Well-not into name calling with this Guy but he is off track--and yes as a Christian I believe God used evolution in his creation process--the evidence is all over in nature--many animals incuding man has evolved not from a monkey but within the specises. As a Christian I do not believe we own heaven--I believe heaven is for good people and hell is for evil people that simple. THe Letter from God was a play on words as anyone with at least average intelligence can see. GOD BLESS PAUL HARVEY!
I really liked the letter and I listen to it a lot. I was born and raised a Christian, but it is hard for me to believe that you have to verbally declare your allegiance to the Judeo-Christian God and Jesus to be saved. I believe in the all-powerful and omniscient creator, but I think God's saving grace is way too grand-scale for any of us to easily determine how to get to Heaven, or who is and is not going to Heaven. Also, the letter was written by Bo Lozoff, not Paul Harvey.
Amen to this video. I know so many people who are lost with this "just love each other" thinking. There is no foundation in this, it's just too generic and empty. We need the Lord.
You in this video TOTALLY PROVE PAUL'S POINT IN THAT RELIGIONS CAUSE CONFLICT! A person cannot be condemned to hell if they grew up in a religion other than Christianity or whatever religion you are. Now I'll tell you this. The Catholic church scares the hell outta me....As to why they need so many statues in their churches is beyond me, but I know if my heart aint right with God, my chances of going to heaven aint no greater than theirs. Open your mind.....get a sense of humor. Relieve yourself
.......I could not listen to the whole video without saying something. Sir Jezuzfreek777....Paul Harvey had a great sense of humor.....as does God!!! YES...GOD HAS A SENSE OF HUMOR....Paul Harvey's Letter from God is not to be taken literal, but for the listener to take from it what he/she feels is right and logical. I have been a Christian all my life and I LOVED Paul's presentation!! I never believed in evolution, of course God has His own Names, and as for all religions being equal..
As a born again believer of Jesus I think Paul Harveys letter from God is so wrong. Jesus's words are not that confusing and are easy to understand when you've been born of the Spirit. Without the Spirit the God of this world satan has a veil over the minds of who don't believe. Good response Brother.
You need to learn how to listen more carefully. He did not say all religions were the same, He said religions of denominations were created by man, not by god. You are misleading people from what was said!! Go back watch it again more carefully!
I would suggest that this guy listens more closely, tom what Paul Harvey said. You are full of bs. You hear what you want to hear. In the beginning he says that all the different denominations of religion were created by man. You are full of shit!!!
Hahaha... are you serving God running around on your MC? (not to menion all the money you have spent on it.) Want to serve God? Sell you bike and give the money to an orphanage... Also, before you get in front of a camera, at least comb ALL of your hair (the back left side is sticking up) HOW CAN YOU SPEAK FOR GOD WHEN YOU SAY HE DOES NOT CARE WHAT YOU CALL HIM? Show me the scripture that backs that up. BTW, it's pronounced YEHOVAH, not JEHOVAH.
dude shut up we all expirience for god thats it where here to learn we learn different things for a reson. dude onley you can feel god your his child if you cant feel him thats your problem leave paul harvey alone he is dead dude.
all your points are valid from a christian point of view, but you have to realise that its a speech about deism. Like, your using the christian bible. Deists would argue that all your knowledge is from humans, and thats the whole point, a lot of ppl reject religions becuz its ppls words not gods words. Im not saying your wrong, its just different view points a lot of the time. Like your convinced your religion is right, but that might not be true.

