  • well... this brought me to The OC, and I like it :D

  • you know what, i am starting to get so fuckin pissed about these "O.C." comments. stop coming here to post stupid comments.

  • Loving Rachel on Ashtar Command's new song "Blister of the Spotlight" Mmm those vocals!

    itunes.apple. com/us/album/blister-spotlight-feat.-rachael/id470471138?i=470471175

  • I'd love to hear this song without the squeaky-clean, top 40 production.

  • I actually just discovered her this year. So glad I did.

  • the o.c. .... :'(

  • @Ssunlesah I miss The OC so much...

The scene with this song is just perfect

But it was another version of this.

  • @dlmattos Yeah same ! Everytime i hear songs from it i get slightly depressed... XD

  • If you want to hear people who have talent, come on my channel and my site. I have talent in the sense that it is not common. Though it is not common, people like myself will never get a record deal in todays world. Being uncommon is not popular.

  • This song is boring. Very bland and the melodies are blah.

  • one of the those days where all you want to do is watch Seth and Ryan and listen to Rahael Yamagata.

  • I use to think the same way about media coverage, but you know what? I feel very special to be part of "under a million " views, it's like we share this secret of music that goes underground where we have been pulled into not by the herd but by our hearts, and I think that's the kind of following somebody who puts their soul in music the way Rachael does deserves, sincere and unbiased.

  • An amazing song, and one that barely got any airtime on mainstream radio. Seems like a lot of people have discovered this song thru YouTube.

  • thumps up, if The O.C brought you here, season 2 epo 3 ... poor marisa / poor seth...

  • @cttn101 i got here from RACHAEL YAMAGATA!

  • am i the only one borught here by the oc?

  • @CharlieSavage me too :)

  • Rachael.. u dont know that you created my life ;)

    love u!

  • why do i get the tradgic feeling that this song is soon to become the story of my life. wish me luck!

  • The opening reminds me of Blondie's "Maria"

  • Is this song supposed to insinuate that she's lesbian? Not that I have anything against it. Just curious. I fully support the gay community. :)

  • @jupiterflunk92 Where do you get that from..? She loves her boyfriend and he pretends to love her but underneath they both know that he's in love with another girl. She's always comparing herself to this girl and doing everything she can, but it's never going to be enough because she's never going to be this girl he loves.

  • @kaitlinownsall Oh sorry I was listening to this song without my headphones on. So yeah, a little off on the lyrics.

  • She awesome! Awesome voice! Amazing!!!

  • her voice is hypnotizing

  • Sounds like the singer from florence and the machines, BRILLIANT! -3

  • ooh its my ugly coolness tj! ♥

  • pure talent :)

  • This song is a chameleon. I have heard at least four different version. It is on a soundtrack disc I imported in my Itunes and sounds completly different from this version. Regardless, each versions are amazing. I am glad that we have Rachael Yamagata and I especially like this song.

  • The OC

  • Amazing song, amazing voice! Who cares who shes like???! Shes like racheal, Not gaga not perry!!

  • cool singer!

  • Потрясающая певица!!!

  • Im a new fan of her,is she a half-Japanese..because of her surname!!

  • Love her!! Saw her live a few years ago and it rocked my socks.

  • beautiful and sad song

  • This is freaking awesome...talent lies here!

  • swa-heet!

  • Yamagata love!!!!!

  • She reminds me of Priscilla Ahn

  • @odomisauq yeah same way here

  • I found out about this song thru The OC. Is that cool, guys?

  • Since we're on the topic of Gaga and Perry, my opinion is that Rachael is primarily talented and all her songs are prime examples. Gaga and Perry on the other hand, seems to have the need to show more skin to get the media attention they need.

Pretty desperate if you ask me.

  • someone please make a karaoke to this

  • love this song. she reminds me of Heather Nova.

  • shes my new obbsession!

  • Rachael Yamagata is so talented she should get rewarded as best singer in the world!

