  • I really love what I consider the great "fakeout" at just about the 4-minute mark of this song. It sounds like the song is ending, but Kiki keeps singing softly, then brings it back up again!!! Great stuff.

  • .... an ace #, one of those hidden gems that makes all the sense in the world and much thought, talent and production skills as well. Hat's off to Elton John who made it a reality out of his own pocket... Thanks for the post

  • Playing this in Band :)

  • I can't hear this track without stompin me feets, beatin out the drum line on whatever is handy and jumpin round the house like a damned fool. Scares the pets half to death. I'm doin it now

  • I got this song for my choir

  • WOW!!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG :D 4EVER IN MY TOP 10 SONGS EVER MADE!!!

  • Some of the lyrics have weathered with age, but the energy of this song is as awesome as ever. Kiki Dee was not known well enough for her talent and the range of material it allowed her to do.

  • the drums and the bassline is really cool and off the hook

  • MAN LOVE THIS SONG AS MUCH I HEARD IT ON SING-OFF >_<!!!

  • 2 People don't have the music in them.

  • kiki dee so cur in the 70;s

  • We are singing this song in my college choir and I'm singing a solo at the part that says "Feel Funky! Feel Good! I'm gonna tell you I'm in the neighborhood. Gonna fly like a bird on a wind hold on to your hat honey sing, sing, sing, sing, sing." Great song... It gets you up on your feet. It's got a beat that just makes me wanna go crazy.... I love it!

  • Love this song. Listening to it makes me know I certainly have the music in me!!

  • Bias Boshell rock so much!

  • Great lost classic that's hardly ever played on mainstream FM stations these days! Thanks YouTubers for uploading great lost classics such as this!

  • I'm singing this song for my choir concert next Monday. I have the beginning solo. c:

  • This song can really get you going. It's the kind of song and beat that can stick with you all day. The sound quality of that record and turn table is incredible!

  • I had not listened to this superb song in a while, even though it is one of my favorite youtube favorites. God, it is so great!! I love the fakeout at the 4-minute mark, when the unaware listener might think the song is finished.

  • The long version - awesome.

  • ●I Love Kiki Dee !!! from JAPAN

  • Someone said they never heard this version. This is THE only version that matters!

  • @Rokinray I agree to that!

  • This song just popped into my head this morning. Great, great tune from my early years. What a voice. Thanks for sharing it!

  • What a good tune! Thanks. I forgot how good this was. Kiki had some soul in her!

  • This is my theme song!!!

  • @TheSimonRubenstein

Mine, too. It's my all-time favorite "inspirational" music. ;-)

  • got this one as well

  • The original? Thank you for posting it! It's so f. awesome!

  • This is such a bad ass song. This song encompasses the 1970's SO WELL. It's like it took all the exceptional sounds of the 70's that made that decade's music unique and PUT IT ALL IN THIS ONE SONG! It has the feel of: rock / pop / disco all mixed up into one. Very well done KiKi Dee~!

  • This was on That 70's Show <3333333

    This songs great! :-)

  • Hit #12 in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? Anybody remember when Mackenzie Phillips sang it on 'One day at a time'? God bless!

  • TUNE! :D

  • I like the beat :D.

  • cool en swing

  • Gorgeous Kiki, real name Pauline Mathews, went to school with my sister, the first white female on Tamla Motown!

  • What I'd give to hear stuff like this today!!

  • you just did.

  • happy music :) I like it!!!

  • She really had a powerful voice. Saw her with Elton John, in concert, in at the San Diego Sports Arena in 74'.

  • I danced to this song for my recital when I was 12 :)

  • Love this song! I hate working out, basically the only working out I can get myself to do is dancing - for which songs like this are GREAT. I'm keeping healthy thanks to generous souls like you ;)

  • :D Glad to help.

  • back in my day.. we would have killed figureheads for a 'tonearm' like that! :D oh no! get the USB version of this turntable.. sorry, i know that joke's getting old.. welp, time for me to break down and blow the dust off my collection and the EOR collection and bluray it or something... before it rots into the ground...

  • Great Song! We are playing it in our school band :-)

  • Hey TonofRecords, this is cbfall! I was just wondering what is the b-side to that awesome kiki dee song? can you post it if you hadn't already?

  • Thank you for posting!! My mom had the exact 45 in the video! I just shared his with her on facebook; great memories!!

  • Thank you for posting this!!! I LOVE this song... I had this whole routine to it when I was in the 6th grade LOL. I love that you made the image of a spinning 45 - hope it doesn't confuse our younger viewers LOL, Anyway, I linked it on my facebook page.... love it....

  • God could this chick's voice kick ass! I first heard it in 1975 when I got a copy of K-Tel's "Out of Sight," LP. It was the second song on the album. The first? "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting." Figures. Elton. Kiki's song is one of the most underappreciated rock numbers EVA!