You've done a fine job young man on rebutting Mr. Harvey. I too grew up listening to him as well, but I "grew up". Once you begin a journey with Christ you look back with a sad heart at those past idols. I pray he found the truth...
you are a perfect example of what you call mind being "impressionable" as you have taken the bait of ignorance "hook, line, and sinker" as you say, and have been "reeled in" to that ignorance and confusion. you can go beyond your ignorance and confusion, but it will take you a very, very long time.
"Grow up" and follow your deluded religious views? I have far outgrown your ignorance and confusion--a very long time ago. Be very, very patient and persistent with your explorations and you can move beyond your ignorance. Projecting your confusion on me by calling me an "idiot" will not help you. Your name "freek" is quite revealing about yourself. Move past your delusions. There is life beyond the lies you have bought into. Truly, you can be free from the dogma. Go for it fellow!
You are a divider who most likely embraces Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh's points of view. Scripture is flawed as humans are flawed. You, of course, must be an inspired hand of God. The Golden Rule, treat others as you would like to be treated, is the POINT. People are different therefore, their approach to the supreme being is different. You are intolerant and judgmental. You will be judged as you are judged, in the details, in the letter of your law.
And one last thing; your last bit about newspapers, and reading nothing but newspapers "confuses" others...well, you can say the same about the Bible...kind of funny, actually.
People bicker over scripture because people aren't inspired, even if scripture is. I think you give a nasty name to actual Christians, sir. The arguments you present are completely crushed by Harvey's own speech. What I don't understand is how you could listen to what Paul Harvey said in his "Letter to God" and then come up with this. Not trying to put you down man, but it's just my two cents.
You're looking at this from a Christian point of view, "jezusfreek," which to a Muslim or a Jew is considered wrong and invalid just as you view their beliefs. Their god(s) may be false TO YOU, but to them, Jesus either didn't exist or was just another prophet. Get off your high horse, asshole. Be humble and just shut up. Believe what you want. Half the problem is people like you causing the strife that Paul Harvey was talking about. You have no idea how God thinks, so quit acting like it. Jerk
Hey Fucktard, I'm an atheist and do not believe in any gods but I respect the sentiment that Paul was relating here. Paul had more style and charisma then you could ever imagine with your pea sized brain. Obviously you just like to hear yourself talk but all I hear from you is the words of a retard. As Epiales stated below, "You clearly missed the point"!!! Now go fuck yourself or whatever you do when your not bashing ppl who were by far greater than you could ever imagine!!!
This guy is a moron. I could hardly stand hearing him out, but I did. If he tried to speak in my presence I would confront him whole-heartedly and dessimate his moronic attitudes with logic and scriptural contradictions. I think the only reason God doesn't smite him is because God wants his children to stand up for themselves call a jackass a jackass.
stated as a true accuracy from what scripture warrned of in later days...from the mouths of outspoken idiots on the road to hell.... salvation isnt strict...everybody can worship satan & GOD will understand & they all still go to heaven. jesusfreek is correct in this video..and most cant even see that ...just a buncha willing deaf nonseeking morons ..without excuse ..& this is comin from ME..thats pathetic..
been scanning the posts responing to this video...most people are scripturally ignorant ... by their provacativeness theyre easily "idiots" havent ears to even hear more error ..let alone a real truth...geeeeze. the guy in this vid means well but is still correct & in error overall but the mass of responding morons cant even see that much..all theyll do is defend error rather stop.&.seek...with fear..not one of'em..just as God stated it would be morons, willing.very few make it."christians"
actually we are made in God's image,so when we love one another we love God,did you forget we are made in God's image, this further proves you are wrong jezuzfreek777, i am a Conservative Catholic and i look up to Paul Harvey and Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and there is only one God,that's what Paul Harvey was trying to get across,Paul Harvey's open letter to God was great, and if you are a good and moral person you can get into heaven! God bless you Paul Harvey, i will see you up there someday
What i find funny is that this bible thumping dbag is exactly who Paul Harvey was talking about. Good game in showing us exactly why what he said is important.
You are RIGHT ON. Thanks for expressing some of my exact concerns. Jesus did not go to the cross so that we can embrace a "love one another only" belief. I like Paul Harvey too...always have. Hopefully he found out the real truth before his sad passing. Only God knows.
Dude, as wise as you are, you CLEALRY missed the point. And there is nothing 'New Age' about it. At the end end of the audio (and frankly, throughout the audio) you will hear that he is putting JESUS out there as the one to follow! This is the very point that Harvey was trying to get across: WAKE UP!!!
if you grew up listening to him you know what is show was called.... "i believe thats what the show was called" also God has over 99 names... your taking his story and twisting it in more ways then what is necessary , paul harvey was trying to make a point. God forbid someone, who is famous and respected, speak about God. im sorry your 13 minute shpeal is absurd. i could go on for hours, however ill leaves this at this.
No he's not twisting it. Paul was naive to think there's any way to reason with fundie dunces like Jezuzfreek.
And while brotherly love and 'good behaviour' may be fairly consistent messages in most religions it was a mischaracterization of religions as a whole. Who do have a lot of hate in them as well (especially in the big ones), and there is a message more consistent than brotherly love in religion in general and that is the notion of putting (their) god before anything.
You need to watch the video again. You clearly don't get it. Quite frankly, you may be one of the most "un-christianlike" people I've ever heard speak. Now think about that. And then go ahead and delete this comment because that's what you do.
Oh please........dude, as already stated, you don't get it Paul Harvey's approach and points of what "God says".
You're intellectually disecting the "matters of the heart" that is the context of the manner by which Paul Harvey is trying to convey in this letter from God. And thats the point.
Jesus himself told the religious leaders you "bow to the letter of the law, yet defile the heart of the law". Thats P Harvey's message in this as well as Gods letter.
I see a lot of people on here hating on this video and the guy making it. I do not agree with everything he says, but there is no need to go off like that. I have heard the letter from God that he is talking about and I liked what it said. I agree with Mr. Harvey. The one thing about us all, we all have an opinion, usually one to suit us not others. This video, as well as Mr. Harvey's comments were just that. Their opinions. Don't try to make yourself crazy over it. Who should be our judge?
You can be spiritual without being religious. Religion (and Christianity) is responsible for a good deal of evil and human death and suffering. Religion should be like masturbation, keep it to yourself. P.S. You don't believe in Evolution? Look at how bacteria and viruses can mutate in one or two generations...
Amazing how much bullshit you know about an invisible fucking psychopath!!!! Compare everything you hear or read to the bullshit bible??? Oh Your Fucking God, You are beyond ignorant by far!!!
you keep going off on the differences of religion when at the beginning of the "letter" He clearly said that "THESE ARE YOUR RELIGIONS, NOT MINE. i dont call that accepting and embracing the religions. i see it as Him accepting his children with their faults. your comments are the reason for this letter. because comments like yours are the ones that cause people to argue. look at the letter as the ultimate witness from Him about peace and faith, NO MATTER YOUR RELIGION. dont look into it so hard