  • Guys... just cuz you guys like a singer, don't need to tell people that others suck. Rachael is a talented singer. So is Lady Gaga.

  • LADY GAGA AND KATY PERRY ARE TWO WAY DIFFERENT ATISTS, KATY PERRY DOWN RIGHT SUX....SHE IS A LITTLE TOO OLD TO BE SINGING THE SONGS SHE DOES, BUT HONESTLY, LADY GAGA HAS A GREAT FUCKIN VOICE AND IS BETTER ON PIANO THAN ALICIA KEYES FOR SURE...ARTISTICALLY SPEAKING GAGA IS WAY OUT THERE, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY SHE HAS MORE TALENT IN ONE FINGER THAN MOST OF THE ARITIST TODAY ALL ROLLED INTO ONE.....

  • every city has poverty mixed with whealty, it doesn't happen only in latin american. same mistake about brazil, btw

  • i love this song, epic gorgeous!

    love her too

  • MATE! its the popemobile.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • I have a different album version, on mi Itunes that I love. I love this version as well. There used to be another version, live, with Rachel Yamagata standing in front of a Piano. It was very mellow, very gut grabbing, very powerful. Of course it has been removed now, but I guess no matter what the tempo or the interpretation is, I love this song.

  • one of my new favourites!

  • look a bit like maggie q

  • "Worn me down like a road, worn me down to my knees, I did everything to please." This applies to so many situations in life. Rachael is simply BRILLIANT!

  • pretty and talented! love her!

  • i love the song..the melody. and i think she got very pretty eyes .. with a very expressive glance!

  • love it :)

  • lol i just love how everyone looks at her

  • Such a great song.

  • Songs from the O.C. are absolutely AWESOME!

  • Episode 3, S2. The New Kids On The Block. The final scene with Seth and Marissa alone, I thought was one of the best shot endings, with this song made and the way it was shot it felt a lot like a Dawsons Creek Episode. Which is a really good thing, seein as Dawsons Creeks cinematography was awesome

  • WOuld be nice if Rachael got the media coverage those no-talents Lady Gaga and Katy Perry receive.

  • @baf929 Heyy, now, let's not Gaga-and-Perry-bash. The fact that they managed to charm the public enough to get their coverage speaks to their talent with advertising, and both have musical talent in their own ways. While more recognition would certainly be nice for Rachael, she has loving fans either way and I think she knows that. So we're good. :)

  • @MagicalZayz wonderfully said...

  • @MagicalZayz Level-headed bastard.

  • @baf929 ohhh but I actually think Katy has some talent :) I'm a big fan of Rachael Yamagata too

  • @baf929 katy perry,yes. Gaga,you're absolutely wrong.

  • @baf929 No-talent? Obviously you haven't heard either one sing or seen either one dance then.

  • ughhh i love you OC

  • I thought she was going to be much more popular then she is....

    what an amazing voice.

  • Love this song<333333333

  • every gay guy can relate to this. only if you've dated a bi/curious guy.

  • @helladerrick lol.... but the song could also be for girls... but i agree with u haha

  • Comment removed

  • good voice

  • I thought this song was about how she is worn out over fighting for this guy who loves another women, and all he can do is think and talk about the other girl.

  • @HaNnAhDEE123 Story of my life -.- lol

  • @HaNnAhDEE123 That what is so ingenius about the song. It misleads you to believe she is tired of sharing her time with her man who is obssessed over a former love...until you realize, it is SHE, that is tired of thinking about the girl.

  • ''she's soo pretty..she's sooo damn right, but i'm so tired ot thinkin about her again tonight''

she's meaning - that she can't stop thinkin about how perfect she is for him and how she's everything to him but she's soo completely tired of thinkin about her being with him and getting who she used to have.

  • love herrrr!!!

  • I love this song....my life right now......

