  • Erm , im a gamer and i need a really low ping , what internet would u recomment me? I like in the uk, thanks!

  • Note to all: Some time in the last 2 months BT or Adobe have solved this issue. Even at peak times the flash player download runs at a sensible speed. Torrents are still limited to about 12kB/sec - even on BT Infinity 40mbps / 10mbps!.

  • Bt Broadband was awfull but they upgraded me to BT Infinity this week and I get 37Mb download speeds and 15 ping :) Was about to move to virgin cable but Im better off now with BT.

  • @NielsShoe Good to know that, even during peak times Infinity performs well?

  • @UriPlaysMC Depends entirely on line quality and if 21cn is already in your exchange. If you can pop into IRC and retrieve some stats from the router, your potential BE speed can be estimated [if no horriffic line faults exist].

  • im on o2, is there any way of getting around traffic management

  • @DJSHAUNYB82 Don't know as I am over on BE without the traffic management. Migrate to BE maybe? Try using a VPN?

  • @icannotgetafreename When i do a speedtest it says my isp is Be UNlimited? even though im on o2? Also how would i try a vpn? thanks

  • @DJSHAUNYB82 o2 use the same "IP Space" as BE. You would need to find a VPN provider (not free) and test it. DDWRT Privacy VPN software MAY work for free.. never used it before though - may just install spyware :D Research first!

  • I really dont know which is a good provider Ive had bt and orange and they are both bad :(

  • @XC0MB4TXEV0LV3D Yes, both of those were bad choices. If you can get BE, go for BE. If not then look at Plusnet (who at least, are open about their traffic management and network capacity). Virgin.net ADSL, Post Office, BT, Orange, o2 (who now traffic shape) and TalkTalk NON-LLU are all bad choices.

  • @icannotgetafreename Thank you.

  • Nice :)

  • BT Stitched Me up too, after continually getting charged "excess usage" on Option 2 I was told by BT that what I needed was their Option 3 UNLIMITED package, I took them at their word & since then, BT have "Throttled" my broadband EVERY SINGLE MONTH this has almost gone on for a whole year now, the package was clearly mis-sold to me and..., to add Insult to Injury, they've sent me a letter which actually tries to CON me Into yet another 12 MONTH contract

  • bt are goin fiber optic which is cool i cant wait i mean 10MB upload is sexual

  • @masterquadbiker It will be if they don't ruin it with traffic management like in the video :|

  • @masterquadbiker I will be if they dont traffic manage it to hell like they do with their ADSL products!

  • @masterquadbiker I will be if they dont traffic manage it to hell like they do with their ADSL products!

  • I just dont let it annoy me, I do all my downloading at night, job done!

  • Always a wise idea to do off-peak bulk downloads no matter what provider.

It wouldn't bother me so much but Adobe Flash Player is a major (almost required) component and often has updates. Throttling or having congestion on the download (only 1.9mb!) so it takes up to 15 minutes at times is just poor.

  • All dsl is a rip off in uk apart from BE/Ukonline(sky)

Only 2 options, I've had Ukonline and BE and I'd say they are about the same but BE offer more options hence why I switched to them, I get 20.5mbit/2.1mbit with BE and 99% of time top upload and download from wherever.

    Great service and very happy.

  • BT are such assclowns.... I recently decided to leave and go to BE,,,, BT's retention department blatantly lied to me saying BE couldn't offer me more than they could!

What a load of monopolistic uncompetitive idiots!

Should remove the name British from their name... good that they are being forced to open up their 'channels' so some decent companies can put in something better than the antiquated copper rubbish we have to use now.

    BT = fail

  • i was with bt for 2 years. i live 636m from exchange and used 2 get 6.5meg down and 0.4meg up when i speed tested, but whenever i used 2 try and download anything it used to slow down 2 a crawl just like your test. am now on be pro with static ip and annex m and get a steady 20meg down and 2 meg up. when i tryed 2 leave bt first they told me that i would not get any faster speed with be, and then when i demanded my mac code they gave me the wrong code and tryed 2 cancel the line completely.

  • 3352m to Guildford exchange. :( And that is straight line distance! Not the route the phoneline will take.

  • Christ. Wow Nice :D

  • How far are you from your exchange?

  • Having a BT line carrying another ISP's service is less lose than having a BT line and BT broadband :)

  • yes but a BT line is still needed for your broadband. therefore, you still lose :/

  • Not with TalkTalk :P

  • that would be an awesome counter advert to the rubbish they show on prime time tv pretending their own service is faster than others.

  • I got sick of BT traffic managing me after 6PM, (2Mbit reduced to less than 500k if lucky) then to add insult they sent me an email saying I used up all my 10GB bandwith for the month I was never on such a plan it was unlimited, turns out the email was a mistake but the damage was done.

I still use them for my phoneline whcih is of such poor quality it crackles and has done since August 2009

  • Haha Well Done mate :D

    +1 Subscriber & 5 Stars :D

    You sure showed bt :D

  • bt is fucking shit and im stuck on contract for 5 more months all i can say is good bye BT the day it runs out.

  • @KinoWoW bt are going fiber optic now which is cool i cant wait

  • BT got owned. That is all.
