If you want to hear people who have talent, come on my channel and my site. I have talent in the sense that it is not common. Though it is not common, people like myself will never get a record deal in todays world. Being uncommon is not popular.
I use to think the same way about media coverage, but you know what? I feel very special to be part of "under a million " views, it's like we share this secret of music that goes underground where we have been pulled into not by the herd but by our hearts, and I think that's the kind of following somebody who puts their soul in music the way Rachael does deserves, sincere and unbiased.
@jupiterflunk92 Where do you get that from..? She loves her boyfriend and he pretends to love her but underneath they both know that he's in love with another girl. She's always comparing herself to this girl and doing everything she can, but it's never going to be enough because she's never going to be this girl he loves.
This song is a chameleon. I have heard at least four different version. It is on a soundtrack disc I imported in my Itunes and sounds completly different from this version. Regardless, each versions are amazing. I am glad that we have Rachael Yamagata and I especially like this song.
Since we're on the topic of Gaga and Perry, my opinion is that Rachael is primarily talented and all her songs are prime examples. Gaga and Perry on the other hand, seems to have the need to show more skin to get the media attention they need.
LADY GAGA AND KATY PERRY ARE TWO WAY DIFFERENT ATISTS, KATY PERRY DOWN RIGHT SUX....SHE IS A LITTLE TOO OLD TO BE SINGING THE SONGS SHE DOES, BUT HONESTLY, LADY GAGA HAS A GREAT FUCKIN VOICE AND IS BETTER ON PIANO THAN ALICIA KEYES FOR SURE...ARTISTICALLY SPEAKING GAGA IS WAY OUT THERE, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY SHE HAS MORE TALENT IN ONE FINGER THAN MOST OF THE ARITIST TODAY ALL ROLLED INTO ONE.....
I have a different album version, on mi Itunes that I love. I love this version as well. There used to be another version, live, with Rachel Yamagata standing in front of a Piano. It was very mellow, very gut grabbing, very powerful. Of course it has been removed now, but I guess no matter what the tempo or the interpretation is, I love this song.
"Worn me down like a road, worn me down to my knees, I did everything to please." This applies to so many situations in life. Rachael is simply BRILLIANT!
Episode 3, S2. The New Kids On The Block. The final scene with Seth and Marissa alone, I thought was one of the best shot endings, with this song made and the way it was shot it felt a lot like a Dawsons Creek Episode. Which is a really good thing, seein as Dawsons Creeks cinematography was awesome
@baf929 Heyy, now, let's not Gaga-and-Perry-bash. The fact that they managed to charm the public enough to get their coverage speaks to their talent with advertising, and both have musical talent in their own ways. While more recognition would certainly be nice for Rachael, she has loving fans either way and I think she knows that. So we're good. :)
I thought this song was about how she is worn out over fighting for this guy who loves another women, and all he can do is think and talk about the other girl.
@HaNnAhDEE123 That what is so ingenius about the song. It misleads you to believe she is tired of sharing her time with her man who is obssessed over a former love...until you realize, it is SHE, that is tired of thinking about the girl.
''she's soo pretty..she's sooo damn right, but i'm so tired ot thinkin about her again tonight''
she's meaning - that she can't stop thinkin about how perfect she is for him and how she's everything to him but she's soo completely tired of thinkin about her being with him and getting who she used to have.
I first heard this song from the OC and it was perfect for the scene. There's something quite sad about this song, not just the lyrics but the tone of it generally, but I still keep coming back to it, i love it!