  • are there two versions of this song? I swear I have heard two

  • i guess so!

i've heard another version before, just listening to this version for the first time today :P

  • yea me too! i've been trying to look for the other version

  • @Andiepunkprincess me too

  • @Andiepunkprincess Yes there are two versions:)

  • I first heard this song from the OC and it was perfect for the scene. There's something quite sad about this song, not just the lyrics but the tone of it generally, but I still keep coming back to it, i love it!

  • Hey jam you f**king idiot, there are 407 posts on this one thread, almost all of them positive and filled with love, and then you come along, so how can you say no one cares.

  • STOP TALKING. NO ONE CARES. YOU ARE NOT, NOR WILL YOU EVER BE FRIENDS WITH HER. congrats, you met her once for an hour. stop freaking acting like youre her publicist/spokesperson.

  • In NYC. The DJ's played whole albums without interruption(like Tommy). Read poetry, played different versions of the same song like "Blinded by the LIght" and "Time After Time", and there was even 2 version of "The Twist" which they would play back-to-back. Allison Steele was on late at night and billed herself as the "Night Byrd"(8 miles high, anyone?). She was your guilty pleasure. If you dared turn on the radio, you couldn't turn it off. That is who she reminds me of.

  • If you wanted to get up close and meet Rachael, all you had to do, was go on the Cayamo Cruise run by Sixthman. I swore I would never go on a cruise, but when I saw that she was on it, I changed my mind. The voice she reminds me of, and this is going back a long, long way, so you youngster won't know what I'm talking about, is Allison Steele(RIP). Way back when, there was no music on FM radio, it was all on AM. Then the FCC changed to regulations and FM music was born. Up popped WNEW-FM.

  • I know Rachael likes Kings of Leon, and she personally recommended to me Regina Spektor. Now I already like Kings of Leon, but I haven't listened to Regina Spektor yet, but I sure will.

  • @Ironman957, wow, are you serious?? Lucky! :P haha

Regina Spektor is AMAZING, yes, listen to her!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • I love Rachael. She's so talented.

  • I have seen and heard four versions of this song all by Rachael. The original CD version from Elephants, which features a synth sound. A fast piano version(live). A fast guitar version(Rachael playing guitar), and a very slow(Elephant slow) version on piano. I think the fast guitar version or the slow piano version, which is imparts a completely different vibe to the song are best.

  • and I find it cool that depending on which version of the song you hear, the meaning is somewhat different. While the basic idea which you mention in your prior post is that this one is a frustrated version, while others are sad (that beautiful slow piano version) or angry (the live loud guitar version). And yes, that Reason Why with "Stage flirtations" is worth the 8 minutes.

  • One more thing, she did "Worn Me Down" on guitar, with her bass player, switching to piano. She used a drum machine on "What If I Leave".

  • P.S. This version is the original from Rachael's first CD Happenstance, not Elephants which is her latest

  • I met Rachael a few days ago, talked to her for over an hour, had my own "flirtation" with her. Got pictures with my arm around her(her suggestion). She actually knows who I am. We talked about music and life and stuff. She's everything her music suggests she is. On "Reason Why" at the 2nd show, she started talking about how they use her songs on "hospital" shows with people leaving and going up to heaven. Then she said they used that song for a doggie going to heaven, when she got to

  • the part about "Follow the tracks that I have left", she started laughing to herself while she was alone on stage. She said "Now all I can think about is paw tracks going up to heaven, bow-wow-wow". She finished the song(sort of) singing "Man's best friend, kibbles and bits, Man's best friend, kibbles and bits". Totally disarming personality. She finished her shows with the very painful, but beautiful "Sunday Afternoon".

  • I asked her why she didn't do songs like "Under My Skin" and "Letter Read"(very difficult songs to play). She told me the two musicians with her were new, and didn't know all of her music. I got pretty close to her, she's so beautiful inside and out. She let it be known that she's not with anyone. Whoever left her and hurt her, is the biggest fool on this planet. I'd take her in a heartbeat, but the age difference is too hard to overcome. Her version of "River" by Joni Mitchell turns a

  • plaintive folk song, into a sensuous love fest, and she doesn't even know it's on You Tube.

