  • why is he using a closed face reel? and the wrong way lol

  • is this by the swing bridge in minnesota?

  • Whys he walking backwards? just use the rod

  • nice flathead iv seen them but never hooked one my self but hope to see how i do in the winter to i have always bank fished a few times on a boat but just started fishing so good luck on hooking a big one

  • what bait did you use?

  • where on the mississippi are you? i catch little fuckers all the time and never anything like that

  • That is a good size. If you want a bigger one, come to central nextas in lake LBJ

  • You think thats huge..........HAHAHAHAHA there are catfish in the mississippi that are larger than a freakin BEAR

  • i get catfish at 75 pounds guys ill put it on my youtube!!

  • @1997Hunt i'd love to see that! send me the link!

  • @galyn30 ok got to make a video bro! i will

  • LOL you cannot tell from the video but what inexperienced big fish anglers do not know is that he is holding that cat's mouth so tight right there that if he were holding your hand he would break every bone in your fingers.

  • itsnot a spining reel

  • I have been on that beach pretty big ass fish

  • Isnt this river a dead zone ?

  • tht things a monster!

  • Nice catty.

  • thats 30bucks rod and reels. i have same, not bad for that.

  • ha holding rod upside down, walking back and forth, not keeping the rod tip up, horsing the hell out it. your lucky to have gotten it in must have been hard when reelling backwards the whole time. you know you can probably switch the handle to the other side.

  • @amhouston2520 Post the video of yourself reeling one of these lunkers in, and you'll have our attention. Time to put up or shut up.

  • ha i like how you are holding the rod upside down

  • what part of the river was this?

  • holy dog I bet that fish has been in the lake a very long time

  • lol soooo many reasons that fish should hav never been landed...holding the reel upside down, horsing it, pointing the rod tip down....lol

  • How the hell can the guy reel in clockwise??? Must be so damn difficult..

  • Bout a 30 pounder, Flatheads always look bigger than they are because of the huge heads. It goes the other way with blues and channels, they always look smaller than they are. Either way, it's a rare catch on a rod and reel! Good Job!

  • I've been fishing pool 2 with no luck so far. How do you know where to cast or how far?

  • @TheMinnesotaNice basic fish hunting skills are necessary...you need to know where they like to hang out. Normally you'll find a lot of catfish along breaks in the current, especially at the bottom of dam's. They also love structure, so whatever you can find in the water like a submerged tree or rock piles. Cast into those areas. You can also cast into the channel with enough weight on your rig to keep it stable. Also catfish are pretty much out of season for now, good luck catching them.

  • fucking white people get hard from this shit!!!! straight hard on for fishing what they have fucking faggets

  • fucking white people get hard from this shit!!!! straight hard on for fishing what they have

  • @FishboiFishboi cut pieces 2 to 3 inches long.

  • @galyn30 oh ok. thanks. Ill be sure to try that

  • awww.. you dropped your reel in the dirt...

  • you keep it?

  • damn thats a big cat

  • what lb test do u recommend?i dont catch fish that big but i was thinking about using maybe 10 lb line? what do u think

  • @xXksepwnsXx How big of fish are you fishing for?

  • @ImSeanF well i caught a 27 inch catfish last night im guessing it was MAYBE 10 lbs idk but i have no clue how big the cats get around my area

  • @xXksepwnsXx well as long as your drag is set right on your reel, 10 pound test mono can catch a 15 pound catfish. A 15 pound test can catch 20 pounders.

Use monofilament line with low-medium drag. In murkier water a heavier pound line would be wiser as lines that have a bigger pound test are more visible underwater.

  • @ImSeanF yeah well i went to my local fishing shop and all they have are reels that hold6-10lb line...does it matter if i put a lil bigger line on a reel like that?i was thinkng maybe 12 lb ill be good maybe even 12 lb spider wire

  • @xXksepwnsXx Spiderwire is usually braided line. You want monofilament.

I would recommend Berkley Triline 14 lb test in green.

Monofiliament lets the line stretch a little, braided does not

  • @ImSeanF

  • @ImSeanF oh ok would it matter if i use 14 lb line with a reel that says to use 6 to 10 lb on it???

  • @xXksepwnsXx Nope, it shouldn't make any difference. may I ask what reel you are planning to buy?

  • Comment removed

  • small bluegills or chubs for big flats.

  • nice one dude, where did you go?

  • Heck yeah! Nice catch! I have always heard catfish in the Mississippi River were huge. What state are you in? Looks like Tennessee? The bridge in the far back ground looks like that of West Memphis crossing into Memphis...

  • how long did it take to reel it in?

  • @ericsavoy1 25 minutes

  • @galyn30 oh anyways nice catch, like 5 times the size i catch over here

  • i find cut up chicken liver works great i remeber one time me and my dad cuaght so many fish we had to disiced witch catfish we wanted to keep cuz we had so many and we where over our limit lol so we had to throw some back all dicent size 2 i think we caught one 20 pounder the rest where like 5 or 3 but still pretty dicsent size

  • probably a 40 pounder

  • "holy fuck!" lol...how many pounds was the cat?

  • @xxaimpiratexx no scale at that time. we asume around 40 lbs

  • @galyn30 i thing you are the high side there looks more around 30 to 35 not 40 just but the fact the the gut on it was not all that big so you might have hooked a fish that was or just did get done spawning.

  • i use some sort of dough covered in chicken blood for catfsih bait.

  • st paul mn :)

  • for cat fish bait, the stinker the better...

  • @RangersAirsoft Not for Flatheads, they prefer live bait.

  • @XA2I3RX well i use stinky bait on the mississippi and do fine catching cat fish so i dont think it makes that big of a differance

  • @RangersAirsoft Depends on what type of fish you're trying to catch, there are a LOT of different cat fish species and different ones prefer different baits. The one in this vid is a flathead cat and they prefer live bait as opposed to stink baits, not saying you wont catch a flat from time to time, but you're more than likely NOT going to catch anything big unless you use live bait.

  • hey what area of st. paul was this at? i'm from st. paul too.

  • all i say is dont eat a whole lot of that unless if you want to be as loony as the mad hatter. (mercury poisoning)

  • dang what did yu use for bait???

  • Dude he looks like chumlee from pawn stars

  • dude! is that Chumlee from pawn stars? lol JK

  • wht is he holding it upside down(the reel)

  • dude i got the same rod haha yea dont hate zebcos i like em cuz they dont back lash i can use open faced and baitcasters i jus like zebcos tho

  • dang u just one armed it nice fish

  • caught on a fuckin' Zebco!!!

  • y was this person using the reel upside down?

  • @6000Teresa its ovious hes lefthanded

  • @6000Teresa lol i did not even notice that untill i read your comment but it is a closed face real and most reals like that you can not move the handle to the other side and he is left handed (well i am assuminng he is)

  • @6000Teresa yes. obviously not a professional. LOL

  • where can you buy bait like what you used?

  • @651mikey Its just cut up sucker minnows.

  • @galyn30 ok...thanks!

  • @651mikey honest to god, you can use damn near anything for catfish anywhere...i have had much success and still use osacr mayer wieners, just use like 1/4 of one per hook

  • @LURKSS ya hot dogs work good but i use. old catfish bait mixed with wheaties, spray cheese in a can, and cottonballs mix it up. It works really good.

  • wat state was this in

  • @pinoybro09 st paul mn

  • @SHACKBASH

  • that a shakespere tiger from walmart...there only $20 but believe it or not they are great rods for $20 I use to use them for channel cats in the mo river and i used my bait casters for the big ones on my good rod!!!
