if ya think about it, would 4WD be any different to RWD with Bunta's skill? Also if ya watch fourth stage properly you'll find he's training takumi in a very effective way.

well I see that training takumi to get used to 4WD from RWD is a good way for him to become even better if not surpass Bunta. I tried 4WD after 5 years of driving/drifting RWDs and it is not an easy thing to learn off the bat. RWD you got the rear wheels slipping so you control with the front and try to regain grip with the rear as you make the corner. 4WD you gotta get the front to slip a bit more then the rear as you start the drift. But i'm still learning...

And kids this was a lesson in car physics.

Once in motion a vehicle will remain in motion until something acts on it. This is true when sideways. The steering wheel 90% of the time will point in the right direction when oversteering. You can control the slide with proper throttle control. And to think I think drifting is a waist of tires... I like grip.. but I also like speed, and drifting is not the fastest way around a track. It looks cool but is a waist.

drifting is somewhat fast through some corners. it depends where you initiate the drift. drifting is not fast at a track, but around a touge corner it is. look at the drift bible. KT demos the difference between show and speed drift. of course, this is initial d the 1st season. so they stress drifting alot.

Even in tracks your always drift at a point or another. Most of the time so slightly people don't even notice it. Drifts aren't necessarly spectacular.

Racing isn't about "drift/grip battle", it is about knowing when to use one or the other and at what dose according to the road material, condition, car/tyre/equipement limits etc... basically all the factors a pilot got to consider.

Ironically, drifting was created to compensate for the lack of grip if the car is unstable while racing, you either slide outside of the track or you use all 4 wheels to stay on it while creating huge tire burn. (Power Drift)

For anyone wondering if it's possible to do a no-hand drift...it is. You have to have the car setup PERFECTLY, and you have to initiate the drift, PERFECTLY, and then you control the steering with the throttle.

I read how a Porsche test driver would do it to scare reporters, since he was so good and the car was set up just right he could drift with no hands just pumping the throttle just right. It's a Top Flight skill level.
