:40 the artwork then was done by hand, but either really talented graphic designer or well educated ones. Recording artists didnt have any other choices in format so the format dictated the creative possibilities.
If you use say an iPod Touch or the ultra fantastic Cowon digital players that allow for multiple large art slideshows while your music plays you can enjoy the artwork or on your computer, you can setup a digital jukebox with huge artwork on screen if you're savvy enough to do it.
Turntables have a different signal level to other audio decives. The "tinny sound" you discribed sounds like you have not used the PHONO input on your amplifer. If you don't have a PHONO input on your amp or if you're pluging straight into the computer, get a "phono pre-amp" to convert the signal to line level (they're pretty affordable). Good Luck with your deck
I've always thought vinyl sounds tinny and no depth! Does the quality of the record player determine how it sounds? I love the artwork, but really haven't liked the sound quality thus far... Anyone know what I'm talking about? cheers
@patellaman its all in the quality of your needle and tone arm. you need a decent turntable to get a good sound out of the record. you have to at least spend $500 for a good turntable, sometimes you can find some good ones used for less. Im a dj so I have always used Technics 1200 MK, but you can also buy more audiophile turntables out there just for listening but can be very costly.
@cubachang Ahh right, yeah coz I bought a turntable to transfer my parents old LPs to CD and the quality was absolutely terrible and had no bass and yeah... My dad always talked about his $1000 turn table he bought in the 1980's ... Maybe it would be a better idea to buy myself something decent! :) Thanks so much for clarifying that for me! ;)

Yeah, i wonder what the carbon footprint of using that old nasty oil company vinyl record making process is,,? All of you fu.. ing lefty, hippie, self loathing bastards want your crappy vinyl records back,,, oh oh,, ooohhhhhhhhh yeah.
There is truly a difference in sound and presentation of the music with vinly. With vinly there is an actual physical interaction with the music source that give it a different sound you can't get with a cd/ipod. For example, to hear Angus (AC/DC) play live or to hear him play on a CD is not the same. Even if he is note for note. Something is lost in the translation when a physical aspect of the music is taken out. Not saying vinly is like a live concert but I think you get what I mean.
Heck Yeah!! Record companies should realize, and I mean soon, that with the decline of cd sales due to the net and technoloby...if they just start putting a lot of vinyl back in stores...WE WILL COME!!!!!!!!!!
0:14 I have that record! It's Southern Accents by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Ok, then?
Anyways, whaddabout the art it comes with? Substance!? :D
ybrik222 2 years ago
Why would you say so? Vinyl features minimal compression, offering a wider variety of sounds than any other format!
I wouldn't say it's obsolete, but that it has a "niche" market.
ybrik222 2 years ago
They showed "The Bends" and "Hail to the Thief" by Radiohead in this video! I own those on vinyl!