  • this is my new theme song (: i recently heard it in a video where a little girl was doing a dance to it. I LOVED IT. (both the song and the dance, rofl)

i've been looking for the song! but this song is 21 years older than me :/ oh well (:

  • Ouch! That makes me feel old. I was 12 when this came out.

  • Makes me feel old too, but I was born the year this came out.

  • Don't feel bad, "Lesrev." I had my 23rd birthday in 1974!

  • @TonofRecords 14 for me. I love this song! Feeling the grip of my age more some days than others. We had some damn fine music when we were young though!!

  • @TonofRecords I was 16!! Talk about old.....[iminent=2T54TAgUWfOB]

  • Sorry, my previos comment goes to @TonofRecords.

  • @corkskrewclubhouse93: I meant the duet on this song, not on "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". I could never find "I've Got The Music In Me" that was sung by Kiki Dee & Elton John. But I can clearly remember that I saw it even on TV back in the 70's.

  • Hmm I don't think I've heard that version. Thanks for the history. If I find it I'll send a link.

  • @TonofRecords It's true. I had it on an old K-tel album!

  • @corkskrewclubhouse93: Thanks for mentioning the duet tune with Elton John. How come I wasn't able to find it on YouTube? I'd appreciate it very much if you helped me find it. :-)

  • It's here: watch?v=uyJsP1_fKSc

  • This song is a great example of that transition from early '70s hippy to late '70s dance. What a powerful voice she had in this tune. Alot of people don't realize it's the same chic who song that cheezy duet tune with Elton John.

  • Kiki Dee never gets enough recognition for one of the most' Hard edge '... Rocker Chick voices ever! And there are really only a few that measure up.

  • damn this is soooo catchy :)

  • This is one of the few songs that has its own encore in it

  • I like to listen to this song when I need a little pick me up,really describes the way I look at life..

  • I just listened to some of the "Related Videos." Uh, to say that Kiki's version of this terrific song is in jeopardy of being overshadowed would not be accurate, to say the least!! Her imitators should not quit their day jobs!! Pretty poor collection of "singing."

  • In 1975 Kiki Dee toured with Elton John and rocked the house with his band on this song!

  • I saw that 1975 tour and to see her do this, then Elton John, all for a seat in the front for only $12.50...Priceless!

  • Thanks for posting. I love this song. Brings back some really good memories.

  • This terrific video is a perfect example of the fact that a video does not have to have fancy visuals to be absolutely fabulous!!! thanks so much for posting this TonolR !!!

  • killer song! brings back some nice memories from that era

  • o wow this is my chorus song! lol

  • It give me so much butterfly's for music (L)(L)

  • This came our the last time the economy was REALLY BAD. Things turned out OK didn't they! This great tune is a fine reason why!

  • i love it;. It was coveed in french language

by sabrina lory (j'ai la musique en moi)

  • Good song :)

  • I think this is not single version.

  • ???

  • Of COURSE it's the full-length single version! It's the radio and television appearances that edited the shit out of it.

  • great song..

    thanks Rob for share..

    yep guess it's true..lol ;P

  • And of course, she and Elton did "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" together. #1, summer of '76 I believe.

  • I'd forgotten how good she was (is). What a cracking tune.

  • Kiki can sing wow, got this one as well as she kind of gives me a bit of chills when she sings when it goes no foolish dream to make me cry, kind of does make me laugh, and this song really brings me a lot of the good old days to me everyday, and this is the best song ever, from 1974, and thats really a great song, and I do kind of like her long hair a bit.

  • As some of you may know, this was released on Elton's then newly-formed Rocket Record Label.

Rumour has it that, when she was recording the song, Elton felt it was lacking a bit of zing, so, as she was recording another take, he apparently leapt into the studio naked!

Probably explains the "smile" in the vocal.

    :o)

  • when i die i hope i get to see kiki dee and janis joplin sing together....that would be HEAVEN

  • one of the best songs in history!!!!!

  • The Kiki Dee Band ! Has some roots back to Detroit ! I have origanal vid from back then, on dvd, Called best of The beet club. Can be bought from Amazon ! vol.2 And one seen you can see him with his WABX tee shirt on !! AWSOME

  • Ithink a re-release is due for this one,it would go down well with todays music scene, great!

  • Yup. Except some egg-head would re-mix it and act like we're all supposed to love it. The production of this recording is shear genius. I'm stoked to have found such a clean copy.

  • one of the best underapprecited songs from the 70's ty for the song..

  • This song rocks! Too bad Kiki Dee is pretty much remembered only for that way-overplayed duet with Elton John,"Don't Go Breaking My Heart."

  • This is the song I remember her by. That other thing is just an annoyance. :D

  • Same here. This is the Kiki Dee song I remember her by!

  • So so long since I heard this. Thank you for posting it. What a classic. I love it!!
