hi hyperguy... silly question: so you actually use several buchlas to make this? or what is the "158" you mention above? or is it a single buchla 200 (looks a bit like the number 6 system proposed on the buchla site, right? or to which none does it correspond?? great, anyway!
@vakulintschuk Hi. Yes , in this video there are 2 different Buchla systems cross patched into one another. One is the 200e including modules of my own choosing. And the one on the right is an old Buchla 100 from about 1967. The "158" is the model number of the oscillator in the older system. Thank you for your comment!
like I had mentioned on my comment in the other video, Im not too certain of modular synths. Could you make a video of you going through the process of making sounds like this? If you dont already.
@ballyslapface You do not need a keyboard to be hooked up. You can if you like , but i prefer not to. The instrument produces the sound according to how you patch it up.
@rossuk123 doesn't "produce tracks live on set" brother.. he launches them using abelton and gives them a live polish by triggering loops and using effects over the original production. Its a much easier way to play live, some argue its cheating, I don't think so though, I think if you have the skill to make such incredible productions, you deserve not having to beat match etc with some annoying cdj's.
@rossuk123 and still that won't make him do anything more than mediocre electro-house shit. sorry to say but it's obviously just a waste of some awesome machine-power :((
@jamiabarnes11 its all a matter of opinion i guess...i happen to love his productions and he certainly has a gigantic following of crazy fans...but not everyone likes him
That's the thing though, he's the tip of the ice berg when it comes to generic electronic music. There are many other producers out there that are doing far more fresh things on more of a budget than he could possibly do. However, said producers are generally keeping low key.
Hi Hype!. tell me something, the thing on the left with all the lights, looks like the new buchla, and the one on the right with,no lights looks like a vintage buchla, what's the story with that, and how much will the buchla u have with the lights cost???.
I wish I knew how all this worked...:p

Hell yea! Very VERY nice patch! Really expresses the Buchla's signature unique sound qualities. Very very nice.

Sorta new to modulars here. What exactly does the Buchla arbitrary function module do (that circular, knobby one)?

should be hearing some sounds like this from deadmau5 soon!

what is deadmau5? excuse my ignorance :)
hyperguy61 2 years ago 24
he's an electro house producer and unique live performer (not dj he produces the tunes live on set) check out his website and you tube for his tunes!
On his blog he recently purchased 2 buchlas not sure which ones. but the import duty alone was $20,000 (canadian dollars)

@ozzlanda - agree with your point about live vs DJ-ing. You dont even need
to be able to beatmatch now if you dont want to with Traktor etc.
