Benoit was fine at the very beginning.. actually very good the first time I saw him perform with Yes. But something happened.. and it is unfortunate for him that his range and dynamics diminished. I hope this new Jon can lead Yes into a new era of prog music.
I wish Benoit the very best with Mystery. They are a very good band.
Wow, I have not really gotten into the music of Yes (yet) but this is quite an impressive performance I would say! I'm so happy for Jon and all his good fortune. It is so well deserved.
It's also nice to know that he will continue with Glass Hammer. He has been vital to their new chapter in a long legacy of great work, and like most GH fans, I have come to adore the sound of his voice.
Jon Davison will front Yes on their Australasia tour coming up (NZ, Oz, Japan, Indo. Hawaii). He is actually a musician unlike Benoit who was a part-time singer and full-time upholsterer and mediocre Anderson imitator with an annoying stage presence. Davison's range is more akin to Anderson's, and I believe he plays guitar as well and can make dope-heads dream we are living in 1979 again. In addition, we can scream out Joooon! at shows, and it'll be accurate now.
Mr Davidson sounds very good. He has a good grasp of a stage presence & he is a 1000 times better than the clown Yes had singing to replace Jon Anderson. I would suggest after the Australian part of the tour,Yes work to get Jon Anderson back, and as well as Mr Davidson sings, try to work it out so that the two Jon's share the singing. At first glance, it looks like it possibly could work. The bufffon Benoit could never share a stage with Anderson. Remember who's shoes U R filling N U will do OK.
They aren't going to get Anderson back. Let it go. Davison will do fine, and Benoit was a nice guy who deserves better than the insults so many "fans" like to hurl at him.
Jon, best wishes to you and Yes! I hope you can bring some healing energy to that band, they sure need it! And, don't forget your chums in Glass Hammer!! Cheers, Chuck
I was a Benoit David fan, but I like Jon Davison already. I will support him 100%. Always support Yes 1000% :) you'll never hear me bash ever Jon Davison, like some Jon Anderson freaks did...I already like the way Jon Davison sings Owner Of A Lonely Heart, and that is enough for me :)
You can tell that at no point is he pushing his voice beyond a range he can't really do consistently ala BD.Stage presence is also much better as well.No surfboard antics.Very ,very encouraging.Welcome to the band.I'm sure Jon will do very well.
No slight intended to Benoit David, but I am really stoked about having Jon Davison in Yes. You can just see how much he loves this music -- and he sounds fantastic. Good luck, Jon D.!
Nice job! Greetings from Italy and good luck for touring with YES! Don't be a clone. This is not important. Only, find your own magic (and, of course, hit the notes :-)!
New band about to hit the stage from Upstate NY called "Downing Grey" Covering Genesis, King Crimson, UK, ELP, Led Zeppelin, Gentle Giant, Rush, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd perhaps a Focus tune from time to time and of course YES. This band is a tribute to "Classic Progressive Rock" itself. Nothig like it out there. Stay tuned as they plan to tour. These guys are covering 60 of the rock worlds best musicians not just 5. Its never been done before on this level. Gonna be a very cool show.
@MrBadgerrat Thanks all! Currently, Roundabout - The American Yes Tribute is on haitus! Jon Davison is recording with Glass Hammer and I'm working with Circa featuring former members of YES! Circa's 3rd studio album will be released in about a week! You can get a signed and numbered copy direct from our website! (circahq dot com) Find us on facebook! I personally agree with the comment about Yes' choice for the vocalist! But I am allowed to be biased, right? :D - Johnny Bruhns
I don't know who this singer is...but...he should definately have been picked by Squire instead of benoit. I like this guys' stage presence a lot more than Benoits'. That's all.
And to think I missed this band when they played San Diego. I hope these guys come back this way soon! Does anybody know about their concert schedule?
When I heard about these guys, I never would have dreamed that they had anyone who sounded so much like Jon Anderson.
Thanks! Check out our myspace listed on the video! It has our schedule. San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casion a week from Monday, on October 26, then November 28 at the Ramona Mainstage!
Wow great job, come to northeast Ohio. I saw YES last week and I think your guy might be a bit more convincing than Benoit David (though David did do a good job filling in).
