There is no hope for the Church today, at least in my lifetime? This is arrogant testimony Christ Church today is lovely, wise, and pure. What he is giving testimony too is not the Bride. The Bride is perfect as Christ desires. No hope for the Church? Because doctrine is not preserved? All truth about Christ is living today. The focus here is on fallacy not on truth You spend all time reacting you miss truth Christ is never undermined, ever!
This guy does not get it.All of God's effective Church is under the radar;"there is nothing wrong with that" Are you kidding? The Bride belongs to Christ and He will bring the Bride back to Himself clean without spot or wrinkle. The blind absurdity is he too is a part of the fallacy.
Much of this downward spiral Brother Johnson explains here is written about by Iain H. Murray in his book "Evangelicalism Divided." Very good book. I highly recommend it. :)
So I always thought that evangelism was basically trying to get people to accept Jesus in their hearts. Something that I never thought was a good idea. Am I wrong about what it is?
Thank you for replying. I believe it is very aggressive, and worldly. Can you imagine C. H. Spurgeon listen to this introduction? What would be his reaction? I believe that the music is a language which communicate a message just like the words. Many does'n believe that. Why is that many child react aggressively to this kind of music, and not to an other?
So are you referring to (1) The 4/4 timing; (2) the use of instruments (e.g. guitars, drums); (3) the loud singing; (4) the compression or other studio effects (distortion), or (5) all of the above or something else. Please refer to at least one Bible passage in your response and try not to make it just about musical tastes, be it Spurgeon or whoever.
Hi! You spoke about that Biblical theology changes your worship. How is it that you play such an ungodly music in the beginning of these videos? Or am I wrong?
Otherwise thank you for uploading these videos. They help me in my understanding of the Biblical theology. God bless you! János from Hungary
I think it was a combination of dry Gospel messages, which led to no Gospel service and was replaced with discussion, debate and dialogue instead of the Holy Spirit anointed proclaimation of the Gospel, which Andrew Murray came about because of the sin of prayerlessness. We have to return to prayer and the anointed proclaimation of the Gospel and not lock horns with the New Age Christs. That would be repeating History. We have a commission and we will obey our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen ?
I would agree with you that old-line Gospel messages were dry, but I hardly think that they were replaced by discussions such as these. The Emergents (New Age Christs, if you will,) are particularly engaged in "conversations," as opposed to proclaiming the Word, primarily basing their teachings on their misinterpretation of Acts 17. Engaging with true fellow pastors is a way to guard & teach the flock, but not all they do. I just heard Phil's anointed preaching last Sunday, subbing for JMAC.
Lane, Great show brother. I firmly believe if you truly love God with all you are, you will love His word and let it change you no matter how hard it is to be to conformed to that word. Problem is...The majority of professing Christians aren`t willing to conform, they don`t want the conviction that comes along with it, they want to remain in their comfort zone. I say,"GET UNCOMFORTABLE WITH GOD." Blessings brother...Great job.
Bell's definition of 'evangelical' is exactly what Johnson said: secular humanism. The fact that there is no mention of the gospel or Jesus Christ speaks volumes.
I suggest that those who are newborn Christians stay grounded in the Word of God, because postmodernism has attempted to not just water down, but negate the gospel!
Be careful of those who would tamper with the Truth, and attempt to do what man has always done, defy God under the guise of 'religion'.
Great video Lane. Thanks for taking the time to share it.
It's fascinating how our society sees taking care of the earth and social justice the mark of a decent person rather than love for Christ. It troubles me how many people confuse political platforms with the gospel--both Dems and Republicans.
Paul Washer really defines what being a Christian means, especially the doctrine of being regenerate. I hope we get back to that and sanctification.
I'm working on that now. Hopefully soon, I'll have audio of all these shows that will be available for download on iTunes. I will keep you updated via videos by making an announcement when it all comes together. Thanks for your encouragement.
Wow Lane... awesome interview. I deal with a generation that is "spiritually hungry but constitutionally antagonistic to anything that declares truth" every day. Thanks for posting this, and thanks for continuing to take a stand.
lol... thanks for displaying postmodern hooey for the bankrupt philosophy it is, henryforshaw. You can say we're arrogant, but you can't even stand behind it long enough to admit that you just said it given your philosophy.
