@esh325 upgrade the extractor. The underpowered steel .223 probably couldn't cycle the heavier BCG. Milspec 5.56 and heavier match .223 run "hotter" an brass seals the chamber better then underpowered wolf. Id run the m16 carrier with bolt upgrade and bring a spare lighter buffer to fire out of spec ammo
@esh325 Personally I think the BCM bolt upgrade is best thing out there. I personally love Tula 154gr SP for my ak I also run silverbear jhp. As of now I'll only build with spikes,BCM,DD Noveske.
@esh325 preban, postban?what buffer comes stock with the hbar?what extractor spring 4 o 5 coil?Insert? O ring? Barrel chrome lined or stainless? Upgrading your extractor to a 5 coil black insert with crane o ring will solve extraction issues with steel. M16 style carrier or ar15 style that will effect what buffer to run. if your running an H3 try H2 or a T1. Personally I think the QC on te civi side of colt has fallen a bit.
@elox02 It's a post ban newly made rifle. It's chrome lined. I don't know what type of buffer it is. The type of buffer is not the issue I think. I put a Colt SP-1 bolt in it (AR15 bolt) and it was able to run steel cased ammo then. The stock bolt was a M16 bolt.
Usually "not always" but usually steel cased ammo is crap. Russian ammo is usually bimetal jacket and the steel case doesn't expand enough to "seal" the chamber. Dude I'm with ya I like all my ak variants. But a good tier 1 AR is my bread and butter. All of mine have been just as reliable as any of my aks, I believe modern 5.56 ammo is better ammo, I can walk to any shop here and get parts for ARs, and the ergos and options are better. But I'd still be confident with any ak variant I own (may h
@elox02 Wolf and Tula is crap steel cased ammo in my experience. I consider golden tiger and Brown bear ammo to be decent steel cased ammo. It's possible that my Colt has a defective extractor spring. Not 100% sure though.
@esh325 what buffer/buf spring/ extractor spring where you using? A properly set up AR should have have no problem running steel. Personally I don't like to it wears extractors faster on any rifle. I've run steel through at least 10 of the ARs I've built for myself and other people an have had non issues with it. I do run steel in my ak clones (over sized extractors) but if a cheep brass option came out I'd use that. With areal heavy buffer no an Ar won't cycle that under powered crap wolf/Tula
@Allante715 I've shot 1000 rds of m855 then moved to wolf 55gr crap and went another 500 or so rds. I had not one malfunction. Malfunctions with wolf are usually caused by under gased systems or a very heavy buffer. Wolf is under powered. Wolf doesn't expand and leaves a lot I carbon in the chamber along with almost no taper that will jam a gun when brass is used after steel. A good in spec AR/m16 will function just fine.
@elox02 It's really different with all AR15's. If you've shot more then one AR15 with steel cased ammo, you'll find not all of them will cycle it reliably. Even the quality ones. I've personally had a Colt 20 inch HBAR jam on steel where I've had others work fine. Virtually every single AK out there will run steel cased ammo. The same can't be said for the AR15.
It can jam every time depending on ammunition used. M16s/ARs are very picky about ammo choices. Steel cased ammunition such as those made by Wolf are dirty and can foul up a chamber fairly quickly. Not a real big deal as long as you clean the rifle. But M16s are just more picky than other nameless rifles in the world today.
Certainly not junk, they just require alot of tender loving care, just like a women.
it jammed in the 60's ok. it no longer has that problem and it is one of the most widely used assault riffles in the U.S. military, so those who say it sucks are just talking based on video games not real life battles
The "it jams everytime" comment tells those who have actually used the M16/AR15 for an extended period of time exactly how much knowledge or lack of knowledge certain people have.
@dgl1962 You sir, said it better than I could've. The M16 platform is actually pretty reliable in will work in any condition as long as you maintain it. And it's not like a tank either, where you clean it for a week then use it for a day. A few weekly cleanings, or even a couple, will suffice.