  • You're right, I got my CD's mixed up.

  • If Alanis Morissette can sing about "transparent dangling carrots" then anything is possible. Having listened to an awful lot of Rachael's songs and performed a few, I think the song is about her boyfriend interested in another woman, and her frustration about it. Also watch the U-Tube Video of "Reason Why" where she completely loses it in a flirtation with..............a guy. She is the most smoothly sensuous singer/songwriter out there.

  • Anyone have a date on any upcoming albums from her?

  • Elephants was released a short while ago. Well worth it! Really solidly built upon Happenstance, less (and i hate to use the word) 'pop' and more soulful.

  • She only played one new song, in her last show. She told me her next CD will be something wild and completely different. Right now she's moving from Philadelphia to Upstate New York, so I think it will be awhile.

  • Songs can mean anything similar and everything different to anyone that listens to them. (and that's okay!!) Perhaps, no one knows what any song really means if they aren't the one who penned it.

  • Has anyone considered this: Perhaps she isn't singing to her male lover, but to herself. Perhaps, it is she, that has had a love affair with another woman, and Rachel is trying to get the memories of this other woman--her lover--out of her head. Listen to the lyrics again, with this thought in mind.

  • Exactly! Most people don't even consider the fact that this song could be about her romance with a woman (talk about narrow-mindedness). Honestly, the very first time I heard this song I thought it was about exactly what you said. It didn't for a second occur to me that it was addressing a guy.

  • @burrrntUP

Although you bring up a valid point, the song wouldn't make sense if she was referring to herself in the "you can't stop thinking about her" because she would be messing up tenses between going back and forth between "you can't" and "Worn me" Not to mention in the one line she mentions "I" which supports the conclusion that she is not talking to herself. The song, could, however, be about a distant female lover involved with another woman. However, she isn't talking to herself.

  • @burrrntUP

You are entitled to believe whatever you want, but please don't consider us "narrow-minded" if we believe the song is about a man who is thinking about someone, as opposed to a woman thinking about someone else. The meaning is still the same, its about the perils of love and the emotions that go along with it. And if the majority of people identify with a male/female relationship, because they have never experienced a same sex relationship that should be ok to.

  • Worn Me Down is about a guy, however Under My Skin is subject to interpretation. I think, having met her that under my skin is also about a guy, that she turns down and the ""her" she refers to in the song, is herself. But whatever turns you on is OK with me.

  • I love this song :) there's a cover with violin on my channel!

  • Beautiful Angel.

    Love n Light, MT

  • hell of a song.

  • I love rachael however, all the people in the background are looking at her like who the hell is this person in the glass box!

  • Great scenes of Mexico. I've been there several times. Its beautiful but the poverty of the place is heartbreaking.

  • @Piercetp Come on! You should come again! Here are poverty like in yur country obviously! So... learn a little more about mine :)

  • @Piercetp Lol, not all of Mexico is poor.

  • @Piercetp Poverty? Are you serious? My city, Tijuana, is not poor. Let me tell you that this town is one of the most important cities of Mexico. You have a very WRONG idea about this city and the country. You've must come to this city before you comment about it.

  • still love this song.... <3 do you know other songs similar to this??? love the atmosphere of this....

  • true, when there's still other woman accept you in your man's head

  • I know this is going to sound crazy but, could you contact me in some way with Mandy? It`s just that I just love her since A walk to remember movie =), Perhaps it`s just the character, but sure I would love to meet her or at least to know a little bit about her, from herself. Crazy I know, but it`s not a sin to dream =)

Abut Rachael and this particular song and version, of course I like her and love this one, it was great tha I just discovered her music just few days ago.
