  • I miss him so much :(

Can´t be both? An excelent solo artist and the RHCP historical and best combination?

  • Syd must be very proud of this genious performing his song!

  • Emily Kokal?

  • He certainly did a better job than Bowie.

  • Lush voice and portrayal, does the song a great service.

  • RHCP lost an intelligent guitar player

  • wow total goosebumps. Go John!

  • Sweet, the guitarist from my second favorite band is covering a song from my favorite band!

  • never heard this guy before and probebly he has great songs of is own but...

!!!! that was not groovy at all :( no one, but no one could do it batter than SYD!!!!!!!

    SHINE ON YOU CRAZY D. & R.I.P

  • I hate girsl screaming @ live concerts (as in the final of the vid), only when they have a deep orgasm inside their moist cunt

  • @MVGN21 Asshole.

  • @CapnParsnips of course mine was only a joke..but the truth is that girls screaming @ live concerts were a reason of retirement of the Beatles from world tours..it was impossible hear their music due to girls shouting excitedly..this is an historic fact..

  • @ElliotJackRussel Oh yeah, no doubt about that. Anybody screaming excessively during live shows (especially when a song is playing) is as annoying as hell, but MVGN21's chauvinistic attitude is why I called him out as an asshole. It's not directed towards you! Hope I didn't offend! :P

  • Cute song about his girlfriend at the time. Yes I know it's Floyd, but I bet it's dedicated to Emily Kokal

  • I just love this, it's perfcet, but original floyd version is even better... :)

I must say, this is probably the first John's cover which is not better than original, in my oppinion :P

  • This makes me miss John even more. And it's not even a RHCP song....

  • FLOYD FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • a guitarist with soul (something you don't see much of nowadays) paying respects to a tragic genius who came like 40 years before... EPIC!!! ...the good stuff will NEVER die out!!!

  • nadien la tocara mejor ke Pink floyd(:

  • thumbs up if you liked, favourited and replayed

  • あー シドやりたかったんだな

    ジョンの精神世界を見てるみたいだ

    バンドから居なくなった理由は憶測でしか話せないけど

    理解できる事は多いよね

  • his first two albums are really inspired by syd barrets solo albums

  • Now that's cool.

  • If people the people around me were talking I'd rip their head off.

  • que le pasa a este idiota como se atreve a tocar una cancion de pink floyd y todos los mongoles que estan ahi no saben ni de quien es MOJONES

  • This F..cking rocks!

  • great song isn't that great of a cover but at least they did their early stuff... john musta really liked syd cuz ive seen others covers of his songs... R.I.P. SYD..... and PACKIT

  • love rhcp and pink floyd

gotta say that this cover isnt that great tho, but its ok :)

  • I have so much more respect for Frusciante now that I have heard this. Pink Floyd is one of the best, if not the best, bands in history.

  • class!!!!!!!

  • i was there and have a similar vid, great show

  • to slow

  • nice

  • who died too young? not Syd, he died about 3 years ago.

  • I'm am in awe that Frusciante is out there keeping Syd's music alive. The early Floyd was hugely influential in Britain, but disappeared without a trace in the U.S. so most people have never heard it. It's gutsy of him to play that for a RHCP crowd that just wants to hear "Under The Bridge" again. His take on it was great - without a full band and in memory of a fellow musician who died way too young, slow and soft was the right way to go.

  • real chili pepper fans arnt only interested in under the bridge. real fans listen to everything of theirs

  • great cover...it's a far better pink floyd cover than many i have seen...

  • the majority of people there probably thought this was a new song or something. too bad.

  • Maestro

  • think he's singing about his exgirlfriend. you know he sung "emily" once too.

  • LOVE ITTTT!!!

  • Yeah, I don't think a valid notion of a cover version should just be "let's take all the energy out of it"

  • fantastic!!

a brilliant cover / homage by a brilliant artist of a brilliant artist

  • amazing how far and how many Syd has reached. True talent never dies. Rest well piper.

