote.

  • "The shocking discovery that I am growing older."

"I have grown accustomed to the increasing distance between the year of my birth and the current date."

    Wow, he pwned them!

  • This guy looks like a used condom. What a waste of life. I guarantee this guy would have been a slave owner if he had the opportunity. People like this are why nothing gets done in this country.

  • I agree Byrd is the man.

  • he may not be able to run the marathon but in his head he's sharp as a tack. i've met both him and president Clinton and i must say i was more honored to meet the senator.

  • Long Live senator byrd

  • There are a lot of sentences actually. They are just in really big type.

  • ...to address Head On!...I mean...HEAD ON!!!!

    Hilarious

  • This is really inspiring. It speaks for all the elderly people out there who cannot speak coherently, or are cast aside by the i'm-in-a-rush younger generation of today, or are looked down upon as objects to be pitied and humored. They were titans in their days of glory. Give them some respect.

  • I thought the role of congress was to make laws. What in god's name is he talking about?

  • I found this inspiring.

  • give him some prune juice and send him to bed

  • To those who oppose the Byrd, you simpletons should be ashamed of yourself. Please do this country a favor and move to France where you retire at age, 19. This man is one of the only great American's that encompasses a true American work ethic and passion for what he does, and you have the audacity to insult him. How dare you insult a man that could eradicate your family genes. Recognize what he does every day to serve his country, while you are at home or in your cube surfing the internet.

  • Make him president.

  • crazy people don't know they're crazy. senile people don't know they're senile. Get him out of the senate before he dies in it. give this guy a vacation, we do NOT need him or his opinions anymore, he is DONE in the senate.

  • he has like 4 words written on every page

  • This RAMBLING FOOL indicates what FOOLS populate West Virginia!!!

  • head on, HEAD ON. i mean head on.

  • one reason he should get out of office: the paper he is wasting to print speeches in 70 point font lololololol amirite?

  • lol he may be 90 years old but his mind is sharp as a tack

  • shocking?? haha

  • King of pork and wasteful spending. The country will be a better place when he is out of office.

  • yeeow, i agree with you. Every letter I have written to him, he has returned with a call or a letter. Most other senators have automated letters or a secretary make them up. Give it up for the oldest living senator in history.

  • im going to hell roflmao

  • The font is HUGE!!!! lol!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha this guys funny!

  • those who hope he is defeated in 2012 need to get a life. WV loves this guy. The only thing keeping him from being re-elected is if he dies.

  • im more worried that he might drive a vehicle than if hes still in office.
