  • am going to see a specialist for a chat re this surgery as my knee cap sits to the side of my knee, i hear though that for most people it does not work and i dont want to go through all that for nothing, i was also told it would be 6 weeks on crutches with a possible leg brace is this true? i am 31 years old and overweight whch i am sure does not help

  • @TeenyPinkTurtle Most lateral releases are not effective, actually my doctor said that it kind of ruined my knee. If you can avoid it, I would. I was only on crutches for 3 days and I never had a brace, but my friend had this surgery and was on crutches for 6 weeks and had a brace. Good luck!

  • @divagirl101xo thanks for the advice, sorry yours was not effective, my knee is very painful and limits what i can do sometimes but the operation seems to not be that succesful so am really apprehensive, i will see what the surgery chap says and the stats he gives but i am not sure, thanks for responding it was helpful:)

  • @TeenyPinkTurtle good luck and God bless! :)

  • @divagirl101xo oh wow still? was your surgery in july 2011? srry for ur knee. you should see special doc like very special. my doctor is great. he can found what wrong. my knee doing ok i mean every time i do activity it put alot pressure on my knee it hurt i feel clip or creak. i have appt on 27th :0 nervous. hope it it not mess my acl graft.

  • @TheCrazy243 My surgery was May 2011. I am seeing an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in knees and said that the surgery that my other doctor performed kind of ruined my knee.. good luck with your knee and doctor appointment! :)

  • @TheCrazy243 or other bone such as hip, knee r shoulder.

  • @DeadlyStrike007 well popping your bones is normal. When the pop goes loud and extremely painful is not normal it could damage in your knee.

  • @TheCrazy243 Well before you had your surgery ... Well if you live in the ghetto here there are some good ppl that now how to pop your bones back in place lol it's good tho I also poped my knee & a man but it back in place .. Oh yeah and also my pinky ,some girl push the school door at me and my pinky folded back & yet I walked home xP " remember ,Have Faith"

  • I almost dislocated my kneecap but almost. Doctor found out that my ACL have been completely torn. I torn ACL from begin pushed by a girl during practice hoops. I felt pop I thought it was that kneecap. It was the worst injury I've ever had. It happened in March 2011. Had surgery in June 2011. I recently hurt my knee again I do felt pop :/ right now my knee suck. So,how's your knee now? Good video though :) My knee is way worse then your. Ligments problem are serious :'(

  • @TheCrazy243 Ouch! Sorry for your knee problems! My knee is not doing well.. My doctor has me doing therapy 5 days a week and I can't do any physical activity. :( I go back on Feb. 21 or 22 I think.. do you have any advice for me? and how is your knee now?

  • Thanks for this video! My kneecap has dislocated 6-7 times in the past 3 or so months. I just had my follow up appointment after all of my physical therapy treatment (during treatment it dislocated 3 times), my doctor is talking surgery. This video helped. (: I do have a couple questions though...

How long was your recovery time?

And did the surgery stop your kneecap from dislocating?

  • @spikingshutterbug Actually, I am still in the process of recovering. I was on crutches for a few days, no brace, therapy for about 3 months, and I returned to physical activity about 4 or so months after surgery. I am still in pain however, and my kneecap still tends to dislocate. If you're talking surgery with your doctor, I would suggest mentioning screws being placed in because that should stop it. I didnt have those though.. I hope you heal quickly! (:

  • Went well, I'm in pretty bad pain though. Thanks for asking ma'am. Hopefully I can play college football this fall

  • @therealpowerlifter Sorry to hear your hurting :/ take it easy!

  • Do you get on Facebook? If you do we shall become friends on there?

  • Thank you very much :-) I first hurt my knees when I was a freshmen. I was playing football and during practice I squared 1050 pounds and it was amazing. The second time I did it was when I got injured lol :/

  • @therealpowerlifter How was your surgery?

  • Thank you ma'am. It sucks but its something that has to be done. I need to be more careful when I weight lift so I won't get injured again :/

  • @therealpowerlifter True... Yeah its hard to "lift stuff with your legs" when you can't exactly do that haha. I will be praying that your surgery goes well!

  • I have my 4th this Friday. I'm pretty nervous.

  • @therealpowerlifter Holy crap! good luck dude!

  • How many knee surgeries have you had?

  • @therealpowerlifter just one so far, I go to see a new doctor soon and idk if he will want to do another one

  • @Divagirl101xo thank you ma'am :)

  • @therealpowerlifter anytime :)

  • I just had this surgery for the second time. I've had it done on both knees. I've had the screws removed on the left knee and now its time to have the right knee's screws removed. The pain of recovering is so bad I'm guessing its what medieval torture felt like lol

  • @therealpowerlifter Ouch! I never had screws in my knee but it sounds painful.. Hope your kneed heal quickly!

  • Futuro Infinity precision fit brace. Model number 01039 says on the box: High-Performance antimicrobial support with adjustable compression Gel Pad. $20 at most Kroger supermarkets, Walgreens, etc.

  • @bassinbillRC5300 Ill have to check it out thanks!

  • Ouch! I bet that hurt. Is your knee better now?

  • @boeing43 Honestly, no its not :( Before the surgery it had only dislocated once or twice. After the surgery, its dislocated I think like 5 or 6 times?

  • Comment removed

  • @divagirl101xo does it still hurt when you walk on it?

