I like how compact the BR series is. The sounds aren't that bad. It takes a little time to get used to the routing but they make great "sketch pads" to hear what works in your song and what doesn't. They're not the absolute in the recording world but they're still pretty cool. I like my Br 1600.
deciding between this and the firestudio project..,been hearing a lotta bad shit about the firestudio,like sound cuttoffs or it just not working on a compatible computer,i know this thing will work but it wont sound as good...any suggestions?
Most of the sounds are absolute crap. The bass sim is totally ridiculous & ineffective. The acoustic simulator is an expensive joke. This machine is a very expensive toy with a few good sounds & a lot of ultra tinny toyish ones. The br8 was much better.
It's only a portable recording device, it's not like you're going to record entire albums with it, it's just for putting down ideas. Just gotta put up with the mediocre sounds

The guy in this ad spent most of the time talking about all the effects that this unit has, but practically nothing about its recording capabilities! The BR-1600 is mainly sold a multi-track recorder, not a rack effects! Can one has the same unit without all those effects? LOL! I already have the Boss DR-880 and it has plenty of effects! I'll probably get the Fostex MR-16HD to start.
HELP what is a good distortion effect to use on the unit itself ....a sound like the guitar in blink 182 , linkin park, etc... distortion guitar i cant find a good one can someone help me ??
6 months ago- you probebly know or dont care by now. if not then yeah you can switch the effects off and just mic up- or switch the effects off and just line in. if you do record with the effects though they are fixed, cant be removed from the recorded sound. and visa versa you cant add effects later other than reverb, chorous or delay.

Hi Im a member of the Ethnesys Group and we do use the 1600 to record everthing and it really is an awsome piece of kit, but you gotta dig into it

The effects all sound like crap - shallow, thin, CRAPOLA.

That's a 1200 not a 1600 as the video is labeled. Just saying. Functionality between the two is close enough though.
