I remember reading about this in the local newspapers and just reading about the artwork sounded impressive. I never got to see the real deal but the fact that all these reactionaries protested the art shows how little of a discussion there even was between the two opposing feelings on the artwork.
ok mr. jivey so lets sensor every individuals creativity. Reason being: any art created could possibly depict a violent act towards a politician. if that was the case u couldnt hand off you 10$ to your local regal cinema to view your image of acceptable "VIOLENT ART"
God bless Bob Mirch. You want to blow up my president, he shuts you down, using the law of the land.
This "artist's" agenda is not free speech or to get you to think, but to plant the seed in some weak-minded person to kill the president and start chaos.
If this exhibit was against Obama or FDR, I would want it shut down!
OK, now that some time has passed and we have a different group in office, I would like to ask what I feel is a reasonable question. If Barack Obama were to be depicted in the same exact manner, would you all react in the same manner?
Waffa is an extremely intelligent, thoughtful and sensitive artist - to all of those who are not taking the time to actually SEE his exhibit - why not just open your minds to this new kind of ANTI-terrorist response. The anger you are feeling is really anger against terrorism, not anger against the exhibit. The exhibit is supposed to make you feel unsettled and and to make you question the norm. All great art looks beyond the obvious - Wafaa doesn't actually want to kill Bush, obviously!
What a sad display of unAmericanism the protest was. It's no wonder the Republicans got it handed to them in November. Americans are sick of this nonsense.
Freedom of speech means the freedom to disagee and express oneself freely without discrimination.
This is only artwork created by a peaceful individual who wishes to express himself and generously share his gift with others. Shall we start burning books next?
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
A protest is planned right in front of City Hall Tuesday March 18 at 5:30pm. Please come and show your support for free speech and the arts in Troy, and speak out against the corruption evident in Mr. Mirch's recent actions. FREE TROY!!!
Salman Rushdie said:"If you cannot defend what to you is unpalatable, then you do not believe in free speech. You only believe in the free speech of those who agree with you."It is one thing to protest against something, that is a clear right however it is quite another to misuse ones power as a public servant to silence the speech of others.I have a feeling Bob Mirch is going to discover this when he faces a suit for using his public office to deny a citizen their civil rights.
Nice, who wants to live in a police state, raise your hand. Suppressing artistic freedom was one of the first actions taken by Hitler and Mao. The masses are distracted by the picture and oblivious to the message.
Once again people cannot apply to themselves the standards they apply to others. This art exhibition is a mod of the game quest for Saddam which let you kill all the brown people you wanted. there was no outrage. All this guy did this just change the models from brown to white . Looks like i will have to repeat what free of speech means. Freedom of speech means your in favor of freedom of speech for the views you hate.everyone is in favor of speech they like. even hitler stalin pol pot etc

Awesome! Go Mirch! No to home grown jihadi terror! Muslims in the USA like him are further driving a wedge between them and the rest of America, proof that they have no desire to assimilate or become American.
You mean the whole story? RPI Republicans silenced and no one cares. Their web site taken down, all local press informed. No one printed this important fact, no one. Metroland, Troy Record, Times Union, AM590, 810 WGY, 1300 TALK. No one speaks for them not even those who have rallied for free speech in Troy speak about the RPI Republicans being silenced.
There's a think line between freedom of speech and being a complete and utter retard (PC Mentally Challenged Americans). If you want to be informal to the public...be smart and cover both halves of the story.
Asking a liberal to be smart is like asking a Muslim to show courage on the battlefield. You can ask, but it strongly recommended that you not hold your breath waiting for the desired outcome.
Proof positive that you haven't bothered to learn anything about the exhibit itself. It's about the effect of U.S. involvement on terrorist recruitment in the Middle East, NOT about "assassination of the president", as the idiot in the video claimed.
This is censorship by the city government of Troy, and selective code enforcement, end of story.

What about the free speech of those that were protesting? Isn't it unpalatable to you?

I think Waffle Boy needs a trip to Club Gitmo so he can experience a tropical retreat from the stresses of virtual jihad.
