Is it known where real David is now? At the end of a movie, he stays behind. I wonder what happened to him, and if he is still around. I felt a little sadness because he would not be a part of Shirley's life at the end of the movie...it's tough when friends have to part.

David isn't real. In an interview Shirley MacLaine stated that David was a fictional character but based on a compilation of people in her life.