Most Christians believe that if we don't believe the way they do we go into an eternity of punishment and suffering at the hands of God. What kind of God tortures most of the population of the planet because he doesn't approve of the way they think? And what about babies who have never accepted Jesus as their savior or thought about God, much less loved him? Are they headed for God's torture chamber too? Thanks but no thanks on your brand of "God". Paul Harvey's version makes more sense.
It does not matter what religion, nationality you are. THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD AND EVERYONE OF THIS WORLD IS PRAYING TO THIS ONE GOD. I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE MUSLIM, CHRISTIAN, BABTIST, PENECOSTAL STILL THERE IS ONLY ONE (1) GOD, AMEM
you know, just because you're a christian, doesn't mean you know what God would say. I truly believe That God did not intend organized religion, because organized religion is slavory
I kind of think that the open letter was saying that referencing the bible was wrong given that it is just another human product. Loving god alone or first, without loving other humans is worthless and the business of people who live in caves. I think you're missing the point massively. Peace.
I've read the thing myself online, and it's the most erroneous thing I've ever read! Did you know that Paul Harvey's a member of the Freemasons?! That's right! I've got to tell you he's trying to bring us to Hell!
if you think about it...if we are nice, and good to each other and love one another wouldn't the rest fall into place? Whatever, we all have our own opinions and interpret the bible the way we want to...i don't think it's right to tell each other who is right or wrong...GOD knows our heart...and he is the only one who can judge us. But that's my opinion. ok ciao!
The statment "there is no absolute truth" is self condemming and testifies itself to be a false statement. this false statment proves the point its trying to disprove. There is absolute truth, JESUS and there is no other name under Heaven by which men can be saved. Believe that Jesus is the Son of God, Repent and be Baptized, for the forgivness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
there's a word for what you are- an evalgelist. if you think you're not, go find a dictionary- you are. you think it's the christian duty to convert people & spread your diahrea of the mouth. god wants you to love. that's it. love him, love your fellow man--thy neighbor-- & now that the world is all connected, that means everyone.
you are so brainwashed & closeminded. you're a complete douche. how many buddhists or hari krisnas have started wars in the name of god? you have no idea what other religons teach & it's quite obvious. i've studied many religons in my life & christianity is so corrupt & full of shit. your 10 commandments were stolen from a PAGAN religon that had those laws in place for 2000 yrs prior to moses.
go buy a copy of the ancient egyptian book of the dead. they are in there in the same order, same wording except instead of thou shalt not, it says i have not because it's a speach the dead gives to get into heaven. how about you research before trying to talk shit on a wonderfully enlightened man.
the point of different religons is so everyone can do what FEELS RIGHT & TRUE IN THIER HEARTS!! not yours. if christianity is the one true religon, how come there more sects of christianity than any other religon on earth?
Your discussion on the name of God is clearly slanted with the A Priori assumption that the Bible is somehow a more authentic medium for God to talk about himself than is the Qur'an. One of Paul Harvey's main points in his piece is that such an assumption is unnecessary and the distinction ultimately meaningless. I'm curious as to what your rationale is for working off of this assumption.
One of the aspects i most enjoyed from letters of God was the part where it spoke of 'many religions' and 'many names'. What you're doing here is proving yourself an arrogant propergator against others faith. I go to church and I read the bible - you must learn tolerance.
You and him are just working off of different base assumptions, which is fine. Your assumptions are of equal validity since there's no rational evidence to support the truth of either. You haven't provided any reasoning for rejecting his assumption beyond "it's new agey crap" and "it's confusing."
I mean, It comes down to whether you want strict interpretation of 1 arbitrarily chosen scripture, in your case the Bible (while ignoring the conflicts this causes with the other scriptures), or if you want to admit that since we can't rationally place any scripture over the others, we should take the path that leads to the most understanding and least conflict (in Harvey's opinion, Universalism). The choice is up to the individual.
@jezuzfreek777 They are the same "God." I noticed you did not capitalize God in "god of Christianity?" but you did for the "God of islam..." Ironic don't you think? They are the same God of Abraham... It's the teachings of Mohammad that warps the difference... Do you know anything about the history of religion? I doubt it.
jesuits created iszlam for much larger motives .islam is brand spanking new freshly opened doctrine from factory packaging a short few years ago....i kow for a fact your ignorant on the "history of religion" only know a biased study. if that. whabaaaaaaa yummmmmm ha ha ha..my whaba-yum is kinda funny....or whattabout kaaaaBAaallaaa aa--yummmm...{satanic islamic comic relief} shut down by the likes of someone like me..now thats horribly no words to describe right out pathetic
When Noah had his ark how did he get Scotland to pick the wild cat? This creature only exists in Scotland. Did God invent him after the flood? Or has the cat evolved from another species? Exactly how many creatures were on the Ark X 2? How big was it and what were they fed on? Answers please
Can I ask a simple question? How do you know that all the previous religions were false? Who told you? Do you have a direct line? were you struck dowm by a bolt of lightning? How do YOU know that it is true and why are people who don't agree with you wrong? It doesn't make sense, does it? Perhaps Jesus wants you for a sunbeam...
I have never been "struck down by lightning". All of us saw the love of God and evidence of His existence in everything, and had enough faith to conclude that He is real. In the past when I truly doubted my own faith, in the end I came out stronger than when I entered, seeing that believing in God is just much more completely sensible than anything else. No one will know for a fact until after we die; but that's when that bit of faith comes in. Faith is believing in what cannot be proven.
There is also Faith built upon consistency of previous experiences.
The Bible contains some 3,000 prophesies, of which about 98% has already been fulfilled. I have faith the remaining 2% will be fulfilled.
One prophesy says the Jews will one day return to Israel. This was fulfilled in 1947 following 1,877 years of exile. Another prophesy states the generation that witnesses the Jews return to Israel will not die out before Jesus' 2nd Coming.
As we approach Jesus' 2nd Coming, Bible Prophesy reads like today's news headlines:
1) A quantum leap in knowledge and information will occur. We now live in the "Information Age", thanks to the internet.
2) Dramatic increases in volatile weather.
The world is "Going Green" due to severe climate changes.
3) One-world government and a universal monetary system will be established. Many world leaders, including George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, are moving us toward Globalization.
The Bible predicts atomic world war, triggered by a massive attack on Israel by the nations now called Iraq, Syria and Russia.
Flesh instantly melts from bodies; Eyes melt in their sockets; Mountains of fire crash into the sea; 1/3 of earth's water is contaminated; Sun shines blood red; Sky appears to roll up like a scroll.
The world faces potential nuclear war - with Iran's Achmadenijad's promise to nuke Israel.
Coincidence?...Maybe God knows something we don't.

