Whether or not you agree with the assertion that Global Warming is true is not the issue here. It's the ad hominem attacks by the caller that make me question whether global warming is real or not. Reasonable people can differ of this issue or others. But, it seems the "left" calls those they disagree with all the nasty names they want.
Sometime around then, Dennis absolutely came unglued on a similar caller. It was MAGNIFICENT, and I hope to find audio. I recall that the point in contention was the relative risk to humanity from 50 yrs future maybes vs real-world genocide and jihad right now. Dennis built to a roar, saying that even if the enviro-folks were correct in 95% of what they said, "IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME!"

The majority of peer reviewed studys from 1965-79 said there was going to be warming.

All of the gospels were written while eyewitnesses were still alive to correct or dispute them. 30 years ago would be like writing down now stories about the start of MTV, or the Carter Administration. Are you saying anything new written now about that era must be false?

@USAGymnast To answer your question I would say the reason they have those majors is because University type education is aimed at broad range of knowledge vs. technical college. You could look at it from a free market perspective like this: it helps us stay competitive globally. This helps against "Brain Drain" of important people who would pay taxes which would overall benefit us through competition and value added. You seem hard right. @MsZeitgeist85 I did some checking. 2009 had the highest recorded snowfall in USA ever, yet NASA also had the 2nd highest temperature reading ever. Really? So we have the highest temperatures w/ highest record of snow. Snow is caused by low temperatures in part, so frankly that doesn't make sense.

@USAGymnast To answer your question I would say the reason they have those majors is because University type education is aimed at broad range of knowledge vs. technical college. You could look at it from a free market perspective like this: it helps us stay competitive globally. This helps against "Brain Drain" of important people who would pay taxes which would overall benefit us through competition and value added. You seem hard right. The caller's whole rant was against Prager, so of course he answered. He also referenced leading climatologists like the leading scientist at MIT that disputed the AGW propaganda. Now it has been shown how bad the science claiming AGW (or, to be politically correct I suppose I should say ACC) was and that it ignored anything that didn't fit their hypothesis, and actively prevented publication of conflicting views by other established scientists. It is much more advantageous (money and grant wise) for a university scientist to embrace the pro-GW agenda than to take a science-based differing view. The head of climatology at MIT has taken a position against man-made GW. He has freedom to speak only because he no longer has to worry about getting tenure or padding his resume with government grants and endowments.

What we have been told is that humans drive climate and are responsible for the way climate behaves. That is patently false in every aspect. Science CAN become dogmatic at times and when it does it takes time to self correct. We must be open to evidence that counters prevailing views.
But this much is certain: A) CO2 is causing the ocean to become dangerously acidic. B) it does warm the planet, glaciers are melting. C) we cannot use the atmosphere as a garbage dump much longer anyway, alternatives are available.

Global warming is occuring and there is plenty of scientific evidence that the average temperature of the world is warming. As for the solving of the AIDS issue, that was solved by condoms and science (i.e. anti-retroviral medicines). Look at Africa and see the heterosexual spread of AIDS.
