Well to be fair Twilight isn't the only terrible movie that messed up classic monsters. In fact I've been annoyed with alot of tv shows and movies nowadays trying to either make something like Twilight to cash-in on it's success or try to better it or make an action movie out of them like Van Helsing or Blade. I like the 19th century type vampires and monsters far more. Their scarier. Coffins, bats, wolves, crawling on walls etc. I want that. Not a teenager or a CGI monster.

Dracula was supposed to resemble a kind of seductive gentleman but it was never about nude, well built supermodels falling in love and sparkling in the sun. Everything evolves but horror films just get worse the more they reenvision the original ideas. I joked a while ago about zombie love stories but I heard they've done that now too. Rediculous

Exactly. Just look at what Gerard Butler did to Dracula and the Phantom of the Opera for example. While I guess for the female audience he had the seductive thing down alright, but compared to Bela Lugosi, Max Schreck, and Christopher Lee as Dracula and Lon Chaney and Michael Crawford as the Phantom he made their characters look pathetic in the horror sense.

Nosferatu, The Golem, Lon Chaney in Phantom of the Opera and 1931 Dracula with Bela Lugosi are the gold standards when it comes to German Expressionism horror films.

Nothing comes else comes even close. I think because of the lack of technology at the time directors didn't intrude on the horror with special effects.
