Someone may have mentioned this before, but does it look like Graham Nash is not actually there. And, It seems to me like he is playing in front of a film of them playing for the shots that he IS in.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
Never knew this film existed - great scene and song. I always felt Graham started to look a lot younger when he changed his hair style from the pushed back look in this clip. Also it looks like Allan is drumming with midget hands at 0.51, 1.15, 1.27 and 1.58!
I just bought a DVD on EBay with about 80 Hollies videos on it, including this one. It's called Anthology, and the seller makes and sells them himself, so he has more available.
To one and all....this footage is incredible!!!! That's DON RATHBONE ON DRUMS!!!
the Hollies first Percusionist!! Even though it's the "B-side" to Stay (Elliot on drums), this tune was recorded in May'63 about two months before Bobby joined!
funny thing is on first glance Allan looks like Eric Burdon. i thought in the screen cap that someone had labeled this wrong. turns out i was wrong! there's no mistaking that fabulous Hollies harmony.
Anyone notice the lads were all either made to or they decided to dye their hair dark, perhaps they were thinking on the lines of if it worked for Elvis LOL
I have just made a post along those lines before I read your post about him looking old here. I used to watch the Hollies on TV as a child at the time and when he finally moved with the times and had the Beatle cut as they called it,I recall seeing them and thinking they had a new guitarist - he looked so much younger. He looks older here than on the 1981 Medley video. This isn't a knock at Graham though - he's a living legend!
Did you know that The Hollies where the second most successful singles Band in The Britih Charts during the 1960's. They didn't do to bad across the Atlantic but nowhere near the success in England.
Sorry. Did you know The Hollies where the second most successful singles Band in the UK singles chart during the 1960's. They didn't do to bad across the Atlantic but nowhere near the success they enjoyed in the United Kingdom.
It was released as a b side. The bside of stay.It was the time when bobby elliott took over as the hollies drummer and good thing he did.Bobby's the greatest drummer in the world.Ive seen the hollies live many times since 1993 even though i wasnt born in there hey day.
It may be Don Rathbone on drums, who played drums on the Hollies early singles. I wonder why they sped the music way up... but some very nice shots of the rest of the band.
Someone may have mentioned this before, but does it look like Graham Nash is not actually there. And, It seems to me like he is playing in front of a film of them playing for the shots that he IS in.

This song has a total Merseybeat anthem! Great song, too bad that the Beatles "Hard Days Night" movie was not colorized.

You can't hear it clearly in this recording, but if you listen (or hear a cleaner copy), pay attention to the bass line - it's out of this world!

This must be the only Hollies footage with Don Rathbone drumming (who left in June of 63) - Pre Bobby Elliott

mowbray99 3 years ago
Yes it is Don Rathbone, so this was probably filmed in 1963 but I think the film this was from (It's All Over Town) was released a year later.

Yes, this one does look older.

This was the era when they were really living up to the namesake they chose. Not bad, but I'm glad they changed with the times.

It looks silly that they get off their bikes, guitar in hand. Otherwise great early vid. of the Hollies.
