I test a new Macbook that they send me by seeing how certain functions performed and then filling out a questionaire about it.Then I kept the Macbook for free.
I have a question. First should I go for glare or anti glare. When I get a MBP I will be on the go every now and then and I think its worth it as I can not control lighting situations let me know if this is correct and what you think. Seeing I will be using this system to edit with Final Cut Pro would I be right getting the better graphics and the 7200PRM drive. Will the faster drive cause overheating? And also should I go for the larger screen and better graphics or spend the money on a Lowry
@0100010010EB yeap i must agree..honest truth is when you compare prices. UNLESS YOU ABsolutely must have a built in dvd burner,13.3" mba would be a better deal although 100 bucks more. samsung 128 gb ssd inside. cpu isn't slower enough to call it a con. All other specs are similar except lacking a port or two overal. Depends on your needs. but If you're used to ssd like i am..you WILL NOT want to go back to hdd as your o.s. storage device. I know apple could have afford to put in a gt335m
I'm gonna buy this one in september hoping the new model will be out by than. (And give my just bought Samsung SF311 to my wife than). No more hp for me. Sony screens, I can see the pixels on, something I dont want. Macbook pro and air are so sexy. just want one in my house.
For Graphic design and Film editing, is the Glossy or Anti-glare screen a better option? I'm thinking of buying a 2011 Macbook pro for my A2 Media and Art courses... any thoughts?
Looking for a really good laptop for video editing. I'm a film student. Don't have a lot of money to get a desk top computer. I have been looking at the Mac Pro since I'm using Final Cut Pro. But I don't know if that's a good idea or not. I have a PC but been using Apple's in my college classes. If someone can point me in the direction of a good fast laptop with really good memory and that can stand Final Cut Pro that would be great. You can email me at lbschlutt@alaska.edu. Thanks.
fastest notebook youve ever tested stop being a fanboy and look at alienware OMG they are the exact same price and if you hate windows go buy a mac OS CD and use mac OS instead
@RYANC489M11X does the fact that he says it's the fastest he's tested mean he's a fanboy? no, it means he hasn't tested anything faster. He isn't saying it's faster than an Alienware. He just said that out of what he himself has used, this is the fastest.
Mac and pc has their uses respectively... For my muSic I would never go with a pc...when burning discs and song files the drives are very quiet on a mac.. Pc drives are a bit "glitchy"
I bought better Laptop with win 7 x64 with i7 proccesor and 8 gigs of ram + it has 1.5Tb 7.2 k rpm HDD and a 470 GTX in it, and it cost me effin 1,2 k bucks, of course I don't get 7 h battery life, but as I have life I dont really need to work on my laprom outdoors or something and every place I work on my laptp has a where to plug in my power cord. ah, and it looks better, is compatable with All programs I want and I can play games on it as much as I want. Mac is just a waste of time and your $
@everves Looks are subjective. My 2009 Macbook Pro is even more compatible than your Windows machine for the simple reason that I can run OSX, Linux, AND Windows 7. I consistently game on my Mac and even though its 2 years old I bet I still get better battery life than most brand new Windows machines. Oh and I've never invested a dime into anti-virus software. To each his own.
@KTM990WFO BTW, Mac is Linux based OS, secondly majority of programs on Win are 32 bit because many people ae using XP, about compatability, try using those programs on MacOs not Win installed on MacOs. And I am saying that I better buy Win just because it is cheaper, I don't want to pay several times more money just for less.
@everves Both OSX and Linux are Unix based OS's. A large chunk of Windows 7 programs still run in 32-bit compared to OSX. Why would I try using a Windows program on OSX? Of course it wouldn't work. Thats like saying try running iMovie in Windows. It won't work. However because I can use Windows 7 on my Mac, that makes it a more versatile machine. And you're right, you do pay more for a Mac most of the time. But you're paying more for more, not more for less.
@everves BTW it isn't just about the hardware that makes speed. Windows 7 is slow, there's just no way around it. How do I know this? Because I run OSX and Windows 7 on the exact same hardware. Windows is sluggish and doesn't respond nearly as fast as OSX. Many of the programs that Windows uses are still in 32 bit, where as almost everything OSX runs is in 64 bit.
Did you custom build your machine or did you buy it from a manufacturer?
Can you make a review about this computer using architecture & design programs? I know it's a super computer but I'm thinking of buying a new macbook pro and I can't decide between the 17" to the 15". Thanks.
is a 13" macbook pro still good? im thinking of getting one myself but because of the price im having thoughts. i do a lot of video editing and graphic design so it seems a good laptop to get. not sure if a 13" will be too small though.

@allsixcolours The 2011 model has 4 cores and the 2010 models only have 2.
mitch625 11 months ago 5
@allsixcolours also, it has an i7 proccesor
TheWisePhotographer 11 months ago
@allsixcolours
Also, it is a different architecture, therefore the speeds aren't equal across the board.
Example (made these up): Pentium 2.0Ghz vs Sandy Bridge i Series 2.0GHz. The Sandy Bridge would win.
You cant compare processors just by the speed. Hope this helped a bit.
