KISS misses the sloppiness and creativity that Ace brought to the band. And honestly he was the best musician in the band hence Gene's eventual animosity towards him.
Why don't they actually play Mr. Speed in concert. I have been to more than a handfull of KISS shows over the years & they have never played it. Also I read a comment about them saying that they play the same 11 or 12 songs for their entire career. Just for kicks wouldn't it be nice for them to go out & play songs they don't normally play live. Just saying. They usually play almost all of the debut at every show. Not that I don't like the songs, but mix it up a bit.

If you counted the # of Ace written/co-written songs, you'd have about 10 or so from the original lineup. So that means 90% of the songs you love from the originals are Gene/Paul written. I think you can look too much in to this video, I think they were actually having a good time, and were probably surprised to see Ace so switched on. You can certainly tell Eric Singer enjoyed it, and this line up was the best KISS line up ever put together. KISS would be a much bigger band with Ace still in it ... he has a cult following ... and Ace would be better for it if he was still in KISS and would cut the crap out. Paul and Gene know this, and it is why Tommy is an Ace clone.

Paul and Gene are not as close as they make out - they're business partners. They did enough damage of their own to the original band. As did Ace and Peter. Its a wonder the original band survived until 1980. Funny watching!

Good for Ace to go out swinging! He hardly got to play any of his songs live. Gene's such a dick. Ace was so pissed when Gene said that stuff about the Ace Frehyley band. His face is classic. I feel bad for Paul when those situations happen, though. He's the frontman and has to keep the show going smoothly. It looked like Gene and Ace could've started fighting any second during that show. It's tough to handle drunks and addicts, even one as talented as Ace. Paul handled things well.

He's never been one to learn the new songs either; I can't recall a single tour since "Lick It Up" where they played more than 2-3 songs live from the album they were supporting. I think you can look too much in to this video, I think they were actually having a good time, and were probably surprised to see Ace so switched on. You can certainly tell Eric Singer enjoyed it, and this line up was the best KISS line up ever put together. KISS would be a much bigger band with Ace still in it ... he has a cult following ... and Ace would be better for it if he was still in KISS and would cut the crap out. Paul and Gene know this, and it is why Tommy is an Ace clone.

@stevenlennon12 Yeah, probably. Gene certainly triggered Ace's ire. Having just read Into the Void with Ace Frehley by Wendy Moore, I believe the tension was high between them all. Paul and Gene are not as close as they make out - they're business partners. They did enough damage of their own to the original band. As did Ace and Peter. Its a wonder the original band survived until 1980. Funny watching!

Good for Ace to go out swinging! He hardly got to play any of his songs live. Gene's such a dick. Ace was so pissed when Gene said that stuff about the Ace Frehyley band. His face is classic. I feel bad for Paul when those situations happen, though. He's the frontman and has to keep the show going smoothly. It looked like Gene and Ace could've started fighting any second during that show. It's tough to handle drunks and addicts, even one as talented as Ace. Paul handled things well.

He's never been one to learn the new songs either; I can't recall a single tour since "Lick It Up" where they played more than 2-3 songs live from the album they were supporting. Paul, Bruce, Ace and Peter's solo tours, OTOH, always showcased obscure KISS songs.