"Every soldier blessed by Jesus..." yeah right. Watch a Marine bleed out, and think to yourself...is there a God? You are to biased in your own belief, even if you profess understanding from his Word...
In tragedy, people either blame God or deny Him, when they never even think of Him when something wonderful occurs. If God was not, there simply is no way everything that there is could be. Man would never know right from wrong at all.
Seeing such a terrible thing as that could easily upset a person to the point of a bias that could affect them for the rest of their life. Just because these things happen does not mean that He does not exist, or even that He is not in control of these things.
Who said any thing about blaming your god. I am talking about the people the calm to be spreading the word also spreading war and sadness. Don't forget that Jesus said when he comes back he will not come to bring peace but war. Brother against brother, father against son. And in reality that is what religion does. it beings about a lot of division in how people view the world. Unlike the laws of physic which are pure and can be understood by any one with a bit of common sense.
That comment was made to richardnozzle. I'd like the names of all these people who preach the Word and spread war and sorrow simultaneously.
Sins need punishment, or else people who don't believe in a loving God would have no reason to be upright.
Religion may divide people, but the love of God never can. Rather, it's the hotheadedness of people and their biases which are set in with these religions that divide them.
Now you are talking about punishment. Do you now see how deceptive Christianity is. Your are not to judge least you be judged. You know this yet you come up with that statement. Thankfully atheists are not that judgmental. The do not condemn others to hell or believe in such a nasty place yet Christians do.
I'm not judging; I'm observing. The Bible says people do/think what they want, and when they're shown how incorrect their ways are, they're indignant because they're worried about their pride. But a Christian is to lose all his pride; he knows only God deserves honor. Exposing human nature isn't condemning people. Hell is a place of punishment for all the evil in the world that people do. "There's no such thing as Hell; we're all good people at heart," sounds nice but it's a total lie
Prove it is a lie prove to me there is a Hell and a Heaven. The only hell I know is the one created by The rich nations that control the worlds wealth. Using Africans as slaves to build there nation and brainwash them to give up there earthly positions for a better after life. That is the biggest lie ever.
I can't prove either; that's the mystery of the afterlife. I can only show you evidence of God in the aspects of /this/ life.
Hell was written about far before slavery; it was mentioned in the Old Testament, which is thousands of years old. Slavery was a horrible crime, but even if the US claimed to be under God, in reality slavery itself proved its leaders were very far from Him and living as they wanted to. Their using Hell as a threat to them was their own sin.
No prove? The old testament is not thousands of years old. The original is about 4000 years old. Humans and dinosaurs have been on the earth far longer The rest have been rewritten countless times to suit the white race. No prove of heaven and hell then I rest my cause. Nuff said.
Well if you have the /proof/ to back up that it's been rewritten like that then by all means show me. But if that's just your cynical opinion then I must ask you, what /do/ you think occurs beyond this life? Do you think there's anything out there beyond what you can see or hear or prove?
(Besides just cause I can't prove what happens after you die doesn't mean it's not real.)
I do not wish to embarrass you as I can see you comments are getting more muddled and childish. Your last sentence is totally bunkum. All life has a beginning, middle and end, so do story books. before I was born I did not exist. The same will be true when I die. People only come back from death is story books and movies.
There's no need for insults. If I thought that after I died I simply ceased existing altogether, I know I would be concerned if not downright depressed. If nothing else, what harm is there in having a greater hope? Even if it turned out you were wrong in the end, better to try for something than do nothing at all.
The harm is all around you to see. People killing themselves and other in the name of there god and believing there death with be rewarded in there after life. I could do a better job making people believe in an after life. That is one of the reasons I quit believing in religion. A little knowledge is very dangerous.
If you mean people like the terrorists of 9/11, all I think that shows is that their religion is senseless- brought to this Earth just to die early? Not in the eyes of the loving God.
I prefer to explain what I know and understand. Jesus only every talked about Heaven & hell when questioned and he had trouble explaining. The person that supposedly came back from the dead was not recognized even by the disciples of the guy that got the spear in his stomach on the cross.
Jesus is God as man with God's wisdom He was never uncertain in anything He said. Man had trouble understanding. When His disciples didn't recognize Him that was human error- anyone would have trouble believing their friend died and then returned. But soon the 12 and the masses alike believed.
From here I will not continue this thread, trying to melt a rock- I will pray for you vigorously that God will use these words to do it, for He works miracles.
When it comes to invisible friends we all have our own imagination on what the beast requires. When bad things happen to people worship other religions who is cause the badness. In the Middle East who's side is your God on. The god of technology is on the west side because that is the God the west depends on. technology and the west decide who gets feed and who gets bombed and made stateless and homeless. I am sure every soldier in Iraq has been blessed in the name of Jesus.
People can pray for whatever they can think of; someone may pray to God to become very rich, but that doesn't mean God will do what they ask- God has His own plan for everyone. Just because people pray for the troops doesn't mean God will deliver every last one of them into safety- once again, it's all too typical to blame God if, say, a soldier dies, when only His followers will think of Him if one returns home safely. Praying to God over some crucial issue doesn't relieve life of its burdens.
I pretty much agree with you; sounds like the guy is trying to create a new God from the biblical God. But that's like trying to reshape God to fit your own needs, and hence creating a different one.
However: Jesus never "demanded" anything of us- and it's not as if we "lose" if we can't win souls for Him. Our mission concerning others is more to do our absolute best to bring them to Him for His glory alone.
I am not sure what you mean by if you can't win souls for him and you mission concerning others. I am not a beliver of what I cant see or hear for myself. People need help looking after themselves in this life. There is no proof of after life.