  • Even in the state he ended up in Syd still had more cred than Gilmour,Waters,Wright and Mason all put together

  • I have no idea why you would make a statement like that. Syd was a very sad chapter in rock,a very interesting witty songwriter who never made it past 1968 because of the acid. Does losing your sanity after a very brief time of writing songs earn you cred? Syd's stuff is very dated now, where as Waters and Gilmore's music evolved and still sounds fresh and dynamic today. When I hear Syd, I like the stuff ... but I'm thinking, oh what might have been. When I hear the Floyd I'm thinking HELL YEA.

  • @dlburg I hear it and I thank God that we don't have to wonder what might have been with John. I'm so glad he's alive and still making music.

  • @dlburg he didnt just like, decay. he put out a couple solo albums and lived till '06

  • the word cover should always be replaced by the word homage in my opinion cuz nothing ever beats the original of any song

  • He's covering David Bowie who was covering Syd Barret of early Pink Floyd.

  • or you could just say he's covering syd barrett...

  • law of syllogism! didnt you take geometry? that means hes covering syd barrett

  • probably they haven't seen eachother but it's certain that they are soulmates.

  • love you john!!

  • oh my good god :D

  • I was at this show, gnarles barkley opened up for them and sucked balls. Awesome show by the chili peppers though!

  • how can you not tell he is Barrett fan, if you see John during his Niandra Lades days, John looked so similar to Syd

  • he's actually a fan of syd

  • i didn't know he was fan of pink floyd

  • hey alex, cute scream haa

i was looking for the syd barrett covers and for some reqason i remember you told me you recorded one of em and then i saw your lil picture haaa

  • lmao carla!! ya that's my scream and in the beggining you can hear my cousin scream "OH SHIT!" because he loves pink floyd

  • good cover...

  • That's a great song!

  • Wow i love the floyd i love RHCP i always knew there has something that linked the two its in the sound

  • I was there. I went nuts when John played it. I love the Floyd and I love RHCP. What a combo :)

  • very good cover.;)

  • I think this might be good. But what a load back ground noise. Made it impossible to watch.

  • frusciante rules! rest in peace syd and richard! we love you all!

  • damnit

    lol

this is the show after orlando where I saw them. Why couldnt of john played it there too?!?!

  • best seats in the house XD

  • Really, really great cover.

  • great cover, john is like a modern day hendrix in my opinion, because has that feeling, that many players don't

  • thats the reason all these metal/shred guitarists will never come close to being as talented as john. playing fast is something you can learn, playing with soul and emotion is something that can't be taught

  • @AdamskiFTW your words are perfect. :)

  • Wow, what a voice, didn't know he had it in him. This song sounds great when there's guitar chords played in the background instead of the Pink Floyd version, which is still pretty decent.

  • Wow, what a voice, didn't know he had it in him. This song sounds great when there's guitar chords played in the background instead of the Pink Floyd version, which is still pretty decent.

  • Syd Barrett influenced many and continues to have a great impact on the true artists and musicians that aren't out to just make a buck.

  • Very brave of him to sing.

  • Great song, great tribute, john's the man, but honestly, i think the floyd version is still better...

  • Of course, but what an unexpected tribute! From one who was almost lost relating to another who did end up lost. RIP Syd.

  • Of course, but what an unexpected tribute! From one who was almost lost relating to another who did end up lost. RIP Syd.

  • wow, i was there and I was really surprised to hear this! it was surreal!!!

  • I love both the original by Pink Floyd and the way John Frusciante does it.

  • great cover by a great man

  • Great tribute from the numer ones of today to the number ones of the past. Float on a river forever and ever!

  • That's a great song, I dunno why though.

  • He treats this wonderful timeless song with the reverence and respect it deserves...perhaps it was his tribute to the late Syd Barret who wrote this song...

