I watched the band here in the Netherlands. It was my First Band I went to listen to! I still remember the Performance, with the Dancing lady in Nude! ( I mean real Nude!). Since than it is one of my Favourite Bands, in fact the Bassist was Playing a Rickenbacker 4001 Bassguitar and eventually I bought the samen on! Cool!
I remember when this video was aired on totp in 1972, Alice Cooper performing School's Out was on the same show, Alice Cooper no1 Hawkwind No2 in the chart same week, both my favourite bands. perfect
I saw them do this at the Manchester Hardrock on Great Stone Rd about 1973. Best gig I've ever been to in 40 years concert going. Renee and Stacia were both naked that night!
Something must be seriously wrong with the music of today, if i have to keep going back and discovering these bands of yesteryear. It amazes me to think that these bands would piss all over any of the music of today.,,!
This was recorded 7/7/1972. @ Dunstale Queensway hall by the BBC as Hawkwind would not go into the BBC studios for TOTP and said they were a live band and not a studio band. If you want to video something for the single you'd better follow us on the Space Ritual tour. So the BBC went to Dunstable to record the video. Hence it's not in sync. I was in the audience. It was 60p to get in.
@baddacoodoo Yes. She was quite tall and BIG on top. I never realised that the clip they showed of this after BBC4's Hawkwind prog was the venue I attended.
@Individual1991 - this was recorded in 1972. Hawkwind are still going and have a fanatical fan base. To my mind, they haven't produced anything worth listening to since 1978.
i can't believe thats lemmy singing here, i like lemmy's naritone voice with motorhead, but he seems to have a much...bigger range with vocal ability here.
Does anyone have a piece where they only get to 'Sideways through time' and then it sounds like a huge explosion ? I have this bit recorded years ago off a borrowed album and i used it as a lead onto the whole track. Came out well ! I love this - I called my Metal merchandise business 'Silver Machine' even though some people didnt get it !!!!!
I think you're talking about Silver Machine (Requiem), which appeared on Live 1979. I think Dave had gotten sick of playing the song, so he decided to "kill off" the song on that album. Of course, they were doing it again by 82, so obviously it stay dead. LOL
A friend of mine went to art college in Ireland in the 90s & told me there was a mature female student in the same college as she. (Cork I think) "She said she used to be a dancer in a rock band in the 70s. Can't remember what the name of the band was....eagle-something...eagle-flight...."
Thanks for that DA. Yep, lots of stuff on her now. Stacia Blake, who was in essence a part of Hawkwind's act until 1975. A lady with form :O) 49-28-39 actually! It seems that this clip is probably one of the few where she performed wearing something other than just paint. Them woz the days - sigh!
THE LEAD SINGER OF THIS 1972 SONG IS A VERY YOUNG LEMMY. THIS IS WHEN HE PLAYED BASS FOR THIS GROUP. HE IS BETTER KNOWN NOW AS THE LEAD SINGER OF MOTORHEAD
fox408 1984 was the last free festie. A few years later the technology of mobile phones brought on the possibility of holding smaller Raves! The Castlemorton festie was big. But it seemed to have been arranged by the police to bring on the wrath of Parliament!
nope, i think you are spot on! the thing that amazed me about how we used to gathered for festivals was like we had some kind of in built homing beacon! i know it really freaked the police out because i remember reading a police handout circulated to farmers and landowners stating that the convoy had a forward intelligence unit that organised the movements of festival goers with the use of two way radios! this ability to gather en mass at will seemed to disappear with the advent of mobile phones

If I had seen footage of Hawkwind performing live in this era when I was a teenager, I would've become a fan for life just because of Stacia.

Stacia was the first Bez! it looks like hawkwind pioneered the spaced out dancer on stage, which I thought the happy mondays did

Stacia, dancer with the band early 70s.
A friend of mine went to art college in Ireland in the 90s & told me there was a mature female student in the same college as she. (Cork I think) "She said she used to be a dancer in a rock band in the 70s. Can't remember what the name of the band was....eagle-something...eagle-flight...."
"Hawkwind?" I suggested.
"THAT's it!" she said
"Was her name Stacia?" I said
"Yeah, Stacia. Do you know her?"
Mother of Divine Jesus I said :)

Lemmy is fucking awesome. The only popular Song of Hawkwind is the one Lemmy is on the Vocals^^
PeterRanzmaus 1 year ago 15
@PeterRanzmaus The only reason Lem's on vocals is because no one else in the band could do the re-dub justice.

When I saw Hawkwind at Stonehenge 1984, Nick Turner was the front man then.
Good vocals from Lemmy
motorhead were up and running in 1977`ish.