@dgl1962 There is no reason not to oil your magazines so long as you clean them later. I did it all the time on the steel 7.62x39 mags I used to have.
What were the brand of manufacture that the magazines jammed on you, and were they coated aluminum magazines?
@dgl1962 absolutely, also the M16 needs more care than other rifles its a very accurate, leightweighted rifle with good stopping power and,in my opinion still the best assault rifle available,in my opinion the greatest problem with the XM16E1 was just the bad ammo, which was given out to the fighting forces
@SgtPepper271294 Another area where the M16 is great is in its in-line design which allows the shooter to fire on automatic with excellent accuracy due to limited muzzle climb.
I could fire most of a 30 rd mag into a car door at 100 feet on automatic with an M16, but it would be more difficult to do that with an AK or especially a .308 like the FN (which I love!) on auto.
Let's face it, it isn't the power of the round, it's whether you can place it on target that counts.
@dgl1962 Hello DGL. I did my time in the mid to late 90's. The only problems I ever saw with any M-16 was when a recruit over lubed it. It was having FTF and FTE and later caught on fire - what a dumb ass. In the early 2000's I had a Bushmaster I had over 1,000 rounds in before cleaning, on purpose. Today I have a Delton I built on a Spike's lower and it does great in drills and baby powder tests. The AR is way more reliable than most think, and the AK is more accurate than most think.
@AlienZygote010 I'm surprsied that he'd have a FTF with too much lube, & I can't understand how it would catch on fire since we were limited to slow fire at the range in P.I.
That's a good way to put it "the AR is more reliable & the AK is more accurate than most think"
@dgl1962 It's more complicated then chambers not being chrome lined or ball powder. A lot of rifles in history used ball powder and didn't have chrome lined bores, but were reliable.
@esh325 Those reliable rifles tended to be 30.06 (Garand & BAR), or .308 (Springfield M14) which use a larger, heavier case that tends to cycle better than the smaller .223
There was also an issue with the case hardness for the newly designed .223 (it was too soft) which meant the shells expanded too much making them stick inside the chambers (which were rusty prior to chroming) as well.
Truth is I like the M16A1 (M16) instead if the M16A2 even though the M16 was unlike beyond soilders when the M16 was made and released. Yet it's recoil in the video looked little bit hard too control besides but I still like it for it's bottom flat barrel which I think is more useful to hold instead of a fatish barrel
@turkeyforever100 All guns "heats up like hell".Tell me about the second M16 they showed. Its a "LMG" model that shoots from a open bolt,if you even know what I mean. Its made not to "heat up like hell".
@profsat5 i heard that m16 heateds so much that you cant even touch it if you fire it and chew all the ammo and its the worst weapon america has ever made stick with a true rifle hkg3
@profsat5 Thats the problem, you said it yourself that "you heard".Your 15 years old,on your channel. You have no experience with any type of firearm.I was in the military long before you were born. After you have become an adult, went into the military, which by the way your country purchased M16's in the 80's,90's and until present day plus the M203.Then you might know a little about weapons. All guns heat up.I have a G3A3 that heats up and will jam.You have to keep all weapons clean.
@idricool yes I admit it I Don't know the difference but it's because I'm fucking 13. "redneck cow molester" wow what a funny comment faggot. Your the fucking molester picking on a 13 year old because he can't tell the difference between asian languages....asshole...
The M16A1 Was A Atrocious Weapon in the Vietnam War.The Ball Powder Mixture was changed,And No cleaning rods were issued. The M16 Was Entirely unsuited to the bullet It was firing. After The Issues were fixed,It was a good weapon.