To win souls is to successfully bring them to God, but my point is it's not a sin if you can't win everyone.
Do you believe in gravity? You can't see or hear it, but you have faith in it from your experiences. People do need help in this life; that's what God can do if they follow Him. There's no proof of after life, but that's when faith comes in, like faith in gravity, and faith in God as He's in the Bible. It takes more faith to be an Atheist than to follow Him.
The effects of gravity can be observed. Leaves fall down due to the force of gravity. You can measure your own hart beat. You can use X-ray machine to see ones insides including your heart. The effects of religion are war and suffering for what you truly can not see.
Yes, you can see the /effects/ of gravity, but not gravity itself. You can also witness the effects of God: His goodness shines through in simple acts of charity and love, and His beauty is in the beauty of nature.
People blame God for every bad thing that happens, never thinking twice about Him in the good times. And only His people truly suffer for Him, having, once again, the /faith/ that one day their reward will be greater than their previous losses.
I'm not even religious and it's quite plain to see you missed the entire point of what he was trying to say. From my perspective you're both jumping to conclusions, but at least he seems to have an open mind about spirituality. Blind trust in text or philosophical thought, which one do you think your god truly values more.
We know in our hearts what is right and what is wrong; I do not tell others how they should live their lives or what religion one should attend, the reason being is I am not perfect myself. I do not belong to a specific religion I believe in god our father. I also pray for guidance in my life.
All I see and hear is you being Judgmental to other people views and life. I guess you are doing what all Christians think they should be doing but tell others not to. Good bye
He's trying to set right what someone else said. God doesn't want people following Him and being mistaken in their view of Him. He's showing that none of the other religions lead to the one true God.
"You can't find the truth, you just pick the lie you like the best. As long as you know every thing's a lie, you can't hurt yourself." - Marilyn Manson.
You have been so owned by Paul Harvey. He is a kind man You are a scary freak. You are scared. Why? Go and watch Kiss with their crotch thrusting homo rock. Have you got the hot line to God. Why you? Oh yea? Being kind is for wimps. Isn't it? Anyway whose Bible are you talking about. There are many versions, the American (baby) bible. or The Bible+ The Apochrypha+The Dead Sea Scrolls+The Gospel according to Judas (left out) You know nothing. PS There is no Heaven (It's Made UP)
My basic question is this. How do you know you are right? The Egyptians belived they were right for 3000 years. The early English pagans and druids believed they were right for 5000 years. The Romans and the ancient Greeks belived they were right. There was no "God" as you know him then. Gods are not immortal
jews have believed in YAHWEH for about 6,000 years and they still do. wat makes you think YAHWEH is not the only God???? Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35 So please stop wishing for it to go away because it is not goin to.
C'mon, guy. It took me less than 60 seconds to Google this and find out that Paul Harvey didnt actually write this. I think the fact that the first 5 words in the broadcast are "From now on I'm quoting..."
And even still, -10 points for refuting someone who "says" that no Holy books are correct by QUOTING THE BIBLE. Of course you disagree. If you're really inclined to respond via YouTube, it should be a 3 second video. "Hi YouTube. I disagree with everything this guy said."
He read this letter. this clearly means he advocated its content. If he didn't advocate it he would have explained his stance and corrected the teachings within the letter
Hmm not quite, nice try on the save though. Use your brain for Gods sake, man! He is a radio personality. He reads shit on the air all the time. Now if you or I went on national radio and read it, it might say something about us, but this is the guys job. But irregardless, you clearly direct this video at the man you believe to be the author of the "letter." Next time, do some research. Gee, kinda says something about so called "belief" dontya think?
Paul harvey, usually does editorial pieces. by reading this letter he actually presents it as though he agreess with the content of the letter. This is enough to call paul out on his mistaken attempt to misguide millions of listeners. I hold Paul responsible for the content of his radio show. If paul didnt agree with the content he would have clearly said so. Instead he ended the program with his traditional "Good Day" Paul never provided counter commentary. Paul is responsible.
You're right on that one, Mr. JF. All religions before Christianity were false. Yet alot of them believed (false) stories and worshipped (false) gods a lot like those in the Bible. If God didnt write those stories too, they were pretty good at guessing shit.
Humans make mistake BUT WE LEAN from it,that what make us humans sir!Your religion is in the past and we got to to leave it in the past to move forward for a better mankind. sorry to tell you that ,we live in a new age ,it call the 21th century.
Thats the thing i hate about being an atheist. There's no "You'll all see!" to shut down an argument with. You'll most likely never know that religion is BS, and you'll be "happy" throughout life believing in God until you die and cease to have conscious thought. I, on the other hand, have to live with the fact that when i die i will be either proven horribly wrong or blink out of existence. Life is hard when you accept reality! :[
Which is the correct version of Christianity? Since you claim that not all roads lead to salvation? Also you say at the end of this video "just goes to show no matter how wise a man is, he is still prone to making mistakes" so my question is does this also apply to the pope?
The letter was written in 120 AD by a Roman senator to a friend. The letter talked of the politics of policing Palestine at the time. There were many prophets and healers but they picked out Jesus because of teaching of love and peace which would be the best way of keeping awarring nation under control.
Plus ca change, plus ca le meme chose! N'est ce pas?
Lucius thought it would be a good thing to encourage people to join his cult using the, death and rsurrection myths which were current at that time. Lucius and Pilate then arrested him on a trumped up charge of calling himself King of the Jews.
The rest as they say is history. the writer of the letter goes on to say how surprised his grandfather would be at the growth of the cult.
In Roman times Jesus the Nazarene was know as Yeshua Ben Pantera a Jewish magician and healer. Lucius a miltary intelligence officer decided to use his teachings, which preached "love thy neighbour" as a way of keeping the Palestinians under control.

