Ugh, people can't take 5 minutes to look up what Brotherhood is and immediately start bashing it for not being like the original anime, or not watching past the first 10 or so episodes. Brotherhood is like the manga, from start to end, not counting this filler intro episode. The first FMA anime starts off like the manga, but changes its story so they took out some characters from Brotherhood and added some of their own.

Can someone please explain to me what brotherhood is. Is it a sequel, a spin off or what if someone could explain this to me it would be greatly appreciated

@gr8leech FMA: Brotherhood is completely based off the manga.The first FMA anime started off like the manga, but after a few episodes it decided to change its story completely from the manga's.Essentially, they have most of the same characters, but there are some characters that are ONLY in Brotherhood. Brotherhood may look like the first anime, which is why most people stop watching it, but after the first 10-13 episodes it starts becoming different from the first anime like the manga

This, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, follows the storyline of the manga. Many consider it to have a better plotline because of this.

The anime, Fullmetal Alchemist, starts out the same but soon goes off into it's own plotline. It goes more in-depth into Ed and Al's earlier days, and has a few episodes of when Ed was twelve and became a State Alchemist.

They couldn't get the original Al voice actor because his voice had gone through puberty. This Al's voice isn't that bad, its great! And the difference is that brotherhood follows the manga closely, while the original anime came out before the manga was even finished, so the story is totally different.

@Yesiwtfu The original FMA started at the same time as the mangas, and because the mangas were coming out slower than the series, FMA went off on their own storyline. FMA:B came out after the mangas were all out, and so this storyline follows the mangas exactly. This isn't a continuation of FMA, it's another VERSION of it.

Dont judge the new Al's voice. This is the first episode and the actors who are new aren't quite adjusted to their characters yet. Maxey Whitehead grows into alphonse and by episode 5 you can't tell the difference between the old and new.

@whatifmyworldstoped No, the first anime that was made did not follow the original manga plotline. Brotherhood is the manga in animated form. Some episodes will be somewhat similiar but everything becomes 100% different at the end of episode 14.

I love this series, although in FMAB, is that series two different worlds because Ed is in a world where you can't use Alchemey and Al is in the world where you CAN use Alchemey... I'm so confused. I'm even more confused because I watched the FMA movie before the ebd of the first series!!!