If you want to learn the real deal behind the M16 there's a section about the rifle in "The Gun" by C.J. Chivers. It was not 1 particular thing that caused the M16's disasterous introduction during Nam. It was; building the rifles without chrome lined chambers&barrels, loading the rifles with dirty burning propellant which caused carbon build-up, not maintaining the rifle with regular cleaning-in fact, not cleaning it at all. Pre-1970 ( year) built M16s are crap, those built after that r good.
@oeyesea The French had been fighting in Indochina for 8 years, and none of their rifles had chrome lined barrels. They used ball powder too I believe.
The M16A2/M-4 series are good rifles ! They have saved my life in combat, the M16A1 saved my uncles lives in Vietnam too . I would never trade them it for any other rifle . I have shot Panamanian PDF and Hadjis with it with no problems of dropping them dead with one shot .EXCELLENT RIFLES !
@hercludes you're just saying that because you read it in Max Brooks Zombie Survival Guide. I saw that part about adjusting sights too. That's not even correct so don't pull something off of some book you read and act like you know what your talking about.
@BlasterSteve18 i love max brooks, but i have to acept he doesnt know a shit aobut firearms, he recomends the m1 carabine, my god, my grand father served with that thing, and he always say "small, ligth and cool looking, but a certain death if you have to face someone with a decent rifle"
@hercludes welcome to being one of the worlds dumbest people...the m16a1 is a very good weapon...it was the switch from stick powder to ball powder that made the rifle jam in vietnam.....you apperantly don't know a thing about rifles.
@usmc2076 Wait a minute. I didn't even say much at all, and you're jumping to conclusions? You can't even use grammar properly, let alone call someone else a kid.
I was wondering if anybody could give some background of these tapes. Like, what they're called and when they were made. Was it a series of some kind?
@ilovetippy667 The M60 has been phased out by the M240G, which was my weapon when I was in the Marines. I'm not sure if every 240 in my company was a piece of crap due to our bad luck or if the weapon itself is crap. But from what I have gathered from every M60 gunner I have spoken with the M60 is superior in every way but range and weight. Personally I'd rather have a weapon that I can trust will fire when I need it to rather than cross my fingers and hope.
@ilovetippy667 The M16A2 however is much more reliable as long as it is well maintaned. Would I want it in the open desert over the AK47? Hell yes, it's range is far superior. In the jungle where you only have 50m of visibility anyway? No way.
@curseofa5r5a It's accuracy as well... The AK74 has improved on this by going to a lower caliber 5.56 which has lead to lighter recoil (and faster target acquisition), better accuracy, and greater range. Kalashnikov claims it is comparable to the M16 in all of the following and superior in reliability. I can't speak to that, I've never fired one.
@RichAnderson114 i was talking about the ak 47 not 74, and yes the full automatic accuracy of the ak 74 quite good, the 5,45 had less recoil than the 5,56 and the rifle is equiped with a very efective muzzle brake, about the single shot accuracy and range, i really doubt it, there one guy making comparisons of both rifles, (i wish i could give you the channel) the AK 74 is sighly less accurated than the ar 15 at long ranges, but it has better penetration and as some claim better stoping power
@futurerev21 Normal operation. The bolt cycling bumps the notch in the center of the dust cover in either chambering a round or after manual closing of the cover.
@ArcRaven13 M4s/M16s are just different configurations of the AR-15 family and instead of being semi-automatic, they're select fire. The rifling isn't different lulz. It is either 1:7 twist (which is the best), 1:8, or 1:9. And you can get any barrel length you want, as long as you register it as an SBR it if it under 16 inches, or you perm attach a flash hider to the barrel to increase the barrel to legal length.
@futurerev21 The AR15 is the name of the original rifles made by the armalite company. When the military adopted the rifle, they became known as the M16 and the M4 (the M4 is the carbine version). The civilian models are still called the AR15.

