  • Come on thats not true. Most profesoinal athalet are not broken down when he stops competing. He just cant compet on a profesional leveal. In stead of bench pressing 500 lb he can only do 300lb, instead of runing a 4 second flat 40 yard dash. He can only do it in 8 or 10 second. The same is so with a karate guy when young and an expert instead of doing 300 to 500 push ups he can only do 250/ 300 push ups due to a sholder injury. This guy would be taken apart buy most pro athaleate.

  • Dude first of all he's 86 years old. To even obtain that type of flexibility and movement at that age is amazing in itself.

Second of all internal styles isn't all about form practice. They have partner training, they have sparring, and etc.

If you need a example look up Lou de xiu.

The thing is 90% of the time you'll see a fake master.

think about it this way. How often will you see a good karate school here? Maybe a little more often but they aren't super good either.

  • thank you! that was amazing to watch. 84 years old!

  • Thats the sad thing, to your typical CMA, or even any sort of martial art practicioner, this performance might seem like nothing special, perhaps even bad. But IMA is all about the subtleties..and this guy has got it.

  • I would like to see a champion of UFC at 84, and I would be surprised if he could walk without a limp.

  • They're pretty fit as well hawkeye. They're at the extreme of brute physical experimentation though.

  • No, they are broken down. They are like NFL players, or Muay Thai fighters. They are physically in pain every day by the age of 45. Obviously there are exceptions, but a MMA master against a Chen Taichi master at 60 years of age will not end up good for the MMA guy

  • Taijichuan and Baguazhang have the same results... If you were knowledgeable in these arts you would know that. All three Baguazhang, Taijichuan, and Xingyiquan are beneficial to the body and secondly baguazhang has more of a fighting aspect too. The baguazhang practitioner would be as healthy and possibly better and more versatile then the Taijichuan master at age 60.

  • is this a reply to my statement? If it is, it makes no sense. I threw one of the three internal arts as a point, saying at 60, an internal master is stronger than the UFC fighters are at that age. You basically agreed, then called me stupid. Appreciate ya.

  • No. It was not a reply to you specifically. To everyone. It got slightly confusing.

  • My teacher was training with Sha Laoshi (he was very old already) when he was visited by Karatekas from Japan. They had heard Sha Lao was a great master (he was an official 'national treasure' of China) but were perhaps skeptical after witnessing footage of his performances. Two threw attacks and were soundly defeated in quick order. The rest of the visitors didn't bother trying. They realised they were far inferior in skill to this quiet old man with strangely soft Bagua movements.

  • This is the real deal...notice how he understands stepping "empty/full" and is always grounded....generates real power. Real Bagua is not as pretty as the flowery running around wushu type stuff I see so much of. Nice!

  • Cool name of concept

  • Excellent