  • @boeing43 It hurts to do anything

  • @divagirl101xo :) yaay your feet are sooooo pretty :)

  • @divagirl101xo I have A Chondromalacia Patella on the left. When I was 14(7 yrs ago) I sprained my knee in dance and it eventually dislocated itself over time. The ligaments tightened and the ortho though I had a tear when the MRI negative but showed a dislocation of the kneecap he took new xrays of my knee yesterday. He found on the xrays that I had measurable tracking of 4cm. Dr's giving me 2 months to see if it moves more with my home excercises before he operates, Pre Op is Feb 7th!

  • @shortyx2007 Ouch! By pre-op do you mean that you will find out then if your having surgery?

  • @divagirl101xo Yes, But that appointment may be sooner than anticipated.... I stretched my knee out and it locked up on me and now i can not walk backwards and its getting harder to walk. Calling the Dr in the morning

  • @shortyx2007 Ouch! Yeah ligament problems are pretty serious and it sounds like you may need that surgery pretty soon.. good luck! keep me posted on what happens!

  • i had this surgery on my right knee plus they did a skin graph on my ligament. im getting my left knee done tomarrow. on my right knee it took two and a half weeks untill i could walk again. how long did it take for you?

  • @TheEmobabe94 My doctor was not very good. He never gave me a post op brace and told me to stop walking on crutches when I felt like it, so I only walked on them for I think like three or four days. Good luck with your healing, God bless!

  • @divagirl101xo thank you! hope your knee is better!

  • @TheEmobabe94 thanks!! (:

  • How did you Dislocate it?

  • @courtneylovesbiebs I had a patella tracking disorder, so it just dislocates pretty much no matter what im doing (:

  • wow i did that once and it hurt

  • thanks, I appreciate it. : )

  • what kind of brace do you use for activity, I have had this done and my knee still goes out of place, What was the brand?

  • @Gibbert2014 Its just a sleeve with a hole for the kneecap. Im not sure of the brand, my doctor gave it to me.

  • I had this the arthroscopy done as well as getting a plate connected to two screws drilled into my growth plate on 12/8/10. It was some hard core recovery. I get the staple taken out on 2/22/11

  • @emmirz Ouch!! Hope your recovery goes smoothly!

  • how long did it take to recover!!! having this done tomorrow!

  • @MoroHoppie I am still recovering, (at my age at least) it takes about 6 months to recover. good luck!

  • I had a lateral release in January, 20011 and have still not recovered 100% because it's not fully recovered. I am now having bad hip, and lower back pain. I hope it will get better. As I enjoy being a busy body : (

Thanks for the video! : ) I hope and wish the best recovery to all.

  • @littlejissy Yeah unfortunatley you can't hold me back from being active, which probably isnt good for my knee. I hope your knee, hip, and back feels better!! :)

  • Was your patella off alignment? That's what ihave and I might get surgery so I want to know if I have to wear a immobilized afterward

  • @synchrolilie yes it was. I never had an immobilizer, but some people do, it depends on your doctor. Good luck!

  • I just had this done to both my knees. I have crosses for scars though.

  • @ringlingWannaBe good luck with your healing! yeah its because you had stitches above the skin, mine were disolvable

  • @divagirl101xo Did your knee only dislocate once?

  • @ringlingWannaBe before surgery, it dislocated once. after surgery, it dislocated twice. so a total of three times.

  • @divagirl101xo Wow, you are lucky.

  • @divagirl101xo yeah my friend dislocates hers every month pretty much...but im pretty sure i injured my knee again.

  • @bballnut24 well when we decided that i could start doing physical activity again, i told him that it felt like i need some support. so he just gave me a knee sleeve that i wear only during activity. braces are sometimes helpful if you need one, but eventually your leg becomes dependent on it and becomes weak without it. try to steer clear of a brace if you can

  • oh that does not look fun :/ im sorry that you had to go through that!

  • @lollipopleahh123 im sorry you had to go through all your surgeries too! thank you!

  • sorry but did we want to know tht :)

  • @SuperStarMia if you didnt want to know that, then why would you look at this video? think things through before you sound dumb dear :)

  • Why didn't you need a brace after the surgery?

  • @southsidesoxsidefan Im not sure, I just was not given one. However my knee was wrapped in an ace bandage and I had to walk on crutches.

  • Did you have an ACL knee brace after the surgery? The kind that limits Range of Motion

  • @southsidesoxsidefan no i did not have a brace at all after surgery

  • Comment removed

  • @bballnut24 i can relate to that! I had about six months of them not knowing what was wrong..so they did the surgery and found it dislocated. Did my knee ever what?

  • Comment removed

  • @bballnut24 Yes it does! It gives out on me a lot.

  • Comment removed

  • @bballnut24 It has been a couple weeks shy of 3 months post op, and I am not 100 percent yet. Im about 60 percent. I can bend it and straighten it now, but it's still very painful. I have only run once since post op and it did not feel good at all...My knee hurts to walk on it even..the surgery I would not consider a success. Good luck and I hope your knee isn't like this! My knee is very stubborn.

  • im getting a lateral release done and my medial pelica removed on july 26th. Im super nervouse... :/ Were you realy nervouse right before you went in? How did you feel after? How long before you were off the crutches? Let me know asap plz!

  • @xXMandieBatesXx dont worry about the surgery! I was nervous up until the moment before I got my IV. It doesn't even hurt! And I dont remember anything after I got the IV..then boom your asleep for the whole thing! When I woke up, I was in some pain but I had a pretty painful surgery, and the meds made it better. You just feel tired. I was only on crutches for a few days, like 3 or 4 maybe? Good luck!