While the basic idea which you mention in your prior post is that this one is a frustrated version, while others are sad (that beautiful slow piano version) or angry (the live loud guitar version). And yes, that Reason Why with "Stage flirtations" is worth the 8 minutes.
I met Rachael a few days ago, talked to her for over an hour, had my own "flirtation" with her. Got pictures with my arm around her(her suggestion). She actually knows who I am. We talked about music and life and stuff. She's everything her music suggests she is. On "Reason Why" at the 2nd show, she started talking about how they use her songs on "hospital" shows with people leaving and going up to heaven. Then she said they used that song for a doggie going to heaven, when she got to
the part about "Follow the tracks that I have left", she started laughing to herself while she was alone on stage. She said "Now all I can think about is paw tracks going up to heaven, bow-wow-wow". She finished the song(sort of) singing "Man's best friend, kibbles and bits, Man's best friend, kibbles and bits". Totally disarming personality. She finished her shows with the very painful, but beautiful "Sunday Afternoon".
I asked her why she didn't do songs like "Under My Skin" and "Letter Read"(very difficult songs to play). She told me the two musicians with her were new, and didn't know all of her music. I got pretty close to her, she's so beautiful inside and out. She let it be known that she's not with anyone. Whoever left her and hurt her, is the biggest fool on this planet. I'd take her in a heartbeat, but the age difference is too hard to overcome. Her version of "River" by Joni Mitchell turns a
If Alanis Morissette can sing about "transparent dangling carrots" then anything is possible. Having listened to an awful lot of Rachael's songs and performed a few, I think the song is about her boyfriend interested in another woman, and her frustration about it. Also watch the U-Tube Video of "Reason Why" where she completely loses it in a flirtation with..............a guy. She is the most smoothly sensuous singer/songwriter out there.
Elephants was released a short while ago. Well worth it! Really solidly built upon Happenstance, less (and i hate to use the word) 'pop' and more soulful.
She only played one new song, in her last show. She told me her next CD will be something wild and completely different. Right now she's moving from Philadelphia to Upstate New York, so I think it will be awhile.
Songs can mean anything similar and everything different to anyone that listens to them. (and that's okay!!) Perhaps, no one knows what any song really means if they aren't the one who penned it.
Has anyone considered this: Perhaps she isn't singing to her male lover, but to herself. Perhaps, it is she, that has had a love affair with another woman, and Rachel is trying to get the memories of this other woman--her lover--out of her head. Listen to the lyrics again, with this thought in mind.
Exactly! Most people don't even consider the fact that this song could be about her romance with a woman (talk about narrow-mindedness). Honestly, the very first time I heard this song I thought it was about exactly what you said. It didn't for a second occur to me that it was addressing a guy.
Although you bring up a valid point, the song wouldn't make sense if she was referring to herself in the "you can't stop thinking about her" because she would be messing up tenses between going back and forth between "you can't" and "Worn me" Not to mention in the one line she mentions "I" which supports the conclusion that she is not talking to herself. The song, could, however, be about a distant female lover involved with another woman. However, she isn't talking to herself.
You are entitled to believe whatever you want, but please don't consider us "narrow-minded" if we believe the song is about a man who is thinking about someone, as opposed to a woman thinking about someone else. The meaning is still the same, its about the perils of love and the emotions that go along with it. And if the majority of people identify with a male/female relationship, because they have never experienced a same sex relationship that should be ok to.
Worn Me Down is about a guy, however Under My Skin is subject to interpretation. I think, having met her that under my skin is also about a guy, that she turns down and the ""her" she refers to in the song, is herself. But whatever turns you on is OK with me.
@Piercetp Poverty? Are you serious? My city, Tijuana, is not poor. Let me tell you that this town is one of the most important cities of Mexico. You have a very WRONG idea about this city and the country. You've must come to this city before you comment about it.
I know this is going to sound crazy but, could you contact me in some way with Mandy? It`s just that I just love her since A walk to remember movie =), Perhaps it`s just the character, but sure I would love to meet her or at least to know a little bit about her, from herself. Crazy I know, but it`s not a sin to dream =)
Abut Rachael and this particular song and version, of course I like her and love this one, it was great tha I just discovered her music just few days ago.
I love this song, I just downloaded the CD, cause my mom showed me some of her old CD's I would maybe like and when I heard this song, I fell in love with it :D!

Also watch the U-Tube Video of "Reason Why" where she completely loses it in a flirtation with..............a guy. She is the most smoothly sensuous singer/songwriter out there.

Anyone have a date on any upcoming albums from her?

@burrrntUP

Great scenes of Mexico. I've been there several times. Its beautiful but the poverty of the place is heartbreaking.

May you?
