@Jimster481 It's a gas turbine engine - essentially a jet engine, although the turbine here isn't using the exhaust gases for thrust like in a straight jet airplane - the turbo's central shaft is turning a gearbox & transmitting the power out that way, like a helicopter, which is where they sourced the Rolls Royce Allison engine from.
@robertgadau He didn't smoke the GTR.... GTR ran a flat 7, whilst the Mini ran a 7.4. The respective trap speeds were 103 for GTR and 100 for the Cooper.
1) This is 1/8th mile. You can tell by the trap speeds (MPH). I think this MINI w/ Jet engine went something like 10.7 in the 1/4.
2) The MINI uses the stock engine configuration in the front; motor, tranney, FWD, etc. IN addition to that, it has a Corvette rear axle which is driven by the jet engine. Two completely separate systems acting in one vehicle.
wow awesome but it seems the front wheels didn`t actually distribute the power to the road like the back does...i know in the back there`s much more weight than in the front....but i don`t really understand how the transmission is made...and it has actually both of the engines..the original + the chopper engine?
Pretty cool, so the helicopter engine is actually driving the rear wheels? I only mostly see jet-engine cars that actually use the thrust ... plus this is 8th of a mile right? What does it do in the 1/4?
Now do it to an old mini cooper 1275!!! :D

Shades of the turbine engined VW bug drag racer in the late '60s. Speed to burn!

@scrfce123 and gtr use 400gallons less of fuel! :D

@scrfce123 no he didn't cause the turbine needs to spool up but yet in top speed he would. now imagine a 600hp electric motor instant torque!!!! :)
minimaluhftv 1 month ago
@minimaluhftv That would be fucking awesome, they use 200 hp electric motors for some serious electrics, 600 hundred would be awesome.

This isn't a quarter mile is it? Cause 7 seconds for a standard GT-R is damn fast!
