All of Thom's live versions of songs these days, he sings WAY ahead of the beat...I know it's intentional, to sort of "rough up" the delivery, but as musicians get older, they tend to do that too much...they get so bored by their original way of performing something, that they fail to realize they're compromising what made their songs majestic to begin with.
10 years ago, Thom was in some possessed vision when he would perform this song.
Rubbish. Artists evolve and aren't the same people 10 years later. But anyways minor details like this really shouldn't affect anyone, its not uncommon at all for performances of a song to differ from the LP.
Maybe you should just stick with listening to the original on your ipod - a live performance is exactly that - live - warts and all - the difference is that it's meant to be entered into and not analyzed . . . .
Jesus Christ, what a load of shite you speak, slithinginterstate. Thom's live vocal is astonishing, and Radiohead's live performance of Lucky is one of their best. Last time I saw them do this live was the closest thing to a religious experience I have ever had. Just mindblowing.
sounds kinda like michael stipe
