@batman5224 I strongly believe you are entitled to your opinion. But, POTO ends with his magical disappearance and on a minor chord. That's a musical question mark. That sets it up perfectly for a sequel. Sorry you don't feel that way because it is the best music ALW has written to date. Had you seen it, you might agree. Without seeing it, you'll never know. And just hearing the music, you'll never know what happens in those magical, musical interludes. Sad.
@batman5224 your right i would have to see it to truely judge it. theirs one thing that i dont understand though. is the boy in this the phantoms son? if he is i dont see how that is possible.
@batman5224 Listen to "Beneath a Moonless Sky." And yes, he is the Phantom's son. My question is, how does Christine know this? I assume she slept with Raoul on her wedding night (that'd be the night after she saw Erik), so how can she say for sure whose son it is? I mean, why couldn't Raoul have produced a musical prodigy? Another plot hole hastily skimmed over.
@siseo05 if she slept with Erik that would totally ruin the tragedy of the phantom of the opera. there are way to many plot holes here. plus this actor they picked to play the phantom is not old enough to play a older phantom. plus he does not have a very strong voice. yes he can sing but hes to generic. i dont mind a sequel to the phantom of the opera but this sequel lets face it, has way too many problems in story and casting.
@batman5224 Guess the tragedy's ruined, then. I don't think LND was an atrocity, but continuations of POTO are something best left to fanfiction, IMO. And I hated what they did to Raoul's character. As a writer who's also very bitchy about characterization, no way in hell does that sweet, charming POTO!Raoul become a drunken gambler who doesn't even have time for his own son. But then I guess I wouldn't have Devil Take the Hindmost.
@siseo05 : Agreed. I think I would even like LND if it was a stand-alone musical or even if it left if up to the viewer as whether or not it was a sequel. It's actually a pretty good story, but I just don't want it connected to my beloved characters that I've already characterized in my mind.
@batman5224 all those plot holes disappear when one considers that perhaps that perhaps this was intended more a s a sequel to the FILM version... where Christine is around 17 or 18 and the phantom is in his 20's. therefore 10 years later Christine would be around 27 making the age of the Love never dies Christine just about right!
(or at the very least they did this on purpose to make it easier to adapt into a theatrical film...)
I only discovered this song when I watched an interview with the current Christine in the West End and found out it's her favourite to sing! :) It's beyond beautiful, may attempt it for my next cover. Please do check out my cover of Love Never Dies and give me some feedback Phantom phans! Cheers <3 much love

why make a sequel to the phantom of the opera? its not the kind of story that requires one. the original was perfect lets leave it at that.

They both have amazing voices, I saw them live in May and they were really, really good.
By the way, can we be sure they are NOT dating? I mean, look at the pics!
Oh but then, maybe they are just very close friends...
