This world seems to elevate those who can't take or deal with any real degree of wealth or power to unheard of heights literally overnight...only to have them come crashing down twice as fast as their mysterious rise to the top ever was. Is Tyson even mentally aware anymore that he once stood atop the mountain? Does it even matter?

I was here a few years ago with a couple friends. Shortly after we made our rounds through the house we were met by the Southington Sheriff's Department. After they checked our ID's we took a tour with them to make sure the area was "secure". The house was remarkably intact with very few signs of vandalism.

this house was abandoned because the guy who was selling it made a deal with a undercover agent who kept trying to make him a deal over some diamonds or something and he finally said ok. i forget the whole story but the house kind of is abandoned but no one can buy it. it is being watched by the police, i live a hour from it and talked to one of the first people in it that photographed the place. you cant go to it because theres no where to park, if you park in front police will know your there.

This house is not abandoned anymore btw. It was sold on December 5 2011. People moved into it and its almost fully renovated. But the pool is re filled and its clean lol. But the mansion was sold for 900,000 or something like that. But the new owners said it will be 4.0 if they ever do sell it.

Its crazy because I live right down the road from this house in the next town over and the only reason he ever lived here was cuz his trainor lived down the road, he abandoned it because he went bankrupt and his wife was leaving him, neither of them even wanted this house and now after about 12 yrs the bank still cant sell it cuz they want 3 million for it, nobody wants to live here anyways let alone dropping millions on a house in our town of 400 especially when it needs 100 grand to makeitnice

I worked security at this house in 1989-90 when I worked for TCSO. I was there when they built the huge indoor pool...you can't drain it will cave in...water keeps pressure against the sides and prevents cave-in. As for why in Trumbull County??? Don and Henriette King were his trainers/owners...training camp was in Orwell in Astabuhla Co not far from Southington. Also close to The Flats in Cleveland where he liked to party. Saw limos in and out of this place all the time taking him up there...

Of the handful of people who can afford to buy this house, most would not care for the decor or layout. For the same money, they could build from scratch exactly what they want. Despite the condition of the house and grounds, this is probably why it has not sold. This is the story with many custom, high end homes, they are just too extreme for others to appreciate.

I think one of the reasons this place is abandoned, is because Mike Tyson no longer has that kind of money. (What's that old saying, about a fool and his money?)

I'm sure when his personal corporation went bankrupt, he defaulted on the mortgage. So now, the estate is tied up in legal red tape, with a dozen creditors all wanting a piece of it, without clear title, and unable to be sold.

That said, "zebra carpeting"? Tacky, Mike. Really tacky.
