One of the reasons songs like this were overlooked was because they were not played on pop F.M. radio stations. Many were regulated to soul stations on A.M. radio. Now people wonder why the music of this period didn't receive more airplay. My guess? Today's rap, autotune and sampled music is ironic justice. Now young people have to discover this music via Jay-Z, Dr. Dre and Snoop Doogg
Just heard this on BBC sound of the 60's and had to hear it again, what a great chill out song, love the soulful sound of all the musicians - especially the sax:))
Oldies are Forever Baby!!!! i,m an oldie's freak wish I could put my playlist players on here
i love Barbara Lynn Barbara Lewis so Much and so many more 1000's of them.. if you Love her music check out the Orlons they have so many great hits they were big back in the day and Hats off to Dick Clark the Legend of Oldies nice to see him hosting the 2012 new years eve party in NYC but he sure is up there in years God Bless you Dick you Rock for all the Great years you've kept the Oldies Comin
For those entertainers, musicians, vocalsits who are looking to break through, bring this style of music back, and become famous and wealthy overnight. Rap crap r.i.p..
I wonder if a 'black' person will agree to your statement, all my family/friends and myself agree with you.
In my opionnion, Thise RAp thing is a downfall for the 'black' people. I love Soul music, orginated by good black people, buttomline: Most Rap crab is totally negatury issue for 'Blacks'. Some 'blacks' will disagree, why?? It's an ego thing! Too bad, I have black friends, so I'm not aginst blacks, plain and simple: most Rap is crap!
That's how I feel about my special lady. Before in my womanizing, conniving days it was all about me, now I got a real, good thing truly sent from heaven above. So we have "dedicated our selves to be real, genuine, transparent, and honest in our "relationship. This is LOVE, not lust. Man, it feels really good for this man to finally grow up and realize being a player, one will end up with AIDS, lonely and sad.
Check out the newest version of the song with Jesse Flores (Lead Singer Vudu Cafe), Barbra Lynn (came back to record this new version) & The Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra. Jesse Flores & Barbara Lynn sing a duet on this timeless classic!
@rtcopper Please, Did Mary Wells record "You'll lose a good thing"? I already heard it by Aretha Franklin, Dee Dee Sharp and, of course, by Barbara Lynn in two recordings. I studied Mary Wells' discography and I didn't find this song in it. Please, which is it the other side of her single? Since now, many thanks (from Brazil)
@castelobrancopaulo This is a mislabel post. This is Mary Wells singing 'You'll Lose A Good Thing." If you listen to the recording by Barbara Lynn you would notices that the horns are a tad deeper and Barbara voice is deeper.
One of my favorites. I love it!

i am black and i agree but only to a fault....when rap started about 1978, it was innocent....from 1978-1987 it was innocent....but after?......
you are 100 percent right.

This is not Barbara Lynn singing this song. The voice you're hearing is Marry Wells.