  • couldnt agree more, frusiante is god, i had never heard a floyd cover from him or the peppers before

  • my favorite musician covering my favorite song. ahhh:)

  • but besides that this is so beautiful, he really nails the spirit of the song. LOVE IT!! :)

  • john is totally clean . hes obsessed with health and only putting good things into his body. he freaks out if he eats a cookie, i cant imagine him smoking a joint now adays.

  • i was reading a interview with guitar mag from a few months back and he hinted that he wasn't drug free

  • no, the journalist hinted he wasnt drug free. I would bet ten hundred bucks hes clean. especially not on hard drugs for fricks sakes that stuff.. and you dont make an album as clean and sober sounding as stadium arcadium on any kind of drug.

  • Dude I'm not saying he's back on drugs, I more then anyone don't want him to go back down that road again, i'm just saying what i read the interviewer saying.

  • k dude

  • what magazine was it ?

  • it was total guitar magazine a UK mag, if you go to the forum on jftab . com i think they might have the interview on there somewhere

  • interesting...

  • definitely a barrett song

  • @Barracuda007 What guitar mag was it?

  • no it was witte by syd barret

  • lol....

  • omggg i love this song!

  • jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa geweldig!!!

    wil ik ook kunneeeeeeen

    seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee emily plaaaaaaaaaaaay

  • jaa, die gaan we neuken

  • that was incredible

  • Concerning him messing up a bit on the words, can you really blame him, drugs or not? I mean think of all the stuff all the chord patterns and rhythms he has to have crammed in his head being the guitarist that he is, add onto that all of the background vocals, it's not surprising that he might occasionally make a slip in remembering lyrics.

  • I think Frusciante still uses a little.

  • heroin? i hardly doubt it... his arms couldn't take it but if you mean weed, there's been some discussion lately that he might be using weed so i don't know.. i just try to mind my own business and keep my mind on the music.

  • Yeah, I mean weed and stuff. He inferred as much in a Q or Mojo magazine interview last year. I forget which.

  • yeah and flea mentioned it too somewhere... i don't remember either

  • he he, no I haven't. will have a look though! might even get stuck in myself ;-)

  • (that was not directed at you 'doubt' ;-)

  • i know, i was just simply stating. people can get really aggressive here, that's why i hate posting videos sometimes. have you seen all the comments on that jf '89 guitar solo? my god people can be so ignorant.

  • I don't think I claimed the peppers are currently on drugs in my above post, I said his brain was affected from the years of drug abuse. big difference little boy

  • he he, you angry teenagers are funny. like you OWN the peppers. I've been listening to them since 1988, I've got a fair idea of what the story is. you can't tell me Frusciante's not a casualty. his arms are fucked from injected incorrectly and his got no teeth left, he wears falseys. and he always gets the words wrong with covers. check out "You and whos army", ghost horses...

So sorry to upset your little fragile world with my callous tongue! Ask Mummy for a hug, you'll feel better :-D

  • ahh i know what you mean but i don't think it's because of the drugs?

i mean some people just have bad memories (like myself) or maybe he just learns the lyrics phonetically

  • you are wrong

do you know why john forget things?

it isnt because he is still in drugs its because he used a LOT of drugs when he was young and that really fucked him up but now he is sober believe me

and the thing with the arms

obviously its because he used drugs thats for sure but also he has his arms fucked up because he put him self on fire years ago and that left him the scars that he has now

    so stop talking bullshit

  • lol calm down.

i've read interviews recently where he insinuates that he still does stuff.

  • i wish i coulda seen this live

  • i second that. his been off drugs for 9 years assfuck. im sick of people still saying the peppers are druggies and shit still. ingnorent fucks like you need go in a hole somewhere and die. quit poisoning our minds with your bullshit.

  • Coldacre, kindly fuck off and die.

  • it's 'hardly a sound' til tomorrow John. I don't think I've ever heard him do a cover without fucking the words up, he he. damn drug addled brain! nice choice though.