I trained on the A1 in Parris Island (1983), about 6 months later, the Marines adopted the A2.
Before enlisting I used to think that the M16 was no good (from the rumors), then I used it and was nailing targets at 500 yds with no malfunctions.
Yes, it had some problems in Vietnam in 65 due to the chambers not being chromed (and ball powder), but the bugs have been worked out.
Here's the bottom line folks, those that say the AR15/M16 is junk don't know what they're talking about.

Pre-1970 ( year) built M16s are crap, those built after that r good.
oeyesea 4 months ago

@hercludes So I suppose there's a real good reason why the US military still uses it and the majority of the worlds militery organizations. Lol
Lysanderfication 5 months ago
@hercludes welcome to being one of the worlds dumbest people...the m16a1 is a very good weapon...it was the switch from stick powder to ball powder that made the rifle jam in vietnam.....you apperantly don't know a thing about rifles.

metalhed1337 3 months ago
@metalhed1337 No army has used the AK-47 contionously for 64 years. AKM is what most armies use which came out in 1959.

@esh325 True. Idea I had in mind was the base design weapons. But consider the AKM: 52 years of service...

I thought this rifle was pretty cool until my grandpa said it got alot of people killed lucky for him he had a good ole M60
ilovetippy667 6 months ago
@ilovetippy667 because the rifle exploded?
Stijning 6 months ago
@Stijning Early M16's had quite a bit of problems. Such as it had a tendency to jam, alot.
mazew5 6 months ago
@mazew5 well that sucks when you're in combat and charlie is all around you..
Stijning 6 months ago
@ilovetippy667 The M60 has been phased out by the M240G, which was my weapon when I was in the Marines. I'm not sure if every 240 in my company was a piece of crap due to our bad luck or if the weapon itself is crap. But from what I have gathered from every M60 gunner I have spoken with the M60 is superior in every way but range and weight. Personally I'd rather have a weapon that I can trust will fire when I need it to rather than cross my fingers and hope.
RichAnderson114 6 months ago
@ilovetippy667 The M16A2 however is much more reliable as long as it is well maintaned. Would I want it in the open desert over the AK47? Hell yes, it's range is far superior. In the jungle where you only have 50m of visibility anyway? No way.
RichAnderson114 6 months ago
@RichAnderson114 the ak 47 range is in fact inferior to all 5.56 plattaforms including the m16/m4
curseofa5r5a 4 months ago
@curseofa5r5a It's accuracy as well... The AK74 has improved on this by going to a lower caliber 5.56 which has lead to lighter recoil (and faster target acquisition), better accuracy, and greater range. Kalashnikov claims it is comparable to the M16 in all of the following and superior in reliability. I can't speak to that, I've never fired one.
RichAnderson114 4 months ago
@RichAnderson114 i was talking about the ak 47 not 74, and yes the full automatic accuracy of the ak 74 quite good, the 5,45 had less recoil than the 5,56 and the rifle is equiped with a very efective muzzle brake, about the single shot accuracy and range, i really doubt it, there one guy making comparisons of both rifles, (i wish i could give you the channel) the AK 74 is sighly less accurated than the ar 15 at long ranges, but it has better penetration and as some claim better stoping power

m16a1 has full auto? wtf i thought it was a 3 rd.
futurerev21 7 months ago
@futurerev21 a simple way to remember.
M16A1/M16/M16A3(less known)/AR-15= fully automatic
M16A2/M16A4= 3rd burst
ArcRaven13 7 months ago
@ArcRaven13 whats the difference between ar 15 and m4?
futurerev21 7 months ago
@futurerev21 barrel length mostly, maybe the rifleing. The AR-15 is the civilian version of the M16/M4 family
ArcRaven13 7 months ago
@ArcRaven13 thats what i thought, its just a civilian version. yet all the ppl i know that own ar's say theyre m4s, even my friend thats a cop.
futurerev21 7 months ago
@ArcRaven13 M4s/M16s are just different configurations of the AR-15 family and instead of being semi-automatic, they're select fire. The rifling isn't different lulz. It is either 1:7 twist (which is the best), 1:8, or 1:9. And you can get any barrel length you want, as long as you register it as an SBR it if it under 16 inches, or you perm attach a flash hider to the barrel to increase the barrel to legal length.

@KalashnikovKid762 k but i wasnt saying anything about them being different rifling.

@futurerev21 That was what ArcRaven13 said who I responded to.
KalashnikovKid762 7 months ago
@ArcRaven13 no it's the other way around
blacksuite1 7 months ago
@futurerev21 The AR15 is the name of the original rifles made by the armalite company. When the military adopted the rifle, they became known as the M16 and the M4 (the M4 is the carbine version). The civilian models are still called the AR15.
EnigmaHood 6 months ago
@ArcRaven13 AR-15 is semi-auto?
TheMooseofBattle 7 months ago
@TheMooseofBattle The basic civilian version is. There are also a fully automatic AR15s but that requires licenses and stuff like that.
ArcRaven13 7 months ago
@futurerev21 The m16a1 could only fire in semi or full auto, the other m16 variants can do that too, but they also have a 3 rd burst function.
TheMooseofBattle 7 months ago
@TheMooseofBattle The A2 and A4 only have 3rd burst and semi auto, no full auto.