If every argument is circular, then why are you arguing that every argument is circular? Your assertion is meaningless and is not justifiable. Your entire position is self-refuting and if you cannot see then there is no need to have you here to just provide more useless comments without defending the ones you've already made.
If I argue that cheese is infact a dairy product, my justification for it being cheese will always go back to it being cheese and because I do not take the 100% certainty stance on it I do not fully trust that it is what I think it is.
henryforshaw, how do you reconcile Jesus statement that He is the truth with your two statements that we can only guess what the truth is and you are a Christian?
I believe and have faith in Jesus, I have trust in him, but I do not claim to have 100% certainty of him. However I am pretty certain. Jesus claims to be the truth within the bible, I accept that as very likely however I always put an uncertainty to everything I believe or I would be a fool. I would be arguing like the scientists who thought the earth was flat. I would still argue I just would have a more open mind than someone who says they are 100% certain.
How can you believe something if you always leave room for doubt? Are you not simply undecided (James 1:6)? To be completely sure of sometihng is not foolish per say, especially if you are completely sure of Christ's standing and claims.
henryforshaw, I'm just curious, Are you absolutely certain of your sin? It just seems to me, that if one is absolutely certain of their sin, one has to also be certain of a Holy and just God. Without certainty of God being Holy, then how can one be certain of sin? And if you are certain of your sin, what do you think God should do, or could do about it?
I am absolutely certain of nothing, im not even certain of not being absolutely certain. I am making an arguement that in order to be certain you would have to know absolute truth, God has not given any human the knowledge of absolute truth. We can merely guess we know some things correctly. I have guessed that some of the things I know are correct. However if I am to remain on fair ground with you I have to acknowledge that I am uncertain.
Hi henry, still mulling over your last comment. It is true, that no human has complete absolute knowledge, in the sense that none of us knows everything. However, there are things we can be absolutely sure of. Such as math. 2+2=4 no matter what. Also, there is indeed a transcendent moral law that we all know and understand. Any man who says raping little children is not morally wrong is just as incorrect as the man who says 2+2=5. can we atleast agree on this?

Is your Mom really you Mom? I mean honestly, do you remember her giving birth to you? LOL. You can't be certain can you? The point is, you have to have faith in some things.
Excellent follow up to your first show. Interesting, great guest, and nice to see you becoming more polished on camera.
All in all, its a great show and one that I will watch regularly.
Thank God for you Lane, one who is willing to stand up and 'earnestly contend for the faith'.
We know it has become quite fashionable to disrespect us old-fashioned Calvinists, but we know we have the Truth and the Truth shall triumph! Keep on keeping on Lane, I support you 100%.
Great job on this episode Lane! It's so sad to see the Church going in this direction. We have to keep praying and interacting with our neighbors; by God's grace these guys can come out of these grievous errors. Keep up the great work!
Enjoyed the video, here is my question for Phil. God being sovereign, when we refer to the church as moving away from the gospel of Christ to postmodernism or to a watered down seeker movement, are we talking about the True Church of Jesus Christ, and not what the world sees as the "church"? I see all of it confirming the Scriptures, the way things seem to be going, but I'm sure in the End God will work all things for His glory, and the true church will be presented without spot or blemish?
I think Paul Washer answers your question in his sermons when he talks about how only in America do you see 'carnal' Christians where the person never produces any spiritual fruit. IMO, the church here is full of unconverted people who believe they're saved because they prayed the sinner's prayer. Like he says, 65% of Christians don't even attend church regularly. Paul Washer describes what a true Christian is. Also, check out the book Holiness by JC Ryle for more on what God expects of us.
I'm new to the party. I didn't know who Phil Johnson was until you posted the "Sound Words/Sound Doctrine" sermon. I've been hooked ever since. It's so sad that sound historical doctrine is becoming more and more the minority in our culture. Continue the fight Lane with edifying videos. God bless!
