We have a global banking system. There is no German banking system or Euro banking system or American banking system. They (large banks) are the creditors; we the people and our governments are the debtors. The sinews connecting economies are the currencies in which these debts are denominated. Germany is now learning it is ultimately a debtor. It owes, like the rest of us the global banking system.
@hyperboreean Yes it's the first time I heard this too and I am pretty schocked about it! In fact, in addition to measures for austerity we are forced to take in Europe, our politicians and lobbies will do anything to take away our social welfare contracts and quality of life!

By bartering and doing business locally, you destroy these corporate welfare bums. Take charge and stop blaming; this raises the floor and sky becomes the new ceiling. Man made problems, economy is not a rocket science :)
