I own one Its a great Synth For freaky raspid sounds... I use it a lot you can make a lot of amazing stuff with the Xt. Its all about imagination and knowing this baby inside out. If you learn your Synth any synth inside out wow!!! THEY CAN BE extremely powerful. Plus a few famous Dj for Trance music and other kind of genre used like Tiesto . You can def see the big orange Microwave xt on his studio.

They don't make it anymore, I got one on eBay. It's probably the best wavetable synth ever made, unless you're rich and lucky and want to count the Waldorf Wave (which the Microwave is based on).

Very unique synth, can sound analog or it can sound like nothing else. It's special.

Certainly it's a matter of personal taste. But the XT is a wavetable synth, pretty rare and unique sounding. The Q is a virtual analog, and they are far more common.

I too own three XTs and two Qs.

Both are very good at what they do.

I had the rackmount version. God, I hated trying to program that synth. You have so much range, that most sounds are unusable. Infernally annoying if you don't have some kind of controller. Plus it's so hard, industrial and raw only it's mother-bot could love it.

You should have spent more time with it. It's a synthesizer power house that really isn't that hard to program great/usable sounds into.

Maybe I wasn't looking at it's genetic makeup - I was treating it like an Analog synth, and comparing the results.

The guy in the video has pots to work with - much better.

I mean the pots - accessibility. The version I had was the Microwave version I back in 1994, which had no knobs except the dial, and I don't really like the display.

I didn't have the XT version like in the video - that looks way more configurable, and looks like fun actually!

You should at least consider it. It's a wonderful synth that can make all sorts of sick textures that you can't pull out of other synths. Then again, it's not for everybody.
