Niccce, it's just like my style in the sense that it uses the principle of "Pangainoon", meaning-half hard/half soft. Awesome. I do Uechi Ryu Okinawan Karate, it came from China from Master Shushiwa, and he taught Master Kanbun Uechi who made a few changes in the stance and maybe a few other modifications, and he brought his knowledge back to Okinawa.. Great video.
Looks more like a form called Gung Li Chuan, from Northern Shoalin...with some different variables..Training for Power and Spirit. Just my observation from the Gung Li Chaun I leaned 36 years ago.
for those of you complaining about the sound, just turn your volume settings to the right side or left side, depending on who you want to hear, and problem solved...
@WingChunGeologist its a type of method to employ in fighting. Its spread across many styles and can look quite different, many masters perfected their own versions. But the exact history of it and its development i dont know :)
@TaizuChanQuan There are 2 Shi Yongxin's? This definitely doesn't look like the present Abbot of Shaolin just do a google search and look at the images. besides, the current abbot doesn't actually know kung fu. he just meditates and plays politics all over china and the world...
nice flawless technical demonstration. However, it would have been great to see someone with similar technical skills who was able to express-fah jing- express some explosive power to bring the form alive. too bad.
I think at the higher levels the internal and external styles combine. thus the external stylist learn to use internal power and vice versa. but hey what do i know point is it was a very nice form done by someone with skill. very nicely done
Sān Huáng Pào Chuí ( literally "Three Emperor Cannon Punch") is a Chinese martial art attributed to the Three August Ones: Fuxi, Shennong, and Gonggong. The spread of Pào Chuí was due in part to its early association with Shaolin. Pào Chuí was one of the earliest styles to be imported intact into the martial arts curriculum at the Shaolin Monastery. According to legend, the Shaolin monks learned Pào Chuí from a martial artist of Mount Emei. (wikipedia)
Shaolin - INTERNAL?!?!?!? I though it was just because the old guys I saw on YouTube are based on Taijiquan. Nice, though. Kinda reminds me of LiangYi/TaiYiQuan.
I´m talking about people who have trained in the temple before the cultural revolution and who have made statements about the way forms were trained back then.Check Shi Hanlei.According to him all Shaolin forms were expressed in this "Taiji mode", unless it was children´s training.
@robertvoice ya, there really are no mysteries. All the masters I've heard of Shaolin, Taiji, etc, all say there is no mystery. It's all science in the right dynamics, the right angle of attack, the proper execution of power, etc. If you didn't know how a car worked you would think it were a mystery too, right?
Each movement is a seperate fighting pose, all of which are comprised into a dance like combination called a form (there are forms for every fighting style). A form can be made up of from anywhere around 12 to 120-odd poses. The forms are created to instill each and every fighting pose into the monk's body, so that, if engaged in a fight, their bodies will instinctively revert back to what they've learned while practicing these forms.
@RgnmnkynutsSC1 well it goes even deeper. Each movement has a precise direction and a precise formula to how the power should be generated and expressed. Form is not merely fighting poses and moving between them, some are abstract concepts, the motion between each of them is also important, the anglework, the type of breathing employed. Some moves are offensive but also primarily conditioning and stretching for the body. Each movement is an individual technique with countless applications.
repeating the same movement a hundred times locks it in your muscle memory. repeating these series of movements gets the body used to putting them one after the other, like in a fight. it is also a type of meditation, combining the body with the inner energy, like kidochi has already said. Tai chi is the same thing. it's slowed down fighting movements and techniques. it enables you to feel the transition between each movement, foot position, etc
Hidden within the movements are techniques useful for combat, and so the forms act to train the body and the mind. In this particular form there are both 'hard' and 'soft' techniques - the hard are to do with external techniques, i.e. directing parts of the body, and the soft are internal, so directing the flow of chi, or internal energy.
it's fine for this style... in this style sometimes forms are done a bit slowly... there is a reason for each of the things .. wh this is a form of dynamic stretching and " power expression.
No I am refering that he do not blend the knee for kick then this kick only has the force of the hips, I he blend his knee the force will be complete feet , hip , knee as spring and explosive kick(zumatory of forces) may be so it is his style sorry
yes... this is a distinct style.. that is known as a rising dynamic stretch kick.. it gets the leg used to kicking high without over stressing the joints and so on.. It's often used in various tyles of kung fu and wushu to train a kick or express power by slapping the hand at the end of the kick... i can assure you that he has also learned the front kicks you like which is called "front snap kick" or "front thrust kick" :) .. in both of those 2 frong kicks we bend the knee.
these 2 other kicks that i mentioned the "front snap" and the "front thrust" are actualc ombat kicks.. the ones that he is doing are mostly for dynamic stretching... However can be used to disrupt guard while doing light sparring.. .. oh and dynamic stretching also helps with the 2 basic axe kicks(inside axe and outside axe)... :) have a good day.
This Form is actually Xiao Pao Quan. Xiao means small (ther is also a Da Pao Quan, da means big). Pao means like an explosion. It is often translated as cannon fist. He performs slowly as this is from an instructional VCD and he wants you to see each stance clearly. This is genuine Shaolin Quan.

Why you relate them? We know the karate of japan was learn from chuan fa, but they aint the same.
There is no mistery, all you have to do is go and learn it, and have the enough discipline to practice a lot.