Relieve yourself
phreshfilly 1 year ago 2
.......I could not listen to the whole video without saying something. I never believed in evolution, of course God has His own Names, and as for all religions being equal..
phreshfilly 1 year ago

You are full of shit!!!

all your points are valid from a christian point of view, but you have to realise that its a speech about deism.

I have a few questions...
Do you bring people to God by words or actions?
Who wrote the bible? You?
Have you any practical knowledge of other religions or cultures? not hearsay PRACTICAL?
The bible says Judge not so you won't be judged. what is "am sorry Mr Harvey you are wrong"?
You condemn liberal views are you saying conservatives are right? If so why is change constant?
Becareful, your message will make an aetheist deny GOD even more. It is repulsive.

you are a perfect example of what you call mind being "impressionable" as you have taken the bait of ignorance "hook, line, and sinker" as you say, and have been "reeled in" to that ignorance and confusion. you can go beyond your ignorance and confusion, but it will take you a very, very long time.

And one last thing; your last bit about newspapers, and reading nothing but newspapers "confuses" others...well, you can say the same about the Bible...kind of funny, actually.
tonysturgess 2 years ago
People bicker over scripture because people aren't inspired, even if scripture is. I think you give a nasty name to actual Christians, sir. The arguments you present are completely crushed by Harvey's own speech. What I don't understand is how you could listen to what Paul Harvey said in his "Letter to God" and then come up with this. Not trying to put you down man, but it's just my two cents.
tonysturgess 2 years ago
You're looking at this from a Christian point of view, "jezusfreek," which to a Muslim or a Jew is considered wrong and invalid just as you view their beliefs. Their god(s) may be false TO YOU, but to them, Jesus either didn't exist or was just another prophet. Get off your high horse, asshole. Be humble and just shut up. Believe what you want. Half the problem is people like you causing the strife that Paul Harvey was talking about. You have no idea how God thinks, so quit acting like it. Jerk

deliveryboy1 3 years ago
No he's not twisting it. Paul was naive to think there's any way to reason with fundie dunces like Jezuzfreek.
And while brotherly love and 'good behaviour' may be fairly consistent messages in most religions it was a mischaracterization of religions as a whole. Who do have a lot of hate in them as well (especially in the big ones), and there is a message more consistent than brotherly love in religion in general and that is the notion of putting (their) god before anything.

Do you get it now?

Most Christians believe that if we don't believe the way they do we go into an eternity of punishment and suffering at the hands of God. What kind of God tortures most of the population of the planet because he doesn't approve of the way they think? And what about babies who have never accepted Jesus as their savior or thought about God, much less loved him? Are they headed for God's torture chamber too? Thanks but no thanks on your brand of "God". Paul Harvey's version makes more sense.

You and him are just working off of different base assumptions, which is fine. Your assumptions are of equal validity since there's no rational evidence to support the truth of either. You haven't provided any reasoning for rejecting his assumption beyond "it's new agey crap" and "it's confusing."
kinghaggard 4 years ago
I mean, It comes down to whether you want strict interpretation of 1 arbitrarily chosen scripture, in your case the Bible (while ignoring the conflicts this causes with the other scriptures), or if you want to admit that since we can't rationally place any scripture over the others, we should take the path that leads to the most understanding and least conflict (in Harvey's opinion, Universalism). The choice is up to the individual.

How do YOU know that it is true and why are people who don't agree with you wrong? It doesn't make sense, does it? Perhaps Jesus wants you for a sunbeam...
Punctum90 4 years ago
I have never been "struck down by lightning". All of us saw the love of God and evidence of His existence in everything, and had enough faith to conclude that He is real. In the past when I truly doubted my own faith, in the end I came out stronger than when I entered, seeing that believing in God is just much more completely sensible than anything else. No one will know for a fact until after we die; but that's when that bit of faith comes in. Faith is believing in what cannot be proven.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
There is also Faith built upon consistency of previous experiences.
The Bible contains some 3,000 prophesies, of which about 98% has already been fulfilled. I have faith the remaining 2% will be fulfilled.
One prophesy says the Jews will one day return to Israel. This was fulfilled in 1947 following 1,877 years of exile. Another prophesy states the generation that witnesses the Jews return to Israel will not die out before Jesus' 2nd Coming.
TubeNumber3 4 years ago
As we approach Jesus' 2nd Coming, Bible Prophesy reads like today's news headlines:
1) A quantum leap in knowledge and information will occur. We now live in the "Information Age", thanks to the internet.
2) Dramatic increases in volatile weather.
The world is "Going Green" due to severe climate changes.
3) One-world government and a universal monetary system will be established. Many world leaders, including George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, are moving us toward Globalization.
TubeNumber3 4 years ago
The Bible predicts atomic world war, triggered by a massive attack on Israel by the nations now called Iraq, Syria and Russia.
Flesh instantly melts from bodies; Eyes melt in their sockets; Mountains of fire crash into the sea; 1/3 of earth's water is contaminated; Sun shines blood red; Sky appears to roll up like a scroll.
The world faces potential nuclear war - with Iran's Achmadenijad's promise to nuke Israel.
Coincidence?...Maybe God knows something we don't.

ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
Who said any thing about blaming your god. I am talking about the people the calm to be spreading the word also spreading war and sadness. Don't forget that Jesus said when he comes back he will not come to bring peace but war. Brother against brother, father against son. And in reality that is what religion does. it beings about a lot of division in how people view the world. Unlike the laws of physic which are pure and can be understood by any one with a bit of common sense.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
That comment was made to richardnozzle. I'd like the names of all these people who preach the Word and spread war and sorrow simultaneously.
Sins need punishment, or else people who don't believe in a loving God would have no reason to be upright.
Religion may divide people, but the love of God never can. Rather, it's the hotheadedness of people and their biases which are set in with these religions that divide them.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
Now you are talking about punishment. Do you now see how deceptive Christianity is. Your are not to judge least you be judged. You know this yet you come up with that statement. Thankfully atheists are not that judgmental. The do not condemn others to hell or believe in such a nasty place yet Christians do.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
I'm not judging; I'm observing. The Bible says people do/think what they want, and when they're shown how incorrect their ways are, they're indignant because they're worried about their pride. But a Christian is to lose all his pride; he knows only God deserves honor. Exposing human nature isn't condemning people. Hell is a place of punishment for all the evil in the world that people do. "There's no such thing as Hell; we're all good people at heart," sounds nice but it's a total lie
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
Prove it is a lie prove to me there is a Hell and a Heaven. The only hell I know is the one created by The rich nations that control the worlds wealth. Using Africans as slaves to build there nation and brainwash them to give up there earthly positions for a better after life. That is the biggest lie ever.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
I can't prove either; that's the mystery of the afterlife. I can only show you evidence of God in the aspects of /this/ life.
Hell was written about far before slavery; it was mentioned in the Old Testament, which is thousands of years old. Slavery was a horrible crime, but even if the US claimed to be under God, in reality slavery itself proved its leaders were very far from Him and living as they wanted to. Their using Hell as a threat to them was their own sin.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
No prove? The old testament is not thousands of years old. The original is about 4000 years old. Humans and dinosaurs have been on the earth far longer The rest have been rewritten countless times to suit the white race. No prove of heaven and hell then I rest my cause. Nuff said.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
Well if you have the /proof/ to back up that it's been rewritten like that then by all means show me. But if that's just your cynical opinion then I must ask you, what /do/ you think occurs beyond this life? Do you think there's anything out there beyond what you can see or hear or prove?
(Besides just cause I can't prove what happens after you die doesn't mean it's not real.)
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
I do not wish to embarrass you as I can see you comments are getting more muddled and childish. Your last sentence is totally bunkum. All life has a beginning, middle and end, so do story books. before I was born I did not exist. The same will be true when I die. People only come back from death is story books and movies.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
There's no need for insults. If I thought that after I died I simply ceased existing altogether, I know I would be concerned if not downright depressed. If nothing else, what harm is there in having a greater hope? Even if it turned out you were wrong in the end, better to try for something than do nothing at all.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
The harm is all around you to see. People killing themselves and other in the name of there god and believing there death with be rewarded in there after life. I could do a better job making people believe in an after life. That is one of the reasons I quit believing in religion. A little knowledge is very dangerous.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
If you mean people like the terrorists of 9/11, all I think that shows is that their religion is senseless- brought to this Earth just to die early? Not in the eyes of the loving God.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
I am talking about the NATO soldiers and the state sponsored terrorist that kill for oil and make out its for WMD or to being democracy or stability.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
I prefer to explain what I know and understand. Jesus only every talked about Heaven & hell when questioned and he had trouble explaining. The person that supposedly came back from the dead was not recognized even by the disciples of the guy that got the spear in his stomach on the cross.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago

MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
I don't understand your point here, and I don't know what you mean when you say "every soldier in Iraq has been blessed in the name of Jesus".
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
don't you read or see the news. people in the west constantly say they are praying for there troops. Wake up to the real world
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
People can pray for whatever they can think of; someone may pray to God to become very rich, but that doesn't mean God will do what they ask- God has His own plan for everyone. Just because people pray for the troops doesn't mean God will deliver every last one of them into safety- once again, it's all too typical to blame God if, say, a soldier dies, when only His followers will think of Him if one returns home safely. Praying to God over some crucial issue doesn't relieve life of its burdens.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
I pretty much agree with you; sounds like the guy is trying to create a new God from the biblical God. But that's like trying to reshape God to fit your own needs, and hence creating a different one.
However: Jesus never "demanded" anything of us- and it's not as if we "lose" if we can't win souls for Him. Our mission concerning others is more to do our absolute best to bring them to Him for His glory alone.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
I am not sure what you mean by if you can't win souls for him and you mission concerning others. I am not a beliver of what I cant see or hear for myself. People need help looking after themselves in this life. There is no proof of after life.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
To win souls is to successfully bring them to God, but my point is it's not a sin if you can't win everyone.
Do you believe in gravity? You can't see or hear it, but you have faith in it from your experiences. People do need help in this life; that's what God can do if they follow Him. There's no proof of after life, but that's when faith comes in, like faith in gravity, and faith in God as He's in the Bible. It takes more faith to be an Atheist than to follow Him.
ChelseaTheTomboy 4 years ago
The effects of gravity can be observed. Leaves fall down due to the force of gravity. You can measure your own hart beat. You can use X-ray machine to see ones insides including your heart. The effects of religion are war and suffering for what you truly can not see.
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
Yes, you can see the /effects/ of gravity, but not gravity itself. You can also witness the effects of God: His goodness shines through in simple acts of charity and love, and His beauty is in the beauty of nature.
People blame God for every bad thing that happens, never thinking twice about Him in the good times. And only His people truly suffer for Him, having, once again, the /faith/ that one day their reward will be greater than their previous losses.

Your type of fanaticism scares me more and more each day.
enclave2k1 4 years ago
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

I'm not even religious and it's quite plain to see you missed the entire point of what he was trying to say. From my perspective you're both jumping to conclusions, but at least he seems to have an open mind about spirituality. Blind trust in text or philosophical thought, which one do you think your god truly values more.
Sarren187 4 years ago
We know in our hearts what is right and what is wrong; I do not tell others how they should live their lives or what religion one should attend, the reason being is I am not perfect myself. I do not belong to a specific religion I believe in god our father. I also pray for guidance in my life.
JeffCaster 4 years ago
All I see and hear is you being Judgmental to other people views and life. I guess you are doing what all Christians think they should be doing but tell others not to. Good bye
MicrosoftsourceCode 4 years ago
He's trying to set right what someone else said. God doesn't want people following Him and being mistaken in their view of Him. He's showing that none of the other religions lead to the one true God.

You forgot to mention the Gnostic Gospels.

My basic question is this. How do you know you are right? The Egyptians belived they were right for 3000 years. The early English pagans and druids believed they were right for 5000 years. The Romans and the ancient Greeks belived they were right. There was no "God" as you know him then. Gods are not immortal
Calum666 4 years ago
Exactly. And a few thousand years from now people will look at the Abrahamic religions the same way. It's inevitable.

jews have believed in YAHWEH for about 6,000 years and they still do. wat makes you think YAHWEH is not the only God???? Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. Matthew 24:35 So please stop wishing for it to go away because it is not goin to.

C'mon, guy. It took me less than 60 seconds to Google this and find out that Paul Harvey didnt actually write this. I think the fact that the first 5 words in the broadcast are "From now on I'm quoting..."
TheRealCalamityJames 4 years ago
And even still, -10 points for refuting someone who "says" that no Holy books are correct by QUOTING THE BIBLE. Of course you disagree. If you're really inclined to respond via YouTube, it should be a 3 second video. "Hi YouTube. I disagree with everything this guy said."

He read this letter. this clearly means he advocated its content. If he didn't advocate it he would have explained his stance and corrected the teachings within the letter
jezuzfreek777 4 years ago
Hmm not quite, nice try on the save though. Use your brain for Gods sake, man! He is a radio personality. He reads shit on the air all the time. Now if you or I went on national radio and read it, it might say something about us, but this is the guys job. But irregardless, you clearly direct this video at the man you believe to be the author of the "letter." Next time, do some research. Gee, kinda says something about so called "belief" dontya think?
TheRealCalamityJames 4 years ago
Paul harvey, usually does editorial pieces. by reading this letter he actually presents it as though he agreess with the content of the letter. This is enough to call paul out on his mistaken attempt to misguide millions of listeners. I hold Paul responsible for the content of his radio show. If paul didnt agree with the content he would have clearly said so. Instead he ended the program with his traditional "Good Day" Paul never provided counter commentary. Paul is responsible.

jezuzfreek777 do you know Christianity was not the the first Religion. There was religion before Christianity ,Do you know that?
robnyc1986 4 years ago
Um yes . did you know that the previous religions are all false?
jezuzfreek777 4 years ago
You're right on that one, Mr. JF. All religions before Christianity were false. Yet alot of them believed (false) stories and worshipped (false) gods a lot like those in the Bible. If God didnt write those stories too, they were pretty good at guessing shit.

Humans make mistake BUT WE LEAN from it,that what make us humans sir!Your religion is in the past and we got to to leave it in the past to move forward for a better mankind. sorry to tell you that ,we live in a new age ,it call the 21th century.
robnyc1986 4 years ago
you continue to move forward and I will too . i wonder when we die who will have moved in the right direction?
jezuzfreek777 4 years ago
Thats the thing i hate about being an atheist. There's no "You'll all see!" to shut down an argument with. You'll most likely never know that religion is BS, and you'll be "happy" throughout life believing in God until you die and cease to have conscious thought. I, on the other hand, have to live with the fact that when i die i will be either proven horribly wrong or blink out of existence. Life is hard when you accept reality! :[
TheRealCalamityJames 4 years ago
Which is the correct version of Christianity? Since you claim that not all roads lead to salvation? Also you say at the end of this video "just goes to show no matter how wise a man is, he is still prone to making mistakes" so my question is does this also apply to the pope?

The letter was written in 120 AD by a Roman senator to a friend. The letter talked of the politics of policing Palestine at the time. There were many prophets and healers but they picked out Jesus because of teaching of love and peace which would be the best way of keeping awarring nation under control.
